Aiglon at a glance
In 1949 John Corlette founded Aiglon College on a distinctive ethos: the balanced development of mind, body and spirit. This philosophy underpins everything we do at Aiglon, both inside and outside the classroom. Aiglon’s open, alpine campus is its own village within a village located at 1’200m in a French-speaking ski resort
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The aim of the school is the balanced development of MIND, BODY and SPIRIT through challenge, respect, responsibility, diversity and service
LIFE AT AIGLON
School Day
The Aiglon School Day runs from 08h00 to 16h00 on weekdays.
WEEKENDS
Activities
Following classes, students are involved with activities until 17h30. Students select activities from those offered by the school. Timetabling may limit some activity options.
House Commitments
Students have house commitments in the evenings such as meetings and meal times as well as structured study time.
Weekends are highly structured. Students are required to complete nine outdoor expeditions each year. Depending upon the expedition, students can be away from campus for a day or for both weekend days. Moreover, during winter months the school week is adjusted for skiing, a required component of the physical education programme.
LEADERSHIP
Leadership opportunities are granted primarily to Year 13 students. Students can be chosen to serve as school-wide prefects, leaders in their boarding houses, and/or as leaders of different student organisations. The most senior student leadership position is the role of Guardian, which is granted to two school prefects each year.

IB AVERAGES (2019 - 2023)
IGCSE RESULTS (2022 - 2023)
PRE-IB
In May 2023, 45 Year 11 students completed the Exploration IGCSE Programme. Most Aiglon students sat between 8-9 IGCSEs.
26 Year 11 students studied Aiglon's bespoke Exploration Pre-IB Programme. They completed assignments that model IB coursework and connected with our local community by studying French and participating in Community Learning Week, an opportunity to better understand Aiglon’s environment through service. They also reflected on and researched challenges faced in their own home communities.

Senior school programmes
Aiglon senior students follow a rigorous and highlypersonalised curriculum that requires them to explore their world and enables them to pursue their interests.
EXPLORATION YEARS (10 & 11): PRE-IB, IGCSE
Aiglon offers the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), a two-year course that can culminate in the ICE (International Certificate in Education) Diploma, for students in Years 10 and 11. Those students who join the school in Year 11 take the Pre-IB curriculum, a oneyear course. Both offer a balanced mix of practical experience and theoretical knowledge while developing a range of core skills including knowledge recall, teamwork and problem-solving. Aiglon's Pre-IB provides a curriculum to develop the skills, knowledge and experience for all students to be prepared to excel in the IB Diploma Programme.
INSPIRATION YEARS (12 & 13): INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
All Aiglon students receive a high school diploma accredited by The New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC). Those who pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma are awarded that recognition as well. Some Aiglon students will choose greater flexibility in their studies and take IB courses but not enrol in the IB diploma programme.
KEY ACADEMIC POLICIES
- COURSE SELECTION
School policy requires that any Year 12 student enrolling in Higher Level Maths courses start on 4 HL courses; the expectation is that students will revert to 3 HL courses, as the IB is designed.
- PREDICTIONS
IB predictions for Year 13 students are available for universities in October and December. Predictions are determined by a student's teacher and are based on a student's performance on mock exams and internal assessments.
- GRADE POINT AVERAGES (GPA)
The unweighted grade point average for the current year is updated at the end of each term. Aiglon’s academic assessment periods happen in December and June for Years 10-12, and December and March for Year 13. Along with grades, each teacher internally assesses a student for Effort: Exceeding (E), Meeting (M), or Below (B).
- ACADEMIC DISTINCTIONS
Distinction Roll: Average GPA of 6.5 or above with no B grades.
Honour Roll: Average GPA of 6.0 or above with no B grades.
Merit Roll: 3 or more E grades (recognising effort not attainment).
