TO OUR 1ST QUARTER 2015, LUXURY MARKET REPORT. It’s springtime in Northern Nevada and with spring comes many new sellers and buyers into the market. The first quarter of 2015, improved over the same period in 2014, with an increase in the number of homes sold and average sold per square foot price, along with a decrease in the average days on market. Over 88% of the sales were between $1 million and $1.5 million, while nearly 12% of the sales were between $2 million and $2.5 million. We expect the positive trends to continue into the second quarter as interest rates remain low and the local economy continues to grow. While the steady 1st quarter sales are encouraging, price continues to be an important factor when selling, as the inventory of luxury homes for sale is growing. As of the date of this report, 132 homes over $1 million dollars were listed for sale in the greater Reno/Sparks area, equating to a two year supply of inventory.
