اليوم المفتوح باإلضافة إلى تفعيل،في سياق الترويج للجامعة ولكلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات نظمت كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات يوما ً مفتوحا ً يوم األربعاء،األنشطة الطالبية وقد دعت الكلية طلبة املدارس من الصف الثاني عشر للتعرف على. أبريل12 اجلامعة وكلياتها وإتاحة الفرصة لطلبة املدارس لالندماج مع طلبة اجلامعة في وقد تضمن اليوم املفتوح جولة لضيوف.يوم ساده جو من الترفيه واالكتشاف كلمة رحب، حكيم خالي. د، كما ألقى عميد الكلية،احلرم اجلامعي من الطلبة فيها بالطلبة وحثهم على متابعة مشوارهم الدراسي بعد احلصول على الثانوية . وحتقيق طموحاتهم املستقبلية،العامة
Dean’s Message Dear Students
I hope this semester is going on well for all of you. In this issue of the IT Bulletin, you will find an overview of most activities that were conducted during the last two months. My thanks go to His Excellency Saeed Salman the university President for his encouragement and support. I would also like to thank you all, organizers and participants, for the nice and friendly atmosphere that we all enjoyed during the IT College Open Day. I was pleased to welcome grade 12 students from AlShoola Private School who paid a visit to our College and shared with us many activities. As we are approaching the mid-term tests, Let everyone be relaxed and talk to his/her instructor during office in order to be well prepared for your exams. It is wise to start thinking of the coming summer courses.

Open Day As part of the efforts to promote the University and the College of Information Technology and to enhance AUST student activities, the IT College has organized an open day on Wednesday, 12 April and invited high school 12-graders to get them acquainted with AUST colleges and facilities, and interact with the college students in an entertaining day. The agenda included a tour in the campus, and a reception by the I.T. College Dean. Dr. Hakim Khali who welcomed and encouraged high school students to pursue their university studies and achieve their ambitions for the future.

The objective of this open day was to collect donations for Al Ihsan charity association, during the celebration of the Orphan Arab Day hosted by Ajman University on April 17.
أبريل يوم اليتيم العربي وسوف تسلم17 وقد سعت الكلية من وراء هذا اليوم املفتوح إلى جمع تبرعات لأليتام حيث أن اجلامعة ستحتضن في .املبلغ املتبرع به إلى جمعية األعمال اخليرية باسم كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات
The open day comprised several activities including: general knowledge competition, computer games, snake and ladder game, chess game, and more. The college faculty and staff also joined the visiting students on that day and shared with them many of these activities. The college delivered valuable gifts for the winning students as well as for the members of AUST Student Scientific Association, for their hard work in organizing the event.

وفي هذا الصدد.اختيار وجهة الرحلة واالستماع إلى اقتراحاتهم مارس رحلة إلى حديقة زعبيل لفائدة طالبات29 نظمت الكلية يوم . أبريل7 الكلية ثم رحلة أخرى إلى حديقة املمزر لفائدة الطالب يوم وقد استمتع الطالب والطالبات بهاتني الرحلتني ومبا تضمنتهما من وحفل، وكرة القدم،أنشطة مختلفة تنوعت ما بني صيد السمك .شواء والعديد من األلعاب األخرى

وقد ضمت املسابقة فرقا من كلية. نظمت كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات مسابقة البرمجة بني خمسة فرق من داخل اجلامعة،2011 في فبراير تلت هذه، لذلك. فقد كان من الصعب على املشرفني اختيار أفضل املبرمجني، ونظرا الحتدام املنافسة.تكنولوجيا املعلومات وكلية الهندسة واختير بعدها الطالب الذين أظهروا االلتزام والعمل اجلاد ليمثلوا جامعة عجمان في مسابقة البرمجة،املنافسة سلسلة من الدورات التدريبية . مارس الفائت31 التي أقيمت على مستوى جامعات اخلليج العربي في جامعة الشارقة يوم

Entertaining Activities From student: Khader Shashaa

the type or venue of such activities. Thus, the College organized a fun trip to Zabeel Park for women students on March 9, and another trip to Al Mamzar Park for men students on April 7. All students enjoyed these two trips and the various activities included namely fishing, football, barbecue and other games.
Programming Contest
From Mr. Rawhi Al Rai Teaching Assistant College of Information Technology
In February 2011, the College of Information Technology organized an internal programming contest between five teams. The contestants were students from the College of Information Technology and the College of Engineering. The competition was so tight that it was difficult for the supervisors to choose the best programmers. Therefore, the competition was followed by a series of training sessions, and the students who showed commitment and hard work were selected to represent AUST in the Gulf Programming Contest, which took place in the University of Sharjah on March 31.

Workshops
Training workshop The College hosted on 23rd of March a representative from New Horizons Institute, Sara Ameer Samoor, to educate students on the importance of IT training after graduation. Sara stated multiple domains in computer tracks: networking, programming and web development, and computer management. She explained to students how to choose the field more appropriate to them according to future aspirations, and what are the conditions that must be met to start these tests. She also made it clear that when a graduate obtains one of these certificates coupled with the college degree, it will very likely increase employment
Useful solutions for dealing with computer problems When there is any malfunction with our P.C.s we rush trying to figure out the problem and strive to modify it. opportunities. The happy coincidence for us was that Sarah is a 2009 graduate of the AUST Computer Engineering Department. She joined New Horizon upon her graduation as Account Manager. Sarah expressed gratitude H.E. Excellency Dr. Saeed Salman for the quality education he provided to her and her colleagues. She also was thankful for obtaining this position at well-known institute in a short time, and that she wanted to transfer her experience to students through the best way to get a job immediately after graduation. It is worth noting that the presentation was appreciated by all and the college is proud to see its graduates successful in their career life.

Engineer Rawhi talked to students on the possible problems of the PC and how to deal with them. He used VMware work station, which allows each student to use the virtual machine of the default device for training in problem-solving and doing (Format) without affecting the device.

Practical training for graduating students under the College supervision From Student: Yaseen Saleh Fadhel
The College of Information Technology organized on 23rd of January a training plan for some of the graduating stu-
dents from the Computer Engineering Department and they are: Yaseen Saleh Fadhel, Mohamed Saleh Samour, Mohamed Wald Yousef Wald Jeddou, and Tariq Ziad Zaher. The plan is a full project of preparing a network lab for different phases that starts from planning and designing, then structuring, installing, and finally testing and documenting. The project was fully supervised by Eng. Rawhi Al Rae, to ensure that the work would be done within the specific timeframe and achieve high quality. In addition to technical experience, the students gained lots of skills to improve their profiles. These skills are: ability to work in group, communication with different parties, commitment, problem solving, and leadership. The objective of the project is to create a fully equipped laboratory for practical courses and pave the infrastructure required for the establishment of the Cisco Academy.

Whether used for simple phone calls, children games or running a business, the mobile phone has made a huge difference in our life. With smartphones, people can perform many tasks as they do with a laptop. Smartphone users now store all their personal information, banking details, business projects and other valuable data on their smart-phones, which may also be synchronized with computers through Internet and become popular target not for pickpockets in the streets, but they are now increasingly targeted by cyber criminals who have been using the
Internet to make money through all kinds of scams and frauds. The latest report published by PCWORLD magazine on the Five Big Security Threats for 2011 mentioned mobile apps as the first big security threat, “more than 50 third-party applications on Google’s official Android Market contained a Trojan called DroidDream. When you run a DroidDream application for the first time, the malware gains administrator access over your phone without your permission, according to mobile security firm Lookout. This means it could download more malicious programs to your phone without your knowledge and steal data saved on your device”. PCWorld March 10, 2011 Think of your mobile phone in the same way as your computer. Only accept messages, downloads and applications from reliable sources, just like you would do when using your PC. Any multimedia message (mms) that prompts an installation should be refused. Disable your phone’s Bluetooth discoverability.
