The National Programming Contest (NPC) Programming contest is a real challenge to those students who are eager to reach heights of professional programming. Programming contest is conducted once a year. Typically ten to twelve problems are attempted in a five-hour challenge. The problems are of varying difficulty and flavor. Three teams from AUST College of Information Technology and College of Engineering participated in the 10th NPC which was organized by Sharjah University on 31st of March 2010. At Ajman University of Science and Technology, we provide the same testing environment to the subscribing stu dents. We have conducted two training exams, one in the first semester 2009/2010 and one in March 2010. The results were declared in a separate memorandum. From Mr. Hassan Sahyoun Program Supervisor
Dean’s Message Dear Students, The second semester is over. I hope you had a successful academic year. For those of you who will graduate, I would like, on behalf of my colleagues, to wish you a successful professional career. For the remaining ones, take a rest in summer and come back next semester with high motivation and energy! In this issue of our IT Bulletin, you will find a summary of the most important activities that were conducted by our IT College during the Spring Semester. I strongly encourage our IT students to participate in these activities and suggest new ones to our Students’ Association Coordinators. Finally, I am pleased to announce that the IT College has just obtained the approval from the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research to offer a new IT degree starting next Fall Semester 2010-2011 with two concentrations: Networking & Security and Databases & Web Systems. Dubai Mall Trip The College of Information Technology is keen on encouraging various scientific and entertaining activities for students so as to make sure that they complete their study process in an easy and enjoyable way. The IT College organized a trip on 27 March 2010 for women students to Dubai Mall, under the supervision of Ms. Sabeeha, the university sports trainer. المسابقة الوطنية للبرمجة
تتعد املسابقة الوطنية للبرمجة حتديا حقيقيا للطلبة الذين يحرصون على الوصول إلى أعلى املراكز في هذا التخصص .وجتري املسابقة مرة واحدة في السنة ،وهي حتتوي عشرة إلى اثنتي عشر مسألة متفاوتة الصعوبة ،يتعني على املتنافسني حلها في خمس ساعات. وقد شاركت ثالث فرق من كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات وكلية الهندسة في الدورة العاشرة من املسابقة الوطنية للبرمجة والتي نظمتها جامعة الشارقة في 31مارس .2010 وجتدر اإلشارة إلى أن جامعة عجمان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا توفر نفس بيئة االختبار للطلبة ،حيث نظمت اجلامعة مسابقتني داخليتني إحداهما في الفصل الدراسي األول 2010/2009واألخرى في مارس .2010
كلمة العميد
أعزائي الطلبة، لقد انتهى الفصل الثاني الذي أمتنى أن يكون تتويجا لسنة من اجلد واالجتهاد .وأصالة عن نفسي ونيابة عن غيري من إخواني الزمالء ،أغتنم هذه الفرصة لتهنئة جميع الطلبة الذين سيتخرجون هذه السنة ،متمنيا لهم مستقبال مليئا بالنجاحات .وللطلبة الذين سيكملون معنا هذه الرحلة السنة القادمة ،فأدعوهم الغتنام عطلة الصيف للترويح عن أنفسهم واستجماع طاقتهم للعودة بحماس أكثر الفصل القادم .وفي هذا العدد اجلديد من نشرة كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات ،جتدون خالصة أهم األنشطة التي نظمتها الكلية خالل الفصل الربيعي من هذه السنة .ونحن دائما حريصون على تشجيع طلبتنا للمشاركة في هذه األنشطة واقتراح أنشطة جديدة على منسقي اجلمعيات الطالبية .وفي اخلتام ،يسرني أن أزف إلى كل منتسبي كليتنا خبر حصولنا على اعتماد وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي لبرنامج بكالوريوس تكنولوجيا املعلومات اجلديد الذي يقدم تخصصني مميزين هما الشبكات وأمن املعلومات و قواعد البيانات ونظم اإلنترنت .وسنطلعكم على تفاصيل أكثر من هذا املوضوع في العدد القادم من نشرة تكنولوجيا املعلومات. بقلم د .حكيم خالي عميد كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات

ندوة خدمات الشبكة العالمية نشاركت مجموعة من طلبة كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات بجامعة عجمان في «الندوة الدولية الثالثة حول خدمات الويب» املنعقدة يوم 21أبريل 2010بجامعة زايد في دبي .وقد رحب رئيس الندوة الدكتور عماد البطاينة ،وعميد كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات الدكتور جوليان ليون بالطلبة واألستاذ محمد صالحات ،عضو هيئة التدريس في كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات ،ووجه الشكر لهم جميعا على مشاركتهم .وقد حضر وفد اجلامعة اجللسة االفتتاحية وبعض العروض الهامة .وكان الهدف األساسي من الزيارة هو تعزيز معرفة الطالب حول خدمات الويب األساسية وتسليط الضوء على آخر األبحاث والتطورات التكنولوجية في مجال خدمات االنترنت وتأثيرها على األعمال التجارية وتكنولوجيا املعلومات .وقد دعا السيد صالحات بعض ممثلي الندوة للمشاركة في مؤمتر الكلية الذي ستنظمه في ديسمبر املقبل. بقلم أ .محمد صالحات عضو هيئة تدريس ،كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات
ندوة التصوير الرقمي دعت كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات في 14أبريل 2010السيد راؤول جابات، املصور املتخصص في شركة كانون الشرق األوسط وأفريقيا ،لتقدمي ندوة حول التصوير الرقمي بهدف تثقيف الطلبة حول مسابقة التصوير الرقمي ( )NDISC2010التي نظمتها جامعة خليفة في مايو .2010استعرض السيد راؤول عدة مواضيع مثل تعريف التصوير الفوتوغرافي ،وأنواع الكاميرات .وكان الطلبة سعداء جدا بحضور هذه الندوة التي من شأنها حتسني مهاراتهم في التصوير وتلقينهم أسرار صنع صور جميلة لتحفيزهم على املشاركة في املسابقة املقبلة. بقلم أ .أمينة أبوشرخ منسقة اجلمعية العلمية للطالبات مساعد محاضر

سمو الشيخ عمار النعيمي يفتتح مؤتمر المرأة والتعليم اإللكتروني بجامعة عجمان برعاية من صاحب السمو الشيخ حميد بن راشد النعيمي ،عضو اجمللس األعلى حاكم عجمان ،افتتح سمو الشيخ عمار بن حميد النعيمي ،ولي عهد عجمان ورئيس اجمللس التنفيذي ،مؤمتر «املرأة والتعليم اإللكتروني :مكامن وحتديات» الذي نظمته جامعة عجمان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا بالشراكة مع جمعية أم املؤمنني، احتفاء بيوم العلم في ذكراه الرابعة والعشرين التي ينظم هذا العام حتت شعار «العلم خُ لُق ».وألقى سمو الشيخ عمار كلمة املؤمتر االفتتاحية نيابة عن صاحب السمو حميد بن راشد النعيمي، راعي يوم العلم وراعي املؤمتر .وفي كلمته قال سمو الشيخ« :إنه ملن دواعي سرورنا أن نلتقي في هذا اليوم بهذه النخبة من أبناء اجملتمع احملبني لوطنهم العاملني على رفعة شأنه واحلريصني على اكتساب كل ما هو حديث من املهارات واملعارف في سبيل املساهمة الفاعلة في تنميته وتطويره. وقد تلت كلمة سموه كلمة معالي د .سعيد عبد اهلل سلمان ،الرئيس األعلى جلامعة عجمان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا ،ألقاها نيابة عنه األستاذ ثامر سعيد سلمان ،نائب رئيس اجلامعة للشؤون اإلدارية واملالية. وقد شارك في املؤمتر متحدثون رئيسيون من خلفيات مختلفة في مجال التعليم ،وهم سعادة الشيخة الدكتورة إيشاع آل خليفة، نائبة رئيس املعهد امللكي لبنات البحرين وعميدة كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات ،من مملكة البحرين ،والدكتور أحمد الدباغ ،مدير إدارة خدمات التعليم اإللكتروني في جامعة عجمان ،والدكتورة زهرية شناعة ،عضو هيئة التدريس بكلية التربية والعلوم األساسية مبقر اجلامعة بالفجيرة ،والدكتور ثروت السكران ،من اجلامعة األمريكية في الشارقة ،والدكتور حكيم خالي ،عميد كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات بجامعة عجمان ،والسيدة شيخة حمد غامن مغاور ،معلمة التربية الفنية مبدرسة أم عمار للتعليم األساسي مبنطقة عجمان التعليمية ،واألستاذة عبير ملكاوي من جامعة آل خليفة ،والسيدة بسمة الشحي من مدرسة اجلرف النموذجية للتعليم الثانوي في عجمان. وتضمن املؤمتر جلسات عمل مختلفة ،من بينها ثالث جلسات متحورت حول التعليم االلكتروني ودوره في تطوير املعلمني والطلبة ،وتطبيقات التعليم اإللكتروني ،وأثر جتربة التعليم اإللكتروني في مساعدة املرأة على السعي لتحقيق التفوق التعليمي .كما شهد املؤمتر ثماني ورش عمل ناقشت العديد من املواضيع مثل استخدام اللوحات الذكية ،واستخدام م��وارد التعليم اإللكتروني ،وتكوين مواد تعليمية باستخدام نظم التعليم اإللكتروني ،وذلك بالتعاون مع كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات. ملزيد من املعلومات يرجى مراجعة موقع اجلامعة اإللكتروني. www.ajman.ac.ae من اجلدير بالذكر أن صاحب السمو الشيخ حميد بن راشد النعيمي قد كرم جامعة عجمان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا لتنظيمها مؤمتر «املرأة والتعليم اإللكتروني :املكامن و التحديات» في احتفال يوم العلم الرابع والعشرين الذي عقد في مقر جمعية أم املؤمنني بتاريخ 21مارس .2010
المعرض االفتراضي للتعليم شاركت جامعة عجمان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا في املعرض االفتراضي للتعليم الذي نظمه شركة بيت. كم بالتعاون مع مدينة دبي األكادميية العاملية .في الفترة من 23إلى 29مايو ،2010واملعرض االفتراضي للتعليم هو عبارة عن بوابة إلكترونية على االنترنت تصل اآلالف من الطلبة وأولياء األمور واملدرسني واملوجهني باجلامعات والكليات واملعاهد التعليمية في الشرق األوسط وأوربا وآسيا ومختلف مناطق العالم ،ضمن بيئة تفاعلية حية عن طريق املوقع . www.vefme.comوقد وفر هذا املعرض فرصا غير مسبوقة أمام الطالب التخاذ قرارات مدروسة من خالل التفاعل مع مزودي اخلدمات التعليمية واالستشاريني عن طريق الرسائل النصية والتواصل املباشر عبر الفيديو .وعالوة على ذلك ،فقد وفر هذا املعرض إمكانيات واسعة للطلبة للبقاء على تواصل دائم مع مجموعة كبيرة من املؤسسات األكادميية للحصول على آراء قيمة ومعلومات وافية حول البرامج احلالية واملستقبلية ،دون أية رسوم أو تكاليف.

His Highness Sheikh Ammar Al Nuaimi Opens “Women & E-Learning” Conference at Ajman University
The Third International Symposium on Web Services A group of AUST Information Technology College students participated in “The Third International Symposium on Web Services” on 21/4/2010, organized by Zayed University in Dubai. The Symposium Chair; Dr. Imad Bataineh, and the Dean of Information Technology College; Dr. Leon Jolian, welcomed the students and Mr. Mohammed Salahat, the IT College member, and thanked them all for their participation. AUST delegation attended the opening session and some important presentations. Each presentation was followed by a panel discussion. The primary aim of the trip was to enhance the students’ knowledge of basic Web Services and highlight the latest research and technological advances in the area of Web Services and its ongoing impact on business and IT. Digital Photography Seminar The College of Information Technology, invited on the 14th of April 2010 Mr. Raul Gabat, Canon Middle East & Africa DSLR Product Specialist, to deliver a seminar about Digital Photography and educate students on the National Digital Imaging Student Competition (NDISC2010) which will be organized by Khalifa University in May 2010. Mr. Raul covered several topics such as definition of photography, and types of cameras. The students were very delighted to attend this seminar which improved their shooting skills. They learnt the secrets of making nice pictures and many expressed their will to participate in the upcoming NDISC2010. His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and President of the Executive Board, opened the conference, which was on the topic of ‘Women and E-Learning: Potentials & Challenges.’ The event, organized by Ajman University of Science & Technology (AUST) in cooperation with Umm Al Mumineen Association, marks the celebration of the 24th Knowledge Day under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi. His Highness Sheikh Ammar gave a speech on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Patron of Knowledge Day and of the conference. In the speech, His Highness stated that it gave him great pleasure to know that those gathering for the conference are working to develop the skills and knowledge of the public in order that they might contribute actively to the development of society. Following his address, Mr. Thamer Saeed Salman, AUST Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, gave a speech on behalf of His Excellency Dr. Saeed Abdullah Salman, President of AUST. Keynote speakers who took part in this event were from different backgrounds of the education field, namely Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Eashaa Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Royal Bahrain Girls School and Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Ahmad Dabbagh, Director of the E-Learning Services Department at AUST, Dr. Zahreya Shanaa of the College of Education and Basic Sciences at AUST’s Fujairah Campus, Dr. Tharwat Al Sakran from the American University of Sharjah, Dr. Hakim Khali, Dean of AUST’s College of Information Technology, Ms. Sheikha Hamad Ghanem Moghawer, teacher of art education at Umm Ammar primary school in Ajman, Ms. Abeer Malkawi from the University of Khalifa, and Ms. Basma Al Shehhi from Al Jurf Secondary School in Ajman. The conference included various sessions, including three on e-learning and its role in the development of teachers, students and e-learning applications, and the experience of the impact of e-learning in helping women pursue educational excellence. Eight workshops are also done, focusing on the interactive smart board, the use of e-learning resources, and configuring educational material using e-Learning systems, with the cooperation of the college of Information Technology. Virtual Educational Fair
Ajman University took part in the Virtual Educational Fair (VEF). VEF is an online education fair that connects thousands of students, parents, teachers and guidance counselors with universities, colleges, educational institutes and training providers from the Middle East, Europe, Asia and abroad in a live, interactive environment through the website: www.vefme.com which was held from 23 May to 29 May 2010.
