BONDIN’ WITH ‘Yer BARBER WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT GOING TO THE BARBER AS A KID? All I remember is sitting in a long queue in a smoke filled room waiting my turn with only a dated magazine to read ... things have moved on a lot since those days, we have pool tables, SKY TV and even chilled beer ..

SO HOW DID YOU COME TO BE A BARBER? I remember getting my first set of clippers at 14 and thought I’d have a go at it ... my poor mate was the guinea pig ... it was back in the 90’s so it was a middle partin’ with an undercut ... luckily styles have changed a bit since then ..

ANY TRENDS YOU’RE NOTICING FOR MEN’S GROOMING THESE DAYS? Currently it is very classic which is a real test of the ‘ol barber skills with getting the fade just right ... hairstyles are a major part of men’s fashion today ..

WHAT’S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU’VE EVER SEEN IN YOUR YEARS IN BARBER SHOPS? I think the charity haircuts were the craziest moments in a barbershop also havin’ a film crew in recently and workin’ with the cameras rollin’ was a bit strange ..

I’m sure it’s been said a lot but Mr Beckham is without a doubt the style icon for most men at the moment ... including myself ... his hair seems to set the standard for most of our work ..

took the country by storm, whipping up have we seen so much love for choux

pastry, celebration cakes and patisseries, so much so that supermarkets across the UK were reporting an increase in

sales, which could be directly attributed to this much-loved baking programme. But what affect has the ‘Bake Off’ effect had on our countrymen?

Inspired by the GBBO, it would seem men are now flocking to the kitchen

armed with flour, eggs and butter and are swapping their chef’s whites and

knives for a pinny and a wooden spoon. Men have long dominated kitchens in

restaurants, as well as on our TV screens, but it would seem that more are now turning to baking after watching the

master baker, Paul Hollywood, in action. This homely BBC television talent show

has helped to transform the nation’s view of

baking, broken the taboos surrounding male bakers and actually made it fashionable for them to embrace a mixing bowl.

covered in tattoos and a professional to take up baking, you’ll get nothing but love, respect and admiration.

The GBBO has shown the sheer level of creativity and skill required to produce

some of the more show stopping bakes –

where for some a degree in engineering or architecture might actually have come in useful. And it has also proven that home

baking is accessible to everyone, and you don’t need to be a middle-aged member

of the Women’s Institute to be successful. All you need is a bag of flour, a pot of

baking powder, a bit of sugar, some butter and a strong arm – and you can make an entire cake, it really is that simple.

So, clean up your foul-mouthed ‘celebrity

way to impress the ladies ‘Hollywood’ style.

A SUPERCAR IS REBORN The new Honda NSX was finally unveiled at this year’s Detroit Motor Show. It will house a twinturbo, hybrid drivetrain which will distribute the 550bhp through all four wheels. It will do so via three electric motors and a mid-mounted V6, meaning the car is longer and wider than the original concept. Looking like a cross between an Audi R8 and McLaren, the new NSX casts an aggresive profile with four centrally mounted exhausts, LED lights and a race-inspired diffuser. As can be expected from most powerful Honda’s, inside is trimmed in bright red leather, with the driver and passenger cocooned by the high centre console and intricate dashboard. It’s being hailed as Ferrari 458 thrills at half the price.
