New police youth team
The Youth Co-Responder Teams (YCRT) initiative, where police and youth justice workers patrol the streets and engage with young people, will be expanded to Toowoomba.
The announcement of the new team came in the wake of a community safety public forum held last Wednesday which followed a few high-profile youth crime incidents.

The program works to reduce youth crime and improve community safety by engaging with at-risk youth and young people on court orders at all hours of the day, undertaking various activities including de-escalating and problem solving where groups congregate and transporting youth to safety.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the walkway area between Annand and Ruthven Streets, known as Kwong Sang Walk, between 2.30pm and 2.45pm last Tuesday, 14th February, and who may have seen any persons acting suspiciously, to come forward.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
