BROAD STREET Worcester’s Broad Street leads you to the city’s famous New Road cricket ground, it also has some of Worcester’s longest standing independent shops popular with children and adults alike. Here you can find hard-to-get-hold-of toys, useful luggage, sports equipment, gorgeous homewares and vintage style children’s clothes, not to mention Cath Kidston goodies. Angel Place also has popular independent shops and everyone’s favourite bakery, not to mention brilliant markets full of local food, clothes, craft and gift traders that extend from Angel Place to the High Street most weekends. CATHEDRAL SQUARE Located in the heart of beautiful Worcester, Cathedral Square offers an exciting mix of retail and leisure. Here you’ll find the most popular high street shops, as well as enjoy brilliant bars and restaurants, make use of independent salons and stay in a well-priced hotel. As the name implies, you’re also just a short stroll away from the city’s breath-taking cathedral. CROWNGATE Crowngate’s two shopping areas, Friary Walk and Chapel Walk, offer everything a shopper could possibly need in two covered arcades. With more than 60 great stores of high street fashion and homewares, including the city’s most famous flower-seller and luxury jewellers, there’s also lively places to eat and drink. Crowngate is a destination in its own right. HIGH STREET You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping on Worcester’s High Street. It’s got all the big shops, as well as a few independent gems.
HOPMARKET Even before the imposing four-storey Hopmarket Hotel was built at the turn of the twentieth century, hop merchants were buying and selling local produce on the site as far back as the 1730s. While the hops have gone and the hotel has long since closed, the building is now home to an eclectic mix of independent traders. NEW STREET Historically significant, New Street played a major part in The Battle of Worcester when King Charles II escaped along New Street to Nash's Passage and fled the city. Visitors can still enjoy a drink in the King Charles pub, including a pint from its in-house brewery. New Street is also now home to many fantastic independents, where you can get everything from musical instruments to beauty treatments. REINDEER COURT Reindeer Court is a sophisticated shopping arcade located within the centre of Worcester. Specialist lingerie and vintage clothing outlets sit alongside an elegant florist, unisex hairdressers, leather goods, retro gifts, toys, comics and games, providing a rich and diverse shopping experience, while a traditional pub and cafĂŠ sit at either end of the Court, providing much needed refreshment.
THE SHAMBLES Just a short cut-through from the High Street, you’ll find a wide range of independent shops and cafes in The Shambles. Don’t miss the Gallery – a covered shopping arcade packed full of useful independent traders where you can do everything from get your phone fixed to buy a collectible comic. SIDBURY Though Worcester’s Sidbury is best known for The Commandery, famous for being the Royalist Headquarters during the deciding battle of the English Civil War in 1651, it’s also home to several independent shops and some of Worcester’s most popular restaurants. It’s also just a short walk away from the refurbished Royal Worcester Porcelain Works. FOREGATE Located near the train station, Worcester’s Foregate boasts several of Worcester’s most popular bars and restaurants, as well as some of the city’s most useful independent shops. Foregate leads on to The Tything, this is the go-to street for antique hunters – there’s a plethora of fantastic antique and vintage shops, selling everything from military memorabilia to stylish homewares.
