Every three years, the Federal Reserve conducts a Survey of Consumer Finances in which they collect data across all economic and social groups. The latest survey, which includes data from 2010-2013, reports that a homeowner's net worth is 36 times greater than that of a renter ($194,500 vs. $5,400). In a Forbes article, the National Association of Realtors' (NAR) Chief Economist Lawrence Yun predicts that in 2016 the net worth gap will widen even further to 45 times greater.

Dickson Realty’s August 2016 Newsletter Brexit –What the Heck Is Happening and Does It Affect Me as an American? Brexit short for “British exit” happened on June 23th when British voters quit the European Union. Why should Americans care? What effect has it already had that can help or hurt you personally? Britain is one of the world’s largest economies and one of America’s largest trading partners. Lots of United States companies invest in Britain and so many of our country’s stocks tumbled after the news of the exit. This could continue to have an effect on your portfolio including 401k’s. This is certainly an unpredictable time in Europe, and other countries may be considering exiting as well. The good news initially would be lower mortgage rates. Bonds are an instrument many investors flee to during times of uncertainty as they give a fixed return. Thus many investors moved to Mortgage Backed Bonds for more certainty in their portfolios and rates went down. That downward rate allowed and is allowing many of our clients to refinance at rates that were the lowest in the past three years. Thus they are saving money! That is the positive. So obviously there is always a yin/yang effect and we are sending good thoughts to those negatively affected by this exit. But if you would like to focus on the good, you may be able to lower your mortgage rate or buy a home at a lower rate. I like to focus on the good, so take action and call us for refinancing anywhere in CA or NV. Or if you are thinking of a purchase let’s get you pre-approved. Our team is waiting to hear from you.
