El MIRADOR: El recorrido empieza en la parte alta del monumento, donde podrás apreciar al Cerro Catequilla 1 (3.632 m.s.n.m) en el este, y detrás del Cerro al nevado Cayambe 2 (5.790 m.s.n.m), al norte destacan las c i m a s d e l C e r r o L a M a r c a , a l o e s t e e l C e r r o Padre Rumi o Padre de Piedra (3.246 m.s.n.m) y El Casitagua 3 (3.515 m.s.n.m). Y finalmente al sur la ciudad de Quito, se encuentran las poblaciones de Carcelén, Pusuquí, Pomasqui, La Pampa, Cerro La Providencia y en días despejados el volcán Cotopaxi (5.897 m.s.n.m). 1 Catequilla (de “Kati Killa”, “el que sigue a la Luna”) es un sitio arqueológico de procedencia preinca e inca. 2 Cayambe de la palabra “Cayamburo” que significa montaña sagrada del sol. 3 Casitagua, es una caldera volcánica. Su significado ancestral es ‘Monte malo que está parado’.

The tour begins from the top of the monument, where you can see the Catequilla1 Hill (3,632 MASL) and behind it, the snowy Cayambe2 Volcano (5,790 MASL) to the east. La Marca Hill to the north, Padre Rumi or Stone Father Hill (3,246 MASL) and The Casitagua3 Hill (3,515 MASL) to the west; And finally small towns as Carcelén, Pusuqui, Pomasqui, La Pampa, Providence Hill and just on clearly days the Cotopaxi Volcano (5,897 m.s.n.m ) to the south. 1 Catequilla (from “Kati Killa”, “who follows the Moon”) is an archaeological site of pre-Inca and Inca origin. 2 Cayambe from the word “Cayamburo” which means sacred mountain of the sun. 3 Casitagua, it is a volcanic caldera, its ancestral definition is “Stand Evil Hill”.

Por ello, el objetivo del Museo Etnográfico es rescatar la identidad nacional, además de salvaguardar el patrimonio tangible e intangible de los grupos étnicos para las generaciones actuales y futuras.

PISOS INTERACTIVOS: Los experimentos interactivos forman parte de la renovada imagen del Monumento Ecuatorial. Tres pisos con equipos de última tecnología entregan a cadal turista información relacionado con la privilegiada ubicación en la que te encuentras, por medio de tu participación con cada artefacto. SOLSTICIOS Y EQUINOCCIOS. Los solsticios son momentos del año en los que el sol alcanza su mayor o menor altura. En el solsticio de verano, el sol alcanza el punto más alto al mediodía y atraviesa países del norte de la línea ecuatorial. Es el día que tiene la noche más corta del año. En el solsticio de invierno, el sol alcanza el cenit al mediodía y atraviesa países del sur de la línea ecuatorial. Es la noche más larga del año. Los Equinoccios son los momentos del año en los que el Sol está situado en el plano del ecuador terrestre. Ese día y para un observador en el ecuador terrestre, el Sol alcanza el cenit (punto más alto a 90 grados). INTERACTIVE FLOOR: Interactive experiments are part of the new technological image of the Equatorial Monument. Tourists can interact with each device and receive information about each of the experiments. SOLSTICES AND EQUINOXES: The solstices are times of the year when the sun reaches its highest or lowest height. In the summer solstice, the sun reaches its highest point at noon and it goes through countries to the north of the equatorial line. This day has the shortest night of the year. In the winter solstices the sun reaches its zenith at noon and goes through countries to the south of the equatorial line. It is the longest night of the year. Equinoxes are times of the year when the sun is located at the level of the terrestrial equator. In this day and for somebody who is observing from terrestrial equator, the Sun reaches the zenith (highest point at 90 degrees).

BALANZA. La disminución del peso en el monumento de la Mitad del Mundo se debe a dos factores. El primero es la altura del lugar, aumentando la distancia de una masa en relación del centro de la Tierra. El segundo factor corresponde a la fuerza centrífuga. En el Ecuador el planeta gira a una velocidad de 1650 km/h, mucho mayor que en otras latitudes, lo cual hace que disminuya el peso en un 0,5%. SCALE. The decrease of weight at the monument of the Middle of the World is given due to two factors. The first one is the height of the place, increasing the distance of a mass in relation with the Center of the Earth. The second factor corresponds to the centrifuge force. In Ecuador the planet rotates at a speed of 1650 km/h, much higher than in other latitudes, decreasing a 0.5% of weight.

LEVITACIÓN. La levitación magnética es el fenómeno por el cual un material puede levitar debido a la repulsión existente entre los polos iguales de dos imanes, electroimánes. En otras palabras la presión magnética se contrapone a la gravedad. Cabe decir que cualquier objeto puede ser levitado siempre y cuando el campo magnético sea lo suficientemente fuerte. LEVITATION Magnetic levitation is the phenomenon where a material can levitate due to the repulsion between the same poles of two magnets, electromagnets. In other words the magnetic pressure is opposing gravity. In fact, any object could levitate if the magnetic field is strong enough.
CAMPOS ELECTROMAGNÉTICOS La electricidad inalámbrica es la capacidad para transmitir energía eléctrica sin necesidad de cable alguno. Una de las formas más sencillas de transmitir energía de un sitio a otro es mediante el acoplamiento inductivo estándar, utilizado por teléfonos, alfombrillas de carga y cepillos eléctricos. Al conectar el equipo a una corriente eléctrica se genera en la bobina de transmisión un campo magnético que pasa a través de la otra bobina situada en el equipo al que se quiere transmitir la corriente de forma inalámbrica. ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS Wireless electricity has the ability to transmit electrical energy without using any wire. One of the simplest ways to transmit energy from one site to another is by standard inductive coupling, which is used by phones, charging mats and electric toothbrushes. When connecting the device to an electrical current, a magnetic field is generated in the transmission coil which goes through the other coil located on the device where you want to transmit the wireless energy.

EXPERIMENTOS INTERACTIVOS El experimento del salto del anillo fue realizado por Elihu Thompson, por primera vez, en Nueva York en 1887. Este consta de una bobina enrollada en torno a un vástago de hierro, que ocupa solo la parte inferior de él. En la parte superior se coloca un anillo de aluminio. Este experimento se explica por las corrientes que se producen en el aro inducidas por la variación de flujo magnético producido por la bobina. INTERACTIVE EXPERIMENTS The experiment of the jumping ring was executed by Elihu Thompson for the first time in New York in 1887. It consists of a coil wound around a rod of iron, occupying only the inferior side. An aluminum ring is placed on top. This experiment is explained by the currents produced in the ring induced by the magnetic flux variation produced by the coil.
EFECTO CORIOLIS. El efecto Coriolis es aquel que se observa en un sistema de referencia en rotación, cuando un cuerpo se encuentra en movimiento respecto de dicho sistema de referencia. Este efecto consiste en la existencia de una aceleración relativa del cuerpo de dicho sistema de referencia. Esta aceleración es siempre perpendicular al eje de rotación del sistema y a la velocidad del cuerpo. CORIOLIS. Es un equipo con un sistema de rotación que lanza dos ch o r ro s d e ag u a c on f r o n tad os. Un a v e z i n icia el movimiento de rotación, se puede observar como dichos sufren una desviación de dirección. MITOS. El experimento de mitos consiste en demostrar que el efecto coriolis no tiene mayor influencia en el giro del agua en un lavamanos como normalmente se piensa. Para demostrarlo, se han colocado dos lavamanos con la caída del chorro del agua en dirección opuesta en cada uno. Esto induce la dirección del giro, pudiendo observar que giran en sentido contrario en un mismo hemisferio.

CORIOLIS EFFECT The Coriolis Effect is observed in a system of reference in rotation, when a body moves according to that reference system. This effect consists in the existence of a relative acceleration of the body from the reference system. This acceleration is always perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the system and the speed of the body. CORIOLIS It is an equipment with a rotation system which launches two water streams confronted. Once you start the rotation movement, it could be observed that deviation of direction is given. MYTHS The myth experiment demonstrates that the Coriolis Effect does not have any influence on the rotation of water in a sink as is usually thought. To prove it, two sinks have been placed falling streams of water in the opposite direction in each one. This induces the direction of rotation, beholding that they rotate in opposite directions in the same hemisphere.

SALA SENSORIAL. Permite que tu cuerpo sienta los variados climas de nuestro Ecuador. Este espacio favorece la percepción de sensaciones y fomenta el aprendizaje. El recorrido comienza en las islas Galápagos, explorando su biodiversidad así como la belleza de sus paisajes que tienen temperaturas entre 7 y 28 grados centígrados, presentando climas de tipo tropical y desértico. El viaje continúa hacia la Costa donde podemos apreciar su variedad de paisajes y encantos, apreciando los efectos que tienen las corrientes del Niño y Humbolt sobre los climas que oscilan entre 25 y 31 grados centígrados. El trayecto nos traslada a la Sierra, allí puedes observar los nevados y la gran variedad de climas Tropical-Andino, Sub-Tropical, Frío y Glacial. El viaje concluye en el oriente, conocido por ser una zona selvática y de temperaturas que oscilan entre 24 a 25 grados centígrados, presentando lluvia constantes durante todo el año.
SENSORY ROOM It allows your body to feel the different climates of Ecuador. Let your senses discover the cold of the moor, the autumn breeze and the warmth of the tropical rainforest that are experienced in the country. This place promotes the perception of sensations and encourages learning. The tour begins in the Galapagos Islands, exploring the biodiversity and the beauty of its landscapes that have temperatures between 7 and 28 degrees Celsius, showing tropical and desert-like climates. The journey continues to the Coast where we can appreciate the variety of landscapes and charming, the effects of the Niño and Humbolt currents on its climates ranging between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius. The journey then takes us to the Sierra Region, there you can see the mountains and the great Tropical-Andean variety of climates, Sub-Tropical, Cold and Ice Age. The trip concludes in the east, known to be a jungle area and temperatures ranging from 24 to 25 degrees Celsius, presenting constant rain throughout the year.

La sala de fotomontaje, esta diseñada baja la técnica del “Croma”, que es una técnica audiovisual utilizada en cine, televisión y fotografía, para extraer un color de la imagen (usualmente verde o azul) y remplaza el área que ocupaba ese color por una imagen, con la ayuda de un computador. Ningún elemento de la escena debe ser del mismo color del fondo, sea del vestuario o algún elemento extra, puesto que, será eliminado de la imagen. Diversas imágenes de las Islas Gálapagos, el volcán Cotopaxi, el Centro Histórico de Quito, una toma nocturna de Guayaquil, el grupo étnico Huaorani y finalmente el emblemático monumento ecuatorial de la Mitad del Mundo. Photomontage The photomontage room technique is designed under the “chroma” technique which is an audiovisual technique in film, television and photography used to extract a color image (usually green or blue) and replaces the area color occupied by an image, with the help of a computer. No element in the scene should be the same color as the background, either from the costume or some extra elements, since it will be removed from the image. Various images of the Galapagos Islands, the Cotopaxi volcano, the historical Center of Quito, a night scene of Guayaquil, the Huaorani ethnic group and finally the iconic equatorial monument of the Middle of the world.
