story + action = prosperity

If you want to align the stars and people with your brand or idea, you need to feed your story with actions—and feed your actions with your story. In word. In deed. In perpetuity. That’s how you create momentous prosperity and movements that people will do flips and twists to be part of—and will eagerly want to spread your story, so your people, idea or brand continue to grow.

RL | A would like to invite you to join us in creating your momentous movement together, beyond your campaigns—to lift your story, spirit, and actions on your prosperous journey upward; Attracting and retaining your primary and tertiary audiences that span the spectrum of donors, funders, patrons, partners, practitioners, activists, advocates, movers, changers, influencers, volunteers, employees, NGOs and policymakers— local, regional, national, even worldwide if needed. Telling right stories; Segmenting and tailoring outreach and message; Transforming communities; Inspiring the right kind of leadership; Catalyzing the right actions; Leaving no media touchstone unturned; Tying it all together; Shining a light.

Relentless and ubiquitous; Across divides and channels; In story and actions; We understand the challenges of tying it all together— the diverse endeavors, media and audiences. We fully empathize, and have been there before; We can and want to help organizations who act, as you do, to make the world better.

who are my people? 3 energy projects stopped A film changed the world—press releases and white papers ensured the story was delivered by 150 global outlets. Blog posts, articles and rapid response videos captured traffic, helping a small non-profit achieve over 50 pages of high quality search results in three months. Documentary film screenings catalyzed donors and activist support in five states. Lawsuits, the film, and ongoing PR and activism stopped three major energy projects dead in their tracks. Battling Goliath: Who Are My People? documentary is one component— along with ongoing activism, PR and several successful lawsuits—in the battle against a series of destructive, fraudulent and unnecessary solar energy projects perpetuated by the utility companies in California. Taking advantage of government grants and a frenzy of investment capital, energy companies obtained virtual license to pollute, destroy endangered species habitat, and build unnecessary infrastructure across inherently protected land, including historic Native American sacred sites and artifacts. The California Energy Commission indicated 17,000 sacred sites would be destroyed by energy development in the deserts.

who are my people? documentary activism Protecting the environment and the human rights of Indigenous Americans— The film follows four Native American elders, Alfredo Figueroa (Chemehuevi/ Yaqui), Reverend Ron Van Fleet (Mojave Hereditary Chief), Phillip Smith (Chemehuevi), and Preston Arrow-Weed (Quechan), as they seek to preserve cultural resources, including large geoglyphs, some over 200 feet long.

“The communication and outreach conducted by Mr. Lundahl… played a major role in delaying or stopping some of the most damaging utility scale projects in the Blythe area. He has also been an effective communicator of the no-impact rooftop solar alternative to high impact desert projects.” ~Bill Powers P.E.

“I am sure you have heard by now, the fish are already starting to utilize the habitat up above where the projects used to be located. It is awesome, and it is going to keep getting better. I just want to say that I know in my heart that your film and the work you did had a huge impact on the ways things turned out and I am still very grateful to you for that work you did.”

A story within Harvest Dreams, the film helped raise money for conservation and preservation, and saved several farms such as Angel Lavender Farms, so that they might continue as agricultural producers in a new era of organic and sustainable farming. Tens of thousands of tourists and families from surrounding cities and towns pour into the community for regular well appreciated Lavender agri-tourism events, replete with music and picnics and local products. As blossoming events and retail continue to spin-off from this exciting new farming direction, the community now enjoys a renewed economy, spirit and energy. Filled with scenes of Coast Salish and Nuu Chah Nulth songs, glowing faces, inspiring stories, and incredibly beautiful cinematography—the one-hour film reveals a profound spirit voyage for pullers, ground crews, and elders. Together they share the waves, traditions, and vision of a Coast Salish youth with radiant futures firmly rooted in a heritage spirit. Native-formed Long House Association’s non-profit mission is to educate, communicate and elevate native culture. Taken in as one of their own, the Longhouse Association invited Robert Lundahl to participate not only as activist and filmmaker, but also as their formal Executive Director.

song on the water: restoring an entire culture Elders acted on their new spirit vision, and once again began teaching traditional culture, language, skills and crafts to the younger generations. How to fashion seaworthy dugout canoes from solid cedar. How to thrive in harmony with the environment. To be strong again. To be proud again. To sing and laugh again. To become Coast Salish forever again. So moving was this picture, that three months following release, the film had already aired on over 240 PBS affiliate stations, coast to coast. “We’re like an octopus with 100 tentacles” YBCA—the most prominent contemporary arts organization in the San Francisco Bay Area, perhaps the world. Happening here 365 days a year, the most dynamic array of innovation, the arts, ideas, thinking, events, entertainment, and exhibits with profound relevance for diverse audiences. The executive director spoke urgently, “We’ve 100 Big Ideas, but nobody’s listening, and the Big Ideas are not even that effective for the curators themselves. Our visual arts, film, innovation, science, humanities, events, performances, facilities rentals—what this is all about at YBCA does not hang together... Our relationships are very complicated. We’re a vital influence, recognized nationally, internationally. We’re important to the rest of the world, but some key audiences don’t get what we’re all about, and Bay Area audiences simply don’t care.”

“You were really inclusive and thorough in all of the background work. The curators, the development people, the events people—they all felt their voice was really heard. We were finally able to get something concrete that made sense. It made sense to everybody. Your honesty was just so exactly what we needed. That was hugely valuable.” ~ Kathy Budas, Marketing Director, YBCA

Award-winning filmmaker, director, storyteller, visionary, activist Robert is a superb filmmaker/storyteller. You can see that when you look at his work. It has passion and is emotional, the basis of great storytelling. He is a superb caster of talent, a magnificent cameraman and director, and an excellent editor. He writes his own script copy which I also find brilliant. If you need a story told with passion and clarity and top-of-the-line professionalism, I can highly recommend him as one of the very best.

~ David Hoffman–American Documentary Filmmaker

Beyond a prolific list of award-winning stories and documentary films seen on PBS and worldwide, Robert has delivered unprecedented creative successes for private enterprise including companies like HP, SAP, Credit Suisse, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sun Microsystems, Avatier, and Eriksson. Robert helped take Amdahl to the forefront of IT products in a realm formerly dominated only by IBM— everywhere from NASA’s Voyager spacecraft to the manufacture of automobiles in France to scheduling air travel in Australia.
