COF/YAF Align Mentorship Program Photography: Brandon Tobias

The program’s objectives are: •

To support young architects in defining their legacy within the profession while navigating their career paths.

To create a vehicle for mentorship and career development that connects young architects and Fellows with peers across the country.

To accelerate contributions of young architects and develop regionally diverse collectives to contribute more in the future.

What is the Align Mentorship Program? • Collaboration between COF and YAF • Pilot program since late 2019 and is now ready to open for applications • Connects YA’s with Fellows • Groupings or “pods” are 4-6 YA’s with 2-3 Fellows • Long range initiative (think 10 years not 1) • Generate a 10-year plan • Apply for Young Architect Award • Apply for Fellowship

COF/YAF Align Mentorship Program Photography: Brandon Tobias

Duties: •

Participate in recurring “Pod” virtual meetings (encouraged to be quarterly).

Additional 1 on 1 meetings as agreed upon.

Assist the “Pod” members with reviewing submissions for recognition (YA Award and Fellowship among others). •

Not expected to be sponsor or letter writer

In person meetings are encouraged at AIA Grassroots, the AIA Conference on Architecture, and other regional conferences as opportunities present themselves.

COF Mentors: Call for Interest • Long-range perspective; “Pods” are expected to continue meeting for multiple years • “Pods” evolve as members progress through their professional development. • Resources available that set out examples of potential schedules, activities, and discussion topics • Expected annual involvement is ~8-10 hours but will vary based upon agreed upon activities. Help us launch the program! - The capacity for the program relies on the Fellows! Please send the YAF a note if you’re interested in participation: ryan.t.mcenroe@gmail.com or call/text (480) 244-9402
