MAKE ANY SPACE BEAUTIFUL
Decorating a small space can be tough. Fortunately we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve that will have you decorating anything from a dorm room to a breakfast nook with bravado.
we’ve walls.
Now, there’s a myth out there that to make a small space feel bigger you should only use white on your walls. Totally not true! By painting your wall a lighter version of your favorite hue and adding some small brighter, richer highlights (on the baseboard or curtain trim for example) you can achieve the same benefits of a white walled room without the super boring color palette.
While we’re on the subject of color, pick a single one that fits in well with your scheme and make sure all of the furniture in the room is that color. This will really bring the room together from a visual standpoint, creating an effect that plays on your sense of sight. The continuity of color causes the eye to glide over the room with ease.
Another furniture tip you might consider: If you have large pieces of furniture against the wall, paint or slip cover them the same color as the wall they are against. This will cause them to almost “melt” into the wall.
Of course when following these tips, you need to decide for yourself exactly what you’re trying to accomplish. You might not necessarily want your room to appear to be larger than it is. Sometimes a small space should be exactly what it is: a small space. It’s a great chance to create a room with a very cozy appeal. In these cases, use earth tones with lighter accents and white to keep it from becoming too dungeon like. Unless of course that’s what you’re going for… And in that case, have at it!
LEARN ALL ABOUT the EXPERT

Now if your entire home is a small space you’re likely plagued by the eternal scourge of (insert ominous music here) Storage Space. Fortunately, we’ve got some tips for that too.
The most important thing to remember here is to utilize walls and ceiling. Things like pegboards, hanging laundry bags and pot racks can be invaluable in saving some much needed space. Wire baskets in the kitchen and bathroom can hold small items with ease and hanging shoe rack can free up a lot of closet space. And if you get really desperate? Cover a large storage box with a sheet and you’ve got yourself an ottoman!
You might be wondering if there is anything you should avoid when decorating a small space. Great question! Trust me, there are a few danger zones. One thing you should avoid is the area rug. This is tough to do as most area rugs are pretty boss looking and you’re probably going to want one. Resist the urge and keep your floor as clean and open as possible.
And as long as you’re simplifying your floor, you might as well do the same thing to your windows. A small space is simply not the place to put your fancy puffed out lacy window treatments as fabulous as they may be! (Save those for your wow-rooms, like the dining room, living room or formal study.) Keep them pretty simple and the same color as your walls.
Andrew Beckman, Esquire is a self-proclaimed expert in the Art of Home Living. He credits his ability to make homes “shine” to his three-month studio residency in Amsterdam, and of course to his two muses, a pair of black labradoodles named Poochy and Sneezer.
Finally, I’d like to leave you with a tip you won’t find anywhere else: Buy a goldfish. Watching him swim around in that tiny glass prison will make your cramped room seem like a banquet hall in comparison. Not to mention giving yourself the illusion of superiority. That’s it gentle reader. Now, you get out there and make that small space ab-fab (absolutely fabulous)! A cockroach only needs 1/16 of an inch to get in your home. BURIED TREASURE
Old-fashioned words may contain timely pearls of wisdom
We’ve just spent the past few days cleaning a portion of our house that has accumulated stuff for the past 19 years.
To be honest, most of the “stuff” was standard garage-sale fare — clothes that no longer fit, and toys that no longer work. Why we were still keeping them is a tribute to laziness, I suppose.
But there were a few gems amidst all of the material stuff we probably didn’t need in the first place.
We found a tiny Minnesota Twins shirt I wore when I was about a year old; my mom saved it, and our now-teenage sons dutifully took their turns with it. Perhaps someday, their kids will do the same.
There were worksheets and papers from our kids’ elementary school years, days not exactly forgotten but far from fresh in our memories. The filing system was unorthodox (a dusty pile beneath a bed), but it worked, and now we’ll have something to look at and become tearyeyed about again someday.
And there was even something from 1895; not the original, but a long-forgotten, weathered copy of a poem someone exposed me to when I was a 7th grader.
Some of the language isn’t politically correct by today’s standards, so you’ll have to substitute the word “woman” for “man” if you’re so inclined. I know poetry is kind of “out” in this electronic age, but I think this poem — “If” by Rudyard Kipling, best known as the author of the “Jungle Book” — still has something to say today, even if it is a little dusty.
IfIf you can keep your head when all about you, Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting; Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream and not make
dreams your master; If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster, And treat those two impoters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken, Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it on one turn of pitchand-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings, And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew, To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you, Except the will that says to them: “Hold on!”;
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings — nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you; If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute, With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run; Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And — which is more — you’ll be a man my son!

faceBook fan profile // Preston Hollow neighbor Loui S a Meyer is a dedicated DISD volunteer and a retired accountant from ARCO (now BP). She’s been married for 28 years to Jim, whom she met at SMU, and they have two sons Ben, 22, who just graduated from Yale and is returning to W. T. White to teach math and coach; and John, 18, who was a W. T. White salutatorian and is heading to Washington University in St. Louis to study business and play football.
what’s a little known fact about you?
Twenty years ago, I received a death threat related to a high profile trial where I was a juror.
what’s your most embarrassing moment?
I had a party at my house in high school. When two guys started arguing over a girl and were threatening to fight each other and then “took it outside,” my mom got out the garden hose and drenched them. Now I understand her logic, but then, I was mortified.
what’s your strangest or most random Facebook friend connection?
I’m not totally comfortable with all the personal detail everyone shares and considered deleting my page, but didn’t or won’t since having the page reconnected me with my best friend from junior high.
if you could only eat at one neighborhood restaurant for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I don’t have just one, but I’m a 30year fan of The Great Outdoors and can name most of their locations. My usual is No. 8 but I love to indulge with No. 21. If you say “specially dressed,” they’ll know you’re an old-timer.
what brings a smile to your face every time?
My husband’s unusual sense of humor or, actually, his heart for mentoring youth.
what item in your closet is most humiliating?
I have no idea though I have a friend or two who would probably like to tell me.
what are some jobs you’ve held in the past?
My first job was a Six Flags (St. Louis) riverboat operator. That cured my shyness. I was later promoted to guest relations where I wore a short skirt and “go-go” boots. When I wasn’t strolling the park taking guest surveys, I was on the receiving end of guest complaints from those who were mostly angry that we wouldn’t page their lost children and didn’t understand why others were being paged. (Just so you know, a page usually means the kid shoplifted or acted up on a ride.) And when I was a senior at SMU, I was a waitress at Andrew’s on McKinney, which is now Bread Winners. Andrew’s was like “Cheers” before the show was created. Our bartender reminded me of Sam. We definitely had a Carla. And they might have thought I was as ditsy as Diane, though I would have had nothing to do with Sam! we Love your back taLk. viSit advocateMag.coM to read and coMMent on this month’s stories and daily back Talk blog updates. comments may be printed in the magazine.

Preston Hollow residents can’t miss Jo H n Stack’ S handiwork. For more than 20 years, he and his volunteers have been planting thousands of trees along major roads from c entral to Stemmons, n orthwest Highway to LBJ, and everywhere in between. But that’s not all there is to this neighborhood conservationist. Stack devoted his life to the priesthood, taught at Jesuit High School during the 1960s, and ministered in East a frica for 10 years until he realized he wanted more out of life. He fell in love, got married, and, subsequently, was excommunicated from the c atholic c hurch. Despite that, Stack still leads a Sunday mass for a congregation at Vines High School in Plano that helps donate time and money to his tree-planting effort.
Have you always been a conservationist?
I’ve always been interested in that since I was a Boy Scout down at Christ the King Church in University Park. In Africa, I planted trees over there because I saw how they needed them. When I came back to Dallas, I looked around and said, ‘Hey, all these streets, they’re awful.’ I remember riding up Marsh Lane from Northwest Highway and thinking, ‘This is amazing, these islands are beautiful.’ Nothing was in them except some old hackberry trees. And I said, ‘I wonder if I could plant trees in this street.’ That must have been about ’89 or ’90. That’s how I got into it, and I can’t stop doing it. I used to water these trees out of the back of a car that I had. It was a Celebrity Chevrolet. I’ll never forget that. I had buckets in the back of that car, and I’d stop and water the trees.

WHAT TYPES OF TREES DO YOU TYPICALLY PLANT?
My favorite has been red oak. Secondly, I like what’s called a pistachio or a bald cypress. I have a fear. There’s this thing called oak wilt that’s killing oak trees. So I’ve been backing away from planting so many red oaks.
DID YOU RUN INTO ANY OBSTACLES ALONG THE WAY?
The biggest challenge is always trying to coordinate with whatever government agency in charge of where I want to plant. We planted a lot of the streets, so I always had to go to the street department of Dallas. I would target, and say we’re going to do Hillcrest from Northwest Highway to LBJ a year from now. I would send a note and say here’s my plans, and they would not respond. Then time would get out, and I’d keep writing them letters, ‘I’m getting ready to plant. We’re planting next Sunday.’ And then I wouldn’t hear anything. So, I’d just go plant. And then about a week later, I get one of these things called a momentum, a contract between me and the city to take care of these trees. I take care of them until they’re able to survive the Texas summer without my help. That takes about four years.
AS A CATHOLIC PRIEST, WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GET MARRIED?
It came out of my experience in Africa. It was really a marvelous adventure, but there was the loneliness. And I looked around and there were a lot of priests in Africa, bishops and cardinals, who were pretty easygoing about having a common law wife or something like that. And I’m thinking, ‘Hey, you know, this is just a manmade law.’ SoI came back theoretically not believing in this value. And one of the things I did when I came back was I was working with some volunteer kids, and they took me country western dancing one night. I used to go dancing sometimes seven nights a week, and that’s how I met Rosemary, when we were dancing. It just happened — I thought this is what I need to do, get married. I asked her if she could wait until I was 65. So we waited and got married on 05/05/05.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR LIFE TODAY?
I love what I’m doing. I love my life. I love being married. We have a marvelous fun time together. The community we have up there at Vines High School on Sunday mornings is a marvel; it’s just really great people. And they know I’m excommunicated, and they don’t care.

taste of nature
The Jacksons’ backyard bee house has people buzzing. The Hillcrest Forest couple built the small, 2-by-2-foot hive last spring, and within a week, it produced several sheets of edible honeycomb. Neighbors became curious, especially the kids who got a taste of nature. “It was so exciting for them. Some of them kept it and took it to school,” says Josephie Jackson, who grew up on 12,000 acres of farmland in Australia where her grandfather kept bees. She and her husband, David, have hives on their East Texas farm, and decided to try raising them in the city. It all starts with a kit to build the wooden house, which includes wax foundation boards around which the bees build the honeycomb. And the bees? The Jacksons order three pounds through the mail, and pick them up at the post office. The man-made hive starts with about 6,000 bees and could eventually hold up to 80,000. The Jacksons often handle them without protective gear, saying that widespread fear of bees is overrated. “It’s very relaxing,” Josephie Jackson says. ”I sing to them when I put them in. They particularly like ‘Beethoven’s Fifth’. We were thinking about bringing some café chairs and a table out here just to watch them.”

Delicious.
The walls may be lined with professional boxing memorabilia, but Southpaws attracts more than just athletes. “People are actually starting to care what goes into their bodies,” says owner Reza Anvarian, a retired boxer and Golden Glove winner. The organic smoothie bar has become a neighborhood hot spot for moms, kids and anyone who’s looking for something refreshing without all the additives. In fact, Southpaws replaces all sugar with agave nectar. “There’s nothing unhealthy in here,” Anvarian says. And there’s plenty of wholesome food on the menu, too, like the Green Gobbler spinach wrap and the gluten-free Zaza rice bowl packed with fresh veggies. “It’s good, clean food.” Everything’s made in an open kitchen in a bar-like setup, so things get pretty social. “It’s a health-food ‘Cheers’. Everybody knows everybody.”

eco-wine
BenziGer S A uviGnon BLA nC ($12) California>
The market for organic products in the United States has grown more than 25-fold in the last two decades, so it’s not surprising to learn that wineries have joined the move toward more eco-friendly products. But there are two important things to understand in a discussion of ecofriendly wine. First, it’s not as easy to identify a green wine — which can fall into one of four categories — as it is an organic potato, which is either organic or not. Second, no one has quite figured out whether eco-friendly wines taste better because they’re environmentally sound or because better winemakers use those techniques.
Eco-friendly wine falls into one of four groups:
First, “made with organic grapes”, which is regulated by the federal government. But this doesn’t guarantee that other parts of the winemaking process, like wood barrels used for aging, are organic.
Second, “organic”, which is wine made without added sulfites (though the grapes themselves don’t have to be organic).
Third, “bio-dynamic”, the next step beyond organic, based on principles established by European philosopher Rudolf Steiner almost 100 years ago.
Fourth, “sustainably farmed”, which calls for growers and wineries to use environmentally friendly, socially equitable and economically feasible methods to grow grapes and make wine. It’s certified by a private group, the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.
These eco-friendly wines are a good way to learn about what’s available, and you can find them all at Central Market:
• Chimango Tempranillo ($9): This red wine from Argentina, made with organic grapes, is from Familia Zuccardi, a pioneer in green wine in South America. It’s fruitier than a Spanish tempranillo, but not as fruity as a malbec.
• Benziger Sauvignon Blanc ($12) This sustainablyfarmed white, from a leading California eco-friendly producer, is one of my favorites. It’s not as citrusy as a New Zealand sauvignon blanc, with more traditional characteristics like lime zest. Best yet, it’s a hot weather wine.
• Sacra Natura ($22). This Spanish red blend is labeled organic, and has the Spanish balance between fruit and acid. There are also some spicy overtones, something to look for if you wonder how wine can have such a thing.

Lemon ice
It’s hot. Everyone is cranky. So buy some lemons on closeout and make this, which is so easy you’ll wonder why you never did it before. It doesn’t need an ice cream maker or top chef skills — just lots of lemons and and a freezer.
Serves four, takes about 2 1/2 hours (adapted from Mark Bittman’s “How to Cook Everything”)
1 to 2 c of simple syrup
1 1/2 c freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 12 lemons)
1. Make the simple syrup by combining 2 cups water and 1 cup sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and stir constantly until sugar dissolves. Let cool
2. Mix 1 cup of cooled simple syrup with the lemon juice. Add more syrup if it’s not sweet enough (which is a matter of taste).
3. Pour the mixture into a shallow glass or ceramic pan and freeze for about 2 hours. Stir every 30 minutes to break up the mixture, which gives it its unique texture.
ask the WINE GUY?
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BLEND AND A VARIETALWINE?
A varietal wine is wine made with just one grape variety, like chardonnay or merlot. A blend is made with more than one grape. There isn’t any difference in terms of quality between the two; mostly, the difference is in the person drinking the wine and what they like.

PRESTON HOLLOW RESIDENTS RECALL EVENTS THAT SHAPED THEIRLIVESAND CHANGED THE WORLD
EACH OF US remembers important days differently. Some recall in great detail where they were at the time the Berlin Wall fell or a president lost his life, while others rely on grainy video, old snapshots or history books for understanding. But eyewitnesses to history are all around us. Their firsthand stories add another dimension to the tales and images so ingrained in our minds.

EDDY MANN has seen history unfold all around him — mostly from the stands of more than 500 NFL games.
The 89-year-old World War II veteran and Preston Hollow business owner has been a Dallas Cowboys season ticket holder since the team played its first game in 1960 at the Cotton Bowl. But his pro-football memories go back a lot farther than that.
When Mann was 5, he and his father attended the 1925 game at the New York Polo Grounds between the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants when 65,000 fans came out to see the legendary Bears running back, Harold “Red” Grange.The significant turnout helped breathe life back into the struggling New York franchise.
“I remember part of the game,” Mann says. “I remember the star, the reason they had the crowd. They called him the ‘GallopingGhost’. He saved the NFL.”
Mann, a born and bred Brooklyn, New Yorker, made his way to Dallas in 1952. He regularly attended games at the Cotton Bowl before the city had its own team. Back then, everyone rooted for the Detroit Lions because of its star player, Doak Walker, a Dallas native, SMU graduate

One position in particular gave her an up-close view of history. October through December of 1963, Altshuler served as the first woman on the Dallas County Grand Jury — the one that indicted Jack Ruby after he killed Lee Harvey Oswald in the days following President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
Before her call of duty, she was a guest at the Trade Mart luncheon on Nov. 22 with her husband Charles Sharp, waiting for the President’s arrival that afternoon.
“It was a crisp, lovely November day,” Altshuler recalls. “There was a big crowd. There was a lot of excitement in the air. There were yellow roses and cocktails. They had the presidential seal in place. We waited, and we waited. People were buzzing.”
Finally, host Erik Jonsson, then president of the Dallas Citizens Council and soon-to-become mayor, addressed the crowd.
“He said, ‘We understand there’s been a shooting.’ Nobody was saying the word ‘killed.’ Nobody knew what was happening. There’s a lot of difference between being shot and being dead.”
Luther Holcomb, Dallas Council of Churches director, said a prayer, and guests began to leave.
“By the time we got to our cars, he had been pronounced dead.”
Flash forward to March when Altshuler was invited to attend Jack Ruby’s trial as a spectator. The courtroom was full of reporters. She watched the drama unfold

and Heisman Trophy winner. In 1958, the Lions versus the Giants, Mann decided to take a piece of history with him — a football that Walker kicked through the field goal after the Lions scored a touchdown.
“I said to my wife, I said, ‘Janet, I’m going to go down and get the football.’ She says, ‘You’re crazy.’ So, I went down there and predicted where it would go. I didn’t have to move a foot. It came right to me.”
He has kept that white, vintage football ever since, accumulating autographs over the years from Cowboys players like Randy White, Preston Pearson and RogerStaubach.
between the two lawyers: prosecutor Henry Wade, the down-home, country boy, versus Melvin Belli, the slick San Francisco attorney in the Chesterfield coat with the velvet collar.
“It was very interesting, just to see that cast of characters,” Altshuler says. “Ruby comes out with at least four security guards around him.”
Altshuler says that ever since Oswald’s murder, the police have been very careful transferring prisoners. Despite all the different stories swirling around Kennedy’s assassination, she says she doesn’t believe in any conspiracy theories.
“The Warren Commission appeared immediately. They were so intelligent and thorough. It was all fresh. Why did this little guy do this? We may never know.”

He and his friend stood amid the crowd of onlookers at the intersection of Market Center Boulevard and I-35. People carried transistor radios, listening to live coverage of the event. All of the sudden, the excitement turned to worry.
“I knew something had happened, and it wasn’t good,” Hallam says. “I didn’t know exactly what it was. And then, I heard that he’s been shot.”
Everyone’s fears were confirmed when the motorcade emerged from the exit ramp on its way to Parkland Hospital. Although he couldn’t get a good look at everything, Hallam saw Jackie Kennedy sitting in the car next to the President who was slumped over. Governor
John Connally’s car followed closely behind.
“There were secret servicemen all over the place. It was a terrible day for Dallas.”
Hallam recorded every newscast about the event and watched and listened as the rest of the story began to unfold over the next several days — the fatal shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald, the trial of Jack Ruby and the theories about why all of this happened.
“I was just fascinated by the whole thing.”
But most of all, Hallam says, he’ll never forget the women and their cries as the motorcade drove by.
“They were just wailing. I had never heard a woman cry like that. It stuck in my head.”

music theories
I must say that I have always been fascinated by the power of music.
It is a miracle, of course, that strains of music written centuries ago can so readily leap off the page and come to life or, even more surprising, leap from the heart of Bach into the heart of a man, woman or child today. How is it that a succession of sounds without words — say, Barber’s “Adagio For Strings” — can send me into a completely separate place?
The church I serve is a great place for music, with a choir of almost 150 and a talented music staff. Our Presbyterian tradition, however, didn’t start that way.
Calvin, our particular great-grandfather in the faith, mistrusted music in the church. Perhaps we can find some contemporary application of Calvin’s suspicion, since Calvin did not want any forms of worship that relied upon emotional manipulation at the expense of right doctrine and the praise of God.
Calvin once wrote, “... we find by experience that it has a sacred and almost incredible power to move hearts in one way or another. Therefore we ought to be even more diligent in regulating it in such a way that it shall be useful to us and in no way pernicious.”
In these days of emotionally manipulative praise songs with a good “hook” but not much content, we can appreciate Calvin’s reticence.
Few of us, however, would disagree that worship is not complete without music. As a preaching pastor, I treasure the partnership I share with our wonderful musicians. Each Sunday that I preach, it is the anthem that preaches to me.
When it comes to music, we are Lutherans at heart. Luther had a much higher view of music in worship than Calvin. He believed that good music is the very sound of creation. Listen to what Luther wrote about church music, in his own colorful way:
“... when man’s natural musical ability is whetted and polished to the extent that it becomes an art, then do we note with great surprise the great and perfect wisdom of God in music, which is, after all, His product and His gift; we marvel
when we hear music in which one voice sings a simple melody, while three, four or five other voices play and trip lustily around the voice that sings its simple melody and adorn this simple melody wonderfully with artistic musical effects, thus reminding us of a heavenly dance, where all meet in a spirit of friendliness, caress and embrace.

“A person who gives this some thought and yet does not regard music as a marvelous creation of God, must be a clodhopper indeed and does not deserve to be called a human being; he should be permitted to hear nothing but the braying of asses and the grunting of hogs.”
Luther had a fascinating concept of music — an interesting theory about why music reaches down deep inside the human spirit. He suggested that perhaps good music contains distant echoes of creation — when, in the words of Job, “the morning stars sang together for joy.”
Perhaps he was right — that music transports us to another time and place, to the profound joy God took in creating the heavens and the earth, in those first, pristine days when God commanded light out of the darkness, when the waters were separated by the firmaments, and the stars were spun into their places. Its lilting harmonies take us back to where it all began when, in the morning of everything, even the stars sang for joy in their creator.

d rivi NG W ithout mirrors is tou G h, a N d his W ere G o N e.
Chip Brosseau woke up, went through his morning routine, and headed out the door to his 1997 GMC Sierra. The crime was immediately evident — the driver side and passenger side mirrors were both gone. It was a frustrating way to start his day.
This was not the first time Brosseau had been the victim of a crime at his Preston Hollow South home.
“A previous car had a crow bar stuck through the door handle,” he says. “I have also had a bicycle and lawn equipment stolen.”

the c rime: a uto accessory theft
date: thursday, June 17
time: b etween 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
location: 8500 block of baltimore
In the two weeks following, several other residents were the victims of auto accessory thefts, especially high-end sports utility vehicles. Thieves made off with mirrors, air bags, engine parts, steering wheels, and tires and rims.
Finding replacement mirrors for Brosseau’s Sierra also proved to be quite frustrating — and expensive.
“I went to eight or 10 salvage yards in Grand Prairie. No one carried the part, and some even laughed,” he says. “They told me that GM has reduced the number of parts that they produce, and it has created a demand on the black market. If you can find the mirrors they are well over $500 a piece new, not including labor.”
Police told Brosseau that the crooks are particular in looking for parts they can resell.
“The thieves ride bicycles and look in cars,” he says. “They pull up in non-descript vans and scope out the cars and parts they want to take. If someone walks by before they are able to make their score, they simply drive off.”
Dallas Police Lt. Barry Payne of the North Central Patrol Division confirms there is indeed a lucrative black market in stolen auto parts, and that Preston Hollow has seen a recent increase in this type of crime.
“It just ebbs and flows like most others. Preston Hollow has experienced some increase of late in these vehicle crimes, and the North Central Police Division is increasing its patrols and surveillance in the area,” Payne says. “Thieves often target auto parts to sell to garages and individuals who repair cars that have had such parts stolen or damaged. The best advice is to park your car in your garage or in safe, well-lit places.” —SEAN
