Dickson Realty’s June 2017 Newsletter The Current Political Climate and Mortgage Rates With the uncertainty of the Trump administration along with the current global political climate, people are weary about the effect politics will have on the mortgage industry, or more specifically, mortgage rates. Due to concern about what is happening on Capitol Hill, people are moving their money into mortgagebacked securities. This is because mortgage-backed securities guarantee a certain rate of return, which is why investors choose to put money there in precarious times. In the midst of uncertainty, one thing we do know is that rates remain historically low, and now is an excellent time to purchase or refinance your home so that you are able to lock in a desirable rate.
