Dean’s Message

The College of IT congratulates Dr. El Fadil Abdullah on the birth of a new baby girl, Inas. We wish Inas and her parents good health and good luck.

Dear Students,

GITEX Trip

The first semester is over and I hope you obtained good results. If not, don’t worry, you can improve. Just put some thought into what went wrong and make an effort to remedy the situation. Don’t give up! As stated in the University calendar, classes have began on Sunday, January 31, 2010. I strongly advise all students to meet with their advisors to discuss their academic status, select their courses properly, and register. Remember, if you have a job outside the University, don’t overload yourself with work because that is likely to lead to poor academic performance. Finally, if you have any concerns please inform us and we will do our best to help you on the road to success. Good luck! From Dr. Hakim Khali Dean of the College of Information Technology

The College of information Technology organized a trip to GITEX on October 15, 2009. As always, GITEX was a good opportunity for IT professionals and students to learn about cutting edge technology. Many leading IT companies conducted short presentations illustrating their new products and giving talks on innovative hardware products. The trip provided students with a great opportunity to enrich their knowledge. From Student Hend Bishr Computer Science Major

As part of the effort of the College of Information Technology to provide high quality education through the implementation of the latest computing technology, and the continuing cooperation between Microsoft and the College, a meeting was arranged to discuss ways of how our students and faculty members can benefit from this cooperation. It was agreed that Microsoft will provide tools that can be used in implementing graduation projects and help in training IT graduates. In addition, IT students will be given the opportunity to attend Microsoft certification programs. There is also the possibility of implementing joint government and private sector projects in various areas of information technology with the help of faculty members and graduating students at the Bachelor and Masters levels. Google began in March 1996 as a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Ph.D. students at Stanford working on the Stanford Digital Library Project (SDLP). Nowadays, Google plays a big part in different areas which are: search, mail, mobile operating systems, advertising and mapping. The company is ever expanding, however, Google has just introduced an entirely new programming language, taking influences from C++ and Python, called, quite simply, Go. The language combines the development speed of working in a dynamic language like Python with the performance and safety of a compiled language like C or C++. Who knows, we may find after few years this language leading in the field of web development and software engineering.
