The concept is based on the fact that habitance is faced and examined as information. While focusing on the information within the frame of the city of panic [Bifo], we recognise the automated creation of imagination vibes without geographical base within urban space and we continue by declaring that capital, in reality, doesn’t refer to the production of material goods but to the creation of mental activity. Having that point as our general line of processing, within the limits of our scenario, we activate the reversed order of the inceptive, beginning from the creation of mental activity and reaching the point of the production and consumption of material goods. We talk about the commercialisation of habitance and we examine the information 7

as a good and the habitance as a good for promotion and sale. We create the Association that comes and stays in our site. The Association is supported by the various companies that are featured in its establishment. These companies produce and distribute furniture, electric and home appliances, decoration pieces, home equipment etc. The Association is responsible for the space given to the companies and their services and also, staff is hired and offered to the companies by the Association for the homogeneous management of the installation. The Association through specific collaborations and installations has developed a business scenario for product promotion; live apartment habitance inside the mall in our location. The main points of this strat8

egy are the following: The Association invests in the variety of product combinations by the habitants. The Association aims to the fact that the possible costumer relates to the habitance samples and examples displayed and suggested. It highlights the ways of usage of products live through the glass window facade and aims to the power of the image-window to attract interest like a lightened source and information transmitter. A characteristic of major importance, regarding the project’s design is the ability of its display to every site with similar points with the one selected, the existence of a port is mandatory while there is always the possibility of a cruise ship visiting the mall. The logic behind the creation and function 9

of the Association is that rules that constitute the project’s program are the ones defining the structure. This procedure, starting from the core of the program, the habitance tiles, depending on the various needs that occur, then concludes to different volumes. The importance of this logic lies in the elimination of the aesthetics and in the examination and focusing on the interior, while recognising the facades as necessary shells. In the extension of our concept, the project aims to its placement on whichever location and platform.

ENTRANCE 13.00

Vehicles and people can enter the building from outside the site through two separated routes. The first one, with a 10m width is designed for vehicles alongside those carrying and moving around containers and consists of a 10,5m high underground tunnel. The pedestrians’ entrance is also underground, nevertheless it has been designed mainly open-air, for comfort and natural lighting. This route is being covered with a bridge on a certain point, which is the continuation of the road inside the industrial area of the port. 15.00

The entrance to the building is also underground, to the first sector. At this point there is a spacious atrium with escalators at each side of the entrance, a central information point and ATM. The first escalator system lead to a level 6m higher than the basement’s and there are two more systems following. One of them continues to the Association’s administration offices while the other leads to the final platform, on the ground floor’s level; that’s the entering point to the main sector. At this point, there is also a playground. On the first sector of the building, below the level of the offices and on both sides there are additional rooms for engines, maintenance and assistance.

MAIN TOUR The main route on the central sector is the main constitutes the essential tour inside this space. It is 5m wide with all residential units turned towards it, so that it can maintain the major information. This is the reason why, the drawn arrows on the floor show the main direction every few meters and all the screens and advertisement messages focus exactly there. The visitor is able, at any point, to change his/her direction and “escape from the main route, though the 2.5m paths between the units. By taking this course, windows may not appear very often but more services, like mini markets, W.C. and coffee shops, may show up sooner.

W.C.

MINI MARKET

CAFE

COFFEE SHOPS, W.C., MINI MARKETS IN THE MAIN SECTOR Through the repetition of the tiles, in the main sector and in combination with the metallic supporting grid, the units penetrated by the columns become part of the special services category [mini markets, W.C., coffee shops, infirmaries]. W.C. have been designed and placed every 200m [minimum] of the main course and depending on the needs of the floor plan the rest of them became mini markets or coffee shops. Finally, 2 infirmaries for emergencies have been placed, near the entrance and towards the end of the main sector. 19

OASIS In the middle of the main sector, an Oasis has been designed. Despite the necessity of exterior equipment display, the Oasis is of great importance; it is the first stop-break from the beginning of the exhibition and their labyrinthine repeatability and the illusion of an exterior green space. Plats and greenery are real and they complete the fantasy of another exhibition.

ATTRACTOR The attractor of our building takes advantage of its location and focuses on the view and the city. The tour not only on the first sector of the building, where the entrance is underground, but also on the main sector, where the essence of disorientation is stronger, eliminating the openings and highlighting the repeatability and labyrinthine display, aims to the climax while entering the attractor. The view brings the orientation back while natural light and elements of the sky and sea offer pleasure, combining to the greater ensemble a rich meal for every preference and taste. Another characteristic of the attractor of great importance is that the services are available on a 24/7 basis and in this way it activates the building, also after the opening hours of the Mall and on Sundays, providing the possibility of tours in the main sector during night time. 5.05

On the third 5.05sector of the building, in the area of the attractor, a dining space has been designed. The preparation and cooking units follow the drawing logic of the main sector, using a different angle which has been calculated and examined in combination with the rest of the attractor’s program. In the restoration space, international cuisine has been selected as well as a great variety of dishes aiming to another level of possibilities and combinations. 25
