In a stunning display of Aiglon’s global community, over 700 alumni, parents, students, staff and guests gathered on campus to celebrate Aiglon’s 70th Birthday last June.
•
The Admissions team managed a record number of enrolments, with 125 new students joining the Aiglon community. Our student body totalled 375 at the start of the academic year.
•
64% of all new applicants came through word of mouth. Thank you to all Aiglon recommenders!
•
The Class of 2019 achieved an average IB score of 35.8, significantly above the global average of 29.63, allowing us to compete strongly with leading selective schools around the world.
•
Aiglon’s Summer School welcomed a record number of 250 students over the 5-week programme.
•
The Class of 2019 raised over CHF 180,000 to support the John Corlette Scholarship Fund and projects in the boarding houses.
•
The FOAC US raised over CHF 50,000 through an auction in honour of the 70th Anniversary; proceeds benefit Aiglon’s scholarship initiatives.
•
3rd Alumni Summer School Scholarship recipient joined the Eagle programme for students aged 14-17 on the 20th of July. This place is funded by the Aiglon Alumni Committee, Friends of Aiglon College US (FOAC US) together with Alessandro Corsini, President of the Alumni Association.

Not only did the Class of 2019 achieve the highest IB average score in Aiglon’s history, but 2 students earned the maximum 45 points, an achievement accomplished by only 0.12% of students worldwide.

98.5% of the Class of 2019 undertook the full IB Diploma, 100% passed.
•
92% of all IGCSE scores were awarded an A*- C; 46% of grades were at A or A*.
•
Aiglon provides a 1:6 Teacher/Student ratio.

Anchored in our founder John Corlette’s vision that education should extend well beyond the classroom, Aiglon launched a new Discovery Programme in the Junior School. The new 5-day academic week allowed us to expand our Trips & Visits programme. This enhances our students’ natural curiosity while introducing them to unfamiliar experiences. Aiglon offers cultural, adventure and service trips to ensure a balanced and holistic programme.

16 students became qualified ski instructors by passing the BASI Level 1 Alpine Instructor course.
•
Aiglon’s ski racing team is 50 strong, with 9 students qualified to compete in International Ski Federation races (FIS).
•
2 students have been selected to join their National Olympic Team and another is on the shortlist for the 2020 Junior Winter Olympics in Lausanne, with events in Villars and Les Diablerets in January 2020.
•
2 students represented their country at the Ski Mountaineering World Championships in Villars, March 2019.
•
Winter expeditions included volunteering with Handiconcept to ski with the physically challenged, a glacial descent of the world famous Vallée Blanche in Chamonix, overnighting in a mountain hut for the budding astronomers to get closer to the stars and ski instructor training as well as traditional ski mountaineering expeditions.
•
A group of teachers organised the 5th Annual Mountain Marathon as a Round Square fundraising event. The 42km course departs from Aiglon and climbs to the top of Les Chaux and Chaux Ronde before descending to the Lac des Chavonnes and returning to school. 10 students completed the full marathon and 4 completed the half marathon.

Aiglon students embarked on 41 International Culture, Service & Adventure trips including service projects to Cambodia, Costa Rica, Poland, Kenya, Thailand and Chile.
•
Students raised money to support the local refugee centre. This included a trip to the swimming pool (a first for some) and a farewell meal at a local restaurant to celebrate the relocation of their families to alternative housing in Switzerland.
•
Each of the 7 senior boarding houses raised funds to support 6 boys and 6 girls at Starehe Schools in Kenya.
•
A group of students, teachers, and alumni cycled 180 km around Lac Léman in a day to raise over CHF 4,800 for the Seba CZ Scholarship Fund.
•
Aiglon’s Green Council celebrated its 10th birthday. Beginning in the Junior School, this project now spans the entire school and is a recognised service activity. Each house has a student representative to focus on reducing waste and recycling.
•
Wellbeing Coordinator Ruth Fitzgerald works with a group of 20 student ambassadors and the student leadership team to build a sense of inclusion within the student body. The team advise on ways to balance the challenges faced in academics and sports while prioritising time for self-care: proper sleep patterns, eating healthily and regularly, developing emotional resilience, positive relationships and

1 student was awarded the World Bachelor in Business, a highly selective programme combining studies at University of Southern California, Bocconi University, and Hong Kong University of Science and Tech, granted to only 50 students globally.

The major renovation of Le Cerf and improvements to Clairmont mean that the school offers an everimproving quality of residential accommodation, firmly positioning it in a highly competitive boarding school market. The Campus Masterplan includes a new boys boarding house allowing for the redeployment of Belvedere.
