ceiling Solutions Ceiling systems should always effectively meet industry standards, be practical and quick to install. Lafarge Gypsum’s range of components, inclusive of decorative mouldings, access panels and solutions for curved or vaulted ceilings, certainly satisfy these requirements. Our ceiling solutions include: Exposed ceilings:
standard tapered-edge Lafarge Plasterboard and fixed with 25mm drywall screws. Joints should be appropriately prepared for painting or the complete surface may be plastered, using Lafarge Skim-Lite, Skim-Stone or Finishing plaster. Lafarge Vinyl Ceiling Tiles: Lafarge Gypsum’s range of 9mm and 12mm plasterboard ceiling tiles are ideal for today’s modern building decoration.
Fixed ceilings:
These high-quality, light-weight ceiling tiles – with vinyl laminate – are quick to install, easy to maintain and are available in square-edge, 1 200 x 600 and 600 x 600 layin ceiling installations. Lafarge Gypsum’s ceiling tiles are manufactured from quality plasterboard and when combined with our Gridlock ceiling grid, this tile approach delivers an aesthetically pleasing ceiling solution. Although our vinyl ceiling tiles do not require painting, it is imperative that the supporting structure be accurate and sound to ensure a high standard of ceiling finish. A complete range of fixing accessories, including ceiling tees and hold-down clips is also available.
• • • • •
Lafarge Fixed Ceilings: Lafarge Gypsum offers a choice of two fixed ceiling solutions, steel plaster grid and steel brandering, including an alternative, where plasterboards are fixed directly to timber brandering.

Suspended white-capped grid; Lafarge plaster grid; Vinyl ceiling tiles; Thermal ceiling tiles; Mineral fibre ceiling tiles; and Suspension systems.
Suspended knurled face plaster grid; Steel brandering; Lafarge plasterboard; Suspension systems; and Access panels.
Lafarge Lay-in Suspended Ceilings: Suspended ceilings are ideal for concealing unsightly services and/or untidy structural elements in commercial buildings, while also providing good insulation and an aesthetically-pleasing finish. Lafarge Gypsum’s suspended ceilings provide an elegant, yet simple and costeffective solution. Ceiling heights may be varied, while remaining within specification. In addition, performance specifications are met through the selection of the most appropriate grade of ceiling tile and insulation. Our suspended ceilings are quickly and easily assembled on-site, using a versatile range of standardised components manufactured from galvanised material with white capped-face exposed sections. Lafarge Ceiling Grids: Lafarge Gypsum offers two exposed face ceiling grid size solutions and one plaster grid (concealed) size option. The suspended ceiling grid, inclusive of 3 600mm main tees, together with 1 200mm and 600mm cross tees in 24mm and 35mm face alternatives, is an exposed-face tee system, manufactured from galvanised steel, capped across the exposed face. The plaster grid, inclusive of 3 600mm main tees and 1 200mm cross tees in a 35mm knurled face, concealed system may be clad with 9mm, 12mm or 15mm
Suspended Fixed Plasterboard Ceilings: Lafarge Gypsum’s 6,4mm, 9mm and 12mm options may be used for these applications and all are dependent on specific requirements. Plasterboard ceiling solutions, which meet stringent performance standards, while being very pleasing to the eye, offer a simple, quick and cost-effective answer for both new buildings and refurbishment projects. Steel Brandering and Direct Fixed Timber: Lafarge Gypsum’s steel brandering has been designed as an alternative to timber brandering and is typically utilised for domestic applications. Plasterboard may be attached directly to the underside of the steel brandering which is, itself, suspended from timber joists and tie beams using steel suspension brackets. Fixing is simple and the end result provides a smooth finish for final decoration. The plasterboard, too, may be given a textured finish to further enhance the aesthetics of the completed ceiling. The steel brandering approach is cost-effective, eco-friendly, ensures straightness and a level finish and is easily installed. In addition, plasterboard ceilings provide the opportunity to upgrade basic new or existing ceiling construction, improving overall looks, insulation and sound absorption. LAFARGE PARTITION SOLUTIONS

partition Solutions Lafarge Gypsum’s fixed and remountable partition systems are ideal for residential and commercial building projects. They are light, easy to handle and quick and simple to install. The range of specification options also deliver superior acoustic and insulation qualities and are fire-resistant for up to 120 minutes. Being dimensionally accurate, Lafarge Gypsum’s partitions, when fixed to specification, are stable and offer the opportunity of fixing service within the cavity, including power skirting options. Lafarge Fixed Partitions:
At a time when organisations are constantly evaluating and improving their operations and, with this, their staff and office environments, the Lafarge Finesse Re-locatable Partition system is the perfect foil for the design of work environments of different styles, based on sound, limited fire-rating, privacy and space considerations. The system, with its superb detailing and fine finishes, is easily installed and fully re-locatable in component form, while all unsightly electrical, data and communication cables remain hidden from view within the partition’s inner cavities, or placed in especially-designed power skirting at the base of the partition system.
Lafarge Gypsum Drywall is a light-weight, non-demountable partition system devoid of visible joints when complete. The internal framework comprises standard ridgeback stud and drywall track profiles, manufactured from galvanised steel. Tapered-edge plasterboard is screw-fixed to the studs, allowing for plaster jointing and decoration following installation. The plasterboard is held in position at the base by skirting and fixed to the steel framework with 25mm drywall screws. In instances where the partition is installed beneath a plastered ceiling, galvanised drywall track is used to affix the partition to the ceiling. Aluminium trim profiles, doors and windows can also be easily installed in this partitioning system. Either paint or wallpaper finishes may be applied to Lafarge Gypsum’s fixed partitions, creating finishes of exacting quality. Lafarge Finesse Re-locatable Partitions:
The Lafarge Finesse Re-locatable Partition System, created to accommodate the requirements of the most technologically-advanced office environment, provides for unprecedented freedom in planning the optimum work-place and maximising the use of available floor space. The system’s in-built flexibility frees designers from the restraints of other systems and provides for easy adaptation or adjustment, as required. This single system may be utilised to introduce both full-height and low-level partitions in the design of work-stations. LAFARGE PARTITION SOLUTIONS

fire Solutions In construction today, fire protection remains a primary consideration; one which affects both lives and livelihoods. Systems selected must have a proven trackrecord of reliability and effectiveness. Lafarge Gypsum prides itself not only on the reliability and effectiveness of its fire protection systems, but also the drywall advantage, which makes these systems more economical and practical to install on-site than alternative construction methods. Our extensive range of fire protection products and systems has undergone exhaustive testing and has been refined again and again to meet broad and exacting regulatory standards. All our plasterboards have a gypsum core, enjoying positive spread-of-flame test results. Indeed, Lafarge Gypsum Plasterboard systems are capable of achieving fire resistance of between 30 and 120 minutes. In instances where high levels of fire protection are required, Lafarge Gypsum’s Firecheck Plasterboard of either 12,5mm or 15mm thick may be specified. Lafarge Firecheck Plasterboard contains exfoliated vermiculite and fibreglass strands within the gypsum core, increasing fire resistance, and is differentiated by its covering of pink paper liner. It is available in 12,5mm and 15mm thicknesses and is recommended for use in areas where additional fire resistance is required, such as kitchens, record and filing rooms, fire escapes and for specified office partitions. Internal Partition System:
• 12mm Standard Plasterboard (89m thick) – one layer each side - 30-minute fire rating; • 15mm Technical Firecheck Plasterboard (94mm thick) – one layer each side 60-minute fire rating; • 12mm Standard Plasterboard (112mm thick) – double layer each side - 60-minute fire rating; • 12,5mm Technical Firecheck Plasterboard (89mm thick) – one layer each side 80kg/m³ “U” thermo matt wire mesh-surfaced fibre blanket – 60-minute fire rating; • 12,5mm Technical Firecheck Plasterboard (115mm thick) – 0,5mm galvanised steel between double layer of Technical Firecheck Plasterboard on each side 120-minute fire rating; • 15mm Technical Firecheck Plasterboard (124mm thick) – double layer each side - 120-minute fire rating. moisture Solutions Lafarge Moisture Check Plasterboard:
Lafarge Moisture-Resistant Plasterboard is the perfect solution for ‘wet’ area application, such as bathrooms, showers, kitchens and protected external locations. This plasterboard, lined on both sides with a highly-distinctive and easily recognised green water repellent paper, is especially well-suited to utilisation in areas requiring the application of ceramic wall tiles. However, it is not appropriate for protection against continual damp, or as a base for cement rendering. Containing silicone within the gypsum core, Lafarge Moisture-Resistant Plasterboard comes in a range of sizes. Two thickness options are available, 12,5mm and the newly introduced 15mm, while lengths vary between 2 700mm, 3 000mm and 3 600mm, all are 1 200mm wide. The 15mm plasterboard is regarded as stronger than its counterpart and should be used in vertical applications only. It is particularly suitable for utilisation in tandem with steel frame construction. These plasterboards are, however, unsuitable for usage in temperatures above 52°C and may not be subjected to freezing temperatures, without the risk of damage.

acoustic Solutions Lafarge Acoustic Solutions:
Lafarge Acoustic Ceilings are excellent for improving sound absorption in, especially, commercial applications, such as auditoriums, concert halls, conference facilities, schools and large open ceiling areas in hotels. Although acoustic factors are not regarded as critical for use in domestic buildings, the installation of acoustic ceilings in home theatres would also enhance sound. This high-performance square-pattern perforated gypsum board system is aesthetically appealing, as well as having superior acoustic qualities, providing a noise reduction co-efficient of up to 0,60. A protective glass mat, glued to the back of the board, prevents dust emission, makes installation an easy one-step process and as simple as that of standard systems. Critically, Lafarge Acoustic Ceilings offer a cost-effective method of ensuring significant noise reduction, without compromising quality design specifications in commercial buildings.

By leading innovation, the future of profiled concepts is here with Lafarge Prefabricated Bulkheads. Curved Surfaces:
Curved wall surfaces, once dependent on time-consuming, wet plaster technology or expensive fibrous prefabricated plaster mouldings, may now be constructed quickly and inexpensively using Lafarge Gypsum Plasterboard systems. Lafarge thin Plasterboard may be curved into many forms to fit a variety of desired wall and ceiling design requirements, ideal for prestigious interiors, such as multiplex cinemas, leisure complexes or luxury hotels. Our plasterboards herald new opportunities for the creation of high-quality, attractive and supremely sophisticated three-dimensional forms, while minimising construction time and creating contract budget savings. Lafarge thin Plasterboard may be used dry to form wall curves with radii down to 1 000mm, or – when wetted – with radii as small as 600mm. Thicker plasterboards may also be curved if wetted. The grid design is considered to be of paramount importance. In addition, the Lafarge Plasterboard Ceiling System brings to the construction scene a new reality; a simple and inexpensive solution to forming vaulted and curved ceilings of virtually any shape or size, so creating the ultimate in dramatic effects, intimacy and special lighting outcomes. The grid design is considered to be of paramount importance.
