THE RAPHA FESTIVE 500
Day one: the start of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. The first kilometers, the first bike. My almost 30 year old Trek 730 was the bike for day one. This bike survived the rough roads of the Atlas mountains in Morocco and brought me safely through the Chiapas in Mexico. It’s still going strong. I will change the handlebars this year, this one is really ugly... a mistake from the past. 24 dec 2015 | 46,6 km | 107 m
Day two of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. Christmas! A great day for a ride. Today’s bike is my favorite Colnago Bititan. This titanium bike with the double down tube is a great ride. On this day I rode through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug (Utrecht Hill Ridge) in the direction of Arnhem. 25 dec 2015 | 133,9 km | 288 m
Day three of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. A real Dutch bike for a visit to the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. Today’s choice is my Gazelle Champion Mondial Criterium 1997. This is one of the last steel bikes handbuilt by Gazelle. In spite of the wind (6 BFT) I decided to visit the Amsterdam Rapha store. Somehow the wind was against me all day... but I made it. Perhaps the superb coffee and the friendly people at the Rapha store gave me extra power. 26 dec 2015 | 156 km | 164 m
Day four of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. Today I had a social ride with my love. Marieke joined me with her Pinarello Asolo. I took my Master, hand built by the Dutch framebuilder Wim Hommes. Together we made a nice trip. We had a coffee at the Beaufort House near Zeist, to celebrate the stormy weather. 27 dec 2015 | 57,5 km | 110 m
Day five of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. Another Italian bike. Today it’s the Somec Aluminium. This bright yellow monster was my bike of the day, however it was a short ride. After two hours of skating there was not much time left to cycle. I managed to take this picture just before sunset... 29 dec 2015 | 45,2 km | 99 m
Day six of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. Another social ride with my girlfriend today. I took the Colnago Bititan for the second time this Festive 500. We had our third skating day, so there was just an hour and a half left before the darkness of the winter night. 30 dec 2015 | 37,6 km | 78 m
Day seven of the Rapha Festive 500 2015. Back on the first bike to finish this Festive 500! I left before dawn so I could be back in time. We had some more speed skating to do. Ultimately, I cycled 508 km in seven days on five different bikes (and 45 km of skating...). 31 dec 2015 | 31,2 km | 81 m
