Independent &
Connected
Welcome to
FABCITY FABCITY is a spot on the horizon, coming closer as we speak. It is the city where we will be living 20 years from now. A city wherein we are independent of large institutions for our basic needs. Where smart circuits are in dialogue with each other like nature itself. A blank, open source city where every individual voice can contribute to make a difference.

GARDENING THE CITY
FABCITY The Island FABCITY is a temporary city – on an island. Precisely on an island! Precisely on an isolated site in order to be able to make new connections. Precisely in a single location in order to bring together all those clever and inquisitive people. Precisely disconnected from existing systems in order to be able to test new ones.
FABCITY has its own circular systems for: - waste processing - energy - drinking water and rainwater - food - building and construction
The Rituals of FABCITY The crossing to the FABCITY island is a veritable ritual. En route to the future, a huge screen with moving images appears. Closer to it becomes clearer; the white screen turns out to be a layered landscape. This landscape is a new world that demands to be explored and discovered, with every fibre in your body.
The White Landscape of FABCITY FABCITY is open to everyone. Everyone’s voice can make a difference. Here, everyone is equal and can contribute. Wearing white Fab coats – state of the art design, with sensors that provide data – everyone moves through a forest of white flags and through pavilions of white materials. This world is blank, ready to be written, ready for projections, ready for the future.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
– In the summer of 2015 a collective of architects, designers, sociologists and sustainability engineers teamed up to create a visual concept for FABCITY. An exchange of knowledge across these disciplines and a good portion of untamed energy has led to the publication which now lies before you.
