Wyreema women injured in shooting

Two women from Wyreema were allegedly shot during an incident in the Toowoomba CBD last week.

Police said that at approximately 2.40 on Tuesday afternoon, a group of people who were known to each other was at an hotel on Annand Street when a firearm was discharged once.

A 16-years-old Wyreema girl sustained a serious injury to her arm.

The girl was treated at the scene before being transported to Toowoomba Hospital and later was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where she was in a stable condition when admitted.

A 37-years-old Wyreema woman sustained chest and arm injuries and was transported in a stable condition to Toowoomba Hospital.

None of the injuries were life threatening.

Police established a crime scene at the location and an 18-years-old North Toowoomba woman was taken into custody.

Karleeah Marie Jensen, was subsequently charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, wounding, dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of weapons (firearm) and authority required to possess explosives.

She was not required to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday when her charges were heard.

She did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

The case is listed for mention in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on April 12.

It is believed the women were known to each other.
