She employs a deliberate reworking of our visual vocabulary, playing on our notions of nostalgia, with the intention of evoking a sense of narrative and movement. „‌I also wanted to try a different approach, by creating images from an idea in someone’s head, rather than the ’found’ images I often shoot. This project is about the tales and myths which we use to tell our own lives; memories, life-stories, beliefs. Inspiration of the series came from Davies’s friend whom she asked to write down their early childhood memories or nightmares. Viola as twins was a nightmare of a mother dreaming her daughter as twins: one blond with blue eyes and one brown with green eyes. The two girls did not notice each other in the dream but recognized the dreamer as their mother which she found very scarry.
