EVENT REPORT LOCAL CONFERENCE 2012
AIESEC is the world’s largest, not-for-profit; youth run organization spread across 110 countries and over 1700 universities with over 65000 enthusiastic youth as active members. It forms a platform for students interested in world issues, a platform to discover and develop your leadership potential with exchange of ideas and people across countries.
AIESEC India is the largest committee member of AIESEC International. We have 20 local chapters in AIESEC India with AIESEC IIT Kharagpur being the youngest and the most innovative one.
LOCAL CONFERENCE 2012
Local Congress 2012 was a three day event which began from January 13, 2012 and aimed at full development and training of young AIESECers to understand the minutes of AIESEC beliefs. The performance of the Local Chapter was also reviewed department wise and the outstanding departments along with the members were awarded for their achievements. The main agenda of the meeting was to set the goals for the coming year. Congenial environment was provided for the fresh AIESEC minds to come up with innovative ideas.
DAY 1
The theme for the day was ‘REALIZATION of the DREAM’. The Local Congress began with the opening plenary where the Executive Body Walked-in and the chair was chosen. The Chair for the Local Congress 2012 was Mr.Shubhanshu Mishra, President AIESEC IIT Kharagpur (2010-2011). The meeting proceeded with the updates about the NLS given by Mr.Shubhanshu Mishra. The last year performance of local chapter was analyzed department wise and the target for the next year was declared. The Local Chapter was then presented with the vision of AIESEC for the year 2015 and a comprehensive session was held to let the young AIESECers speak their thoughts on the same. The outcome of the session was that the members came to know about the standing of the local chapter at national level.
DAY 2 The theme for day 2 was ‘UNEARTH the GOLDEN POT’.After a healthy breakfast, the Executive Body presented the updates from SONA, SOLA and SOGA at the opening planery.It was followed by the sessions ‘Engagement with AIESEC’ and ‘Product Packaging and Branding’ before the planery was dismissed for lunch. An external session was conducted by Mr.Subrat Naik, a renowned social servant whose organization, PRAVAH, is based in Balasore, Odisha.The aim from this session was:To build good industrial relation with industries in BalasoreTo make sure events of AIESEC becomes visible and that implies we can break-through the market. To get a better understanding of the mental make-up of the localites, their cultures and the problems this has crept into their society like illiteracy, malnutrition and helping the mentally disabled so the future projects and events of AIESEC IIT Kharagpur can be planned accordingly and be better focused on these issues.
After an informative external session, a fun filled EB Rotation was held where all the delegates, divided into groups, were allowed to personally interact with the new Executive Body and get to know them better. This opportunity was fully made use of by the new recruits. Awards Night: The most awaited moment of the Local Congress was indeed the Awards Night where the work of every department was reviewed and the deserving ones were awarded. The atmosphere of the planery was electrifying and everyone was pumped up. Filled with roll calls and anti-calls, every department wanted to lay their hands on that shining piece of metal.
DAY 3
‘PLAN the GOLDEN FUTURE’ After the opening planery, the day began with the most exciting Jive session ever. It was followed by the PBox session, presided by Mr.Ninad Sancheti, the Director Projects AIESEC IIT Kharagpur. His presentation dealt with project and event development. It was one of the most challenging, rigorous and productive session. The delegates were divided into 5 groups, made their own event and came up with plans regarding their branding, publicity, outreach and a purpose to help improve the society. The two and half hour session saw many innovative ideas developed by the members who were supported by one member of the new Executive Body.
