SURVIVAL GUIDE May 31- June 5, 2011 AIRSTREAM factory, Jackson Center, Ohio
WELCOME TO ALUMAPALOOZA 2011, the Airstream factory, and the town of Jackson Center, Ohio! You’re going to have a great week, and a busy one! It’s just about impossible to do everything on the program, so use this guide to plan your week.
FEATURED EVENTS Factory Tours Airstream will be offering daily tours of the factory (twice a day on Thursday and Friday). Only 25 people are admitted to each tour, so get to the Service Center early to register. Closed-toe shoes are required, and you should plan to walk about 3/4 of a mile. Note that production is shut down during the Friday afternoon tour. This means there’s less to see, but also it’s quieter so you can hear the tour guide a little easier.
Open House Saturday morning will be your chance to show off your trailer, or take a peek inside everyone else’s trailer. Decorate your trailer and you might win the coveted Airstream Life “Wally” award for Best Open House Presentation.
Rivet Masters Competition Think you know how to buck a rivet? Bring a team of two to the Rivet Masters Competition on Saturday and see how your team stacks up against Airstream professionals, and compete with other amateur teams for prizes! We’ll supply the tools and the rivets.
Bicycling With Airstreams The Airstream trailer makes an excellent support vehicle for bicycling adventures. Cross-country cyclists Bert Gustafson and Bert Kalet will talk about their incredible voyages, supported by their Airstreams and their spouses Marge and Dot. Bert and Marge will share their photos, route maps, journals, Airstream and tow vehicle equipment, and the bicycle. We’ve also got two local bicycle rides on the program, which are great opportunities to explore Jackson Center and the area. A LU M A PA LO O Z A SURVIVAL GUIDE

FEATURED EVENTS (continued) yogaFLIGHT Join yoga instructors (and sky divers) sKY:: and slaDE~ every morning for a group yoga class. They’ll talk about the benefits of yoga on the road, the benefits of yoga and stretching to us as we age, and lead you through some basic yoga poses. Your instructors will teach you the use of breathing techniques, as well as appropriate and safe alignment of the body. On Wednesday there will be a special Kids’ Yoga program, and on Thursday sKY:: and slaDE~ will run a separate seminar with lots of tips and advice for healthy living and eating on the road. Website: yogaflight.ca
Aluminum Chef Don’t think you can cook a great meal inside a little Airstream kitchen? Ask Eleanor O’Dea. She spent three years traveling full time – and cooking – in an Airstream. On Saturday she will cook up a gourmet meal on an actual Airstream galley, right on stage as you watch, sharing her tips and experience as she goes.
Geocaching for Beginners Geocaching is a 21st century scavenger hunt that allows you to find hidden goody boxes with a handheld Global Positioning System. Laura Steinberger will set up some practice caches for you to find on the Airstream grounds, and hide others around town. Just bring yourself, a handheld GPS if you have one, and learn all about the fun sport of geocaching.
Joe Diamond, Bizarre Magician Joe may look like a normal guy, but he has turned his fascination for the mysterious into a full time career! In only his early twenties, he has an amazing understanding of the workings of the mind, to the point where he defies the boundaries between what we assume can and can’t be done. ESP, telepathy, clairvoyance – you’ll be too busy having fun to wonder what to call it, so let's just call it “Bizarre!” Don’t miss him on Friday. Website: diamondcutmagic.com

Happy Hour An Airstreamer’s tradition, Happy Hour is a great chance to meet other folks who are attending Alumapalooza. Every day we share food & drink, give out great door prizes, tell bad jokes, occasionally sing, answer your questions, and provide the latest news.
Towing with Andy Thomson You may have seen the odd-looking vehicles Andy Thomson of Can-Am RV has set up for towing. Now’s your chance to learn the underlying principles that make those unconventional tow vehicles succeed. Not matter what vehicle you use to tow, you’ll benefit from hearing Andy explain how you can optimize your trailer hitch for better performance and safety. After the seminar, you can drive one of Andy’s rigs and see for yourself! Website: canamrv.ca
Trailer Park Troubadours Don't miss Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours on Saturday night! Expect a high-energy performance of trailer park tunes and beautiful ballads, with a lot of humor. And on Thursday, Antsy will be giving a solo performance of original guitar music. Performance by the Troubs at Alumapalooza 2011 is generously sponsored by AIRSTREAM. Website: www.unhitched.com.

SURVIVAL TIPS Please wear your badges! You need them to attend seminars, get dinner, and win door prizes. On the back side of your badge there’s a handy abbreviated schedule. Last minute schedule changes, daily door prize winners, and other important announcements will be made at 4:00 pm daily under the main tent. You must be present to win a door prize, and we’ve got some pretty good ones! Kids’ Program: Your kids will love the activities planned by Deb Woods this year. Please have at least one adult in attendance for your kids for all programs. Internet: There’s free wi-fi at the Airstream Service Center. Grab a coffee and make yourself at home. If you’d like a print of any of her photos, just let her know and she’ll send you ordering information after the event. Electricity: If you are connected to the electrical system, please note that you are sharing a 15-amp connection with three other trailers! If the circuit is overloaded, the breaker will pop and you’ll have zero amps. So please, don’t attempt to run an AC-powered appliances such as microwaves, hair dryers, or air conditioners. Use a blue tank and take it to the dump station or to the white pipe at the corner of Bambi Lane. Black Tank Pump-Outs: At any time you can empty your black tank at the dump station. However, if you prefer to have your trailer pumped out, use the brightly colored coupon included with your registration materials. Pump-outs will be provided in the morning on Thursday and Saturday. Tape the coupon to the back window of your trailer the evening before you want the pump-out, and also sign up at the Registration table. Note that someone will need to be present to pay the driver and pull the dump handles. Miscellany: No ground fires allowed, but an off-the-ground grill or fully contained campfire is OK.
