The Bundu Bash leg of the NISSAN TRAILSEEKER is owned by ADVENDURANCE. Although the NISSAN TRAILSEEKER started in 2009, it was previously known as the FPC (Fritz Pienaar Cycles) race which started in 2008. In that year we already drew 800 participants, which showed that people were looking for a race on their doorstep. The routes have been built over the past year, many of the routes do not stay open year round and need to be cut open especially for the event. Many hours have been spent carving single track, building bridges, cutting grass and hacking through thick vegetation. Thanks to all the 15+ land owners that the route traverses, without your co-operation this event will not be possible. Special thanks to the new Buffelsdrift MTB park and the ARC Roodeplaat and the Buffelsdrift Bavaria that incorporates sections of the routes. The event supports local business and the local community.

Notice for all participants - Although the organizers endeavour to remove dangerous rocks, cut as much of the long grass and overhanging bushes, trees, thorns and vegetation as possible, weather conditions sometimes result in unforeseen obstacles on the route. NISSAN TRAILSEEKER FUN RACE The fun race is aimed at the inexperienced mountain biker who seldom rides much off road and does not have a great deal of fitness. The route will have mostly duel tracks and gravel roads and is considered easy, once you can complete the FUN RACE in 1h30min or less you can move up to the Half-Marathon distance. NISSAN TRAILSEEKER Half-Marathon Relatively fit, intermediate skilled, recreational riders will find the short climbs and some of the rocky surfaces challenging. Where the surfaces and descents are dangerous it is recommended that riders be cautious. Please remember to keep left and be cautious to faster riders who may want to pass. Words like “keep left”, “on your right” or “track” are often used. If you have difficulty with a section and resort to walking, please keep out of the way of upcoming cyclists. The route goes out in a northerly direction across a river into slowly climbing into cattle camps. At 12km it will split from the 70km where it will follow mostly gravel and dual tracks before crossing the river once again. The first single tracks will be encountered along the river after water point 2. From here the major climb of the day will be hit climbing up to the reservoir. Turning back down, the riders will hit some fast dual track joined by the 70km before crossing the canal taking them home. NISSAN TRAILSEEKER Marathon

FEATURES

From the first waterpoint riders will turn back down on some fast gravel before crossing the river and onto the floating bridge and steep slope up past the Roodeplaat dam wall onto some undulating dual tracks along the dam. From the second waterpoint riders will flirt with views over the dam until inevitably tuning away along the railroad. After this quick warm-up the real mountain biking begins where they will enter the Buffelsdrift mountain bike park and onto the “supertube” before getting to waterpoint 3. This will be the major waterpoint of the day and should be properly utilised, because what lies ahead are three climbs that need rested legs. “Okkies se pad”,, “Croc Trail” and “Mamba Climb” each steeper than it’s predecessor but luckily shorter. Those that forgave Okkies, survived the crocodiles attack and the mambas strike will be well rewarded with waterpoint 4. Fast gravel and dual tracks will merge with the 40km at the canal taking you to the finish.
