My name is Spatika Surapaneni. I am 19 years old. I am from Hyderabad. I study/studied at St. Francis College for Women I went to China for an AIESEC internship.

Different Community Halls, Project- Red Wings Job Description – My work was centered to being an English teacher, through which I had to ensure cultural exchange.

Impact Generated – The people I taught were  Old, highly placed retired officials in a number of different community halls – the energy that I got from the old people was immense and their enthusiasm brought my hidden talents and creativity out in a beautiful and unexpected way.  Autism children – The fact that they are autistic never stopped them from learning and their efforts always made me cry. It made me realize the value of life and knowledge which inspired me to work more for them and in turn myself. As an intern, I could deliver much more than what I had expected initially.  The old people could grab in a lot of information about my country, India and got quite fluent with understanding different accents. They also realized the importance of knowing English which could connect them to the rest of the world.  The autistic children got over their fear of meeting new people, especially foreigners and understood how large the world is and also got immense support which pepped them up to become even stronger individuals!

My Internship Experience At the end of the 6 week program in Shanghai, more than them learning English, I have learnt the following :  I have managed to pick up some Chinese to be able to communicate with the locals.  Mastered eating with chopsticks! This experience has taught me so much, that if I could survive in China, I can survive anywhere in the world as it’s a country where I never shared a common language! There was so much of learning and strength that was involved during the internship. Some of the incidents I recollect are so heart touching that could even make me cry. I, as a responsible individual, am now ready and all geared up to show the change in me and implement them in my life and AIESEC here in Hyderabad. My AIESEC Global Internship means a lot to me! 

Skills Developed  All the small things that mattered to me, are no longer a major problem as my whole mindset expanded and I started to look at the bigger picture! AIESEC is the only platform I feel is so capable of doing this, as they are so widely spread across so many countries that, it’s the easiest way to form our own network. There is so much that I have learnt through this, which is beyond just the internship.  This one experience has played such a major role in my career which transformed me into a more responsible girl. I have realized the value of money and time, the two most important things in life.  This beautiful experience has molded me into a much better individual and will positively take me much higher. I treat it as my first stepping stone to success.

I would like to thank AIESEC for all the efforts they have put in make this internship happen for me. Thank You AIESEC for everything! 
