VFW Auxiliary members are encouraged to be involved in the legislative process, as it is a right and responsibility of all citizens.

BE AN ADVOCATE

BE INFORMED
Know what the VFW Priority Goals are for the current year. these goals are provided at the beginning of each year. Printable brochures can be found at vfw.org/ resources/prioritygoalsbrochure.pdf.
BE ENGAGED
Use the VFW and VFW Auxiliary tools and resources. We work hard to educate and prepare our members to actively participate in the legislative process. Visit vfwauxflorida.org for more details.
We need to let our lawmakers in Washington, D.C. hear our voices to help shape, protect and preserve benefits which support our veterans, service members and their families. If they do not hear from us, they will make decisions for us, and we will have to live with the consequences of our inaction. Let your voice be heard and make a difference.
You can find out who your local and state representatives are by going to: vfw.org/advocacy/ grassroots-efforts.
• Attend your local town hall meetings. Take the Priority Goals brochure with you to raise awareness about the issues most important to our veterans and families.
• Write a letter to your local newspaper stating your position and ask for the public to help by contacting their legislators.
Our heroes have answered the nation’s call in its time of need. Many service members have returned home with seen and unseen injuries that have changed their lives forever. It is our duty and obligation to see that they are cared for and not forgotten.
Every March the VFW goes to Capitol Hill for the Legislative Conference. There our voices are heard concerning our veterans’ benefits and if we do not advocate for our veterans needs and their families, who else will?
