Introduction Alpha Kappa Psi’s founding was predicated on the promotion and advancement in institutions of college rank courses leading to degrees in business administration. Since the founding of Alpha Kappa Psi, this object has remained at the core of its educational programming. In 2017, ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership produced the “Drivers of Change: Summaries and Forecasts” as a part of their ASAE ForesightWorks component. There are two Drivers of Change to highlight: Diversity and Inclusion and Microlearning. Diversity and Inclusion SUMMARY: American society and workplaces will continue to grow more diverse and inclusive as values evolve and younger generations increase their share in the demographic mix. This will occur against a backdrop of social, political, and racial polarization—and the workplace will be a primary arena in which contending views collide and issues are worked out. To meet these challenges, inclusion efforts can be treated as a systemic priority, supported by a new generation of tools and processes. Microlearning SUMMARY: Workers will need to continually learn, but many want small, specific bursts of information tied to immediate job demands, available at a time of their choosing. New media forms will enable modules that are small, timely, and focused. Certification will need to change to allow microlearning modules to be assembled in innovative combinations for new forms of certification. In conjunction with the Commonwealth Leadership Alliance, these drivers play a pivotal role in advancing Alpha Kappa Psi’s strategy by assisting members with the development of the key skills employers want and need by offering high-impact activities, events, and training programs. And, our learning and leadership development program in conjunction with in-person events is designed to develop each member’s ability to navigate their career and be a leader in the workplace. These skills are often regarded as critical by employers, managers, and researchers. TM

The following report contains analytical information regarding our events hosted during FY21. Our members, friends, and partners are vital to the success of the organization. We encourage you to read through the report and share your insight with an Alpha Kappa Psi member on your campus, in your company, or in your community. They are the next generation of employees. This is our future. This is our path to success. This is AKPsi Events.

Sincerely,

Jason Pierce, CAE, CMP Director of Education

BROTHERHOOD UNBOUNDED The Alpha Kappa Psi Program for Principled Business Leaders

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many campuses with AKPsi chapters operated in a virtual environment for the duration of the 2020-21 academic year. As an organization, our brothers’ safety, health, and well-being remained the highest priority, so all of Alpha Kappa Psi’s educational offerings were delivered virtually. To promote ongoing connection and education, Alpha Kappa Psi offered several opportunities through its Brotherhood Unbounded program. Brotherhood Unbounded is the program designed to help AKPsi members stay connected to their brothers and their chapter, to help brothers learn how to cope with personal stress, and to help brothers develop skills beneficial in their career development. It is exclusive to AKPsi members, providing the resources to boost confidence, to participate in unique activities and events, and to elevate resumes in regard to three areas of development.

Career

Development

Activities related to career exploration, job/internship process, career preparation and ongoing professional development.

Personal

Skill

Virtual Education Sessions Alpha Kappa Psi hosted virtual keynote presentations throughout the year to provide members ongoing access to industry leaders outside of a specific event. In addition, volunteers in the United Kingdom held a series of virtual sessions known as “The Institute” geared toward our UK members.

During this week, Alpha Kappa Psi provides its members the best of Brotherhood Unbounded, with access to career, personal and skill development opportunities for all levels of experience to enhance their professional development. These events would not have been possible without the generosity and expertise of our speakers, who gave their time and talent to AKPsi to advance our members’ learning. Recordings of all virtual sessions and additional courses on chapter operations, career advancement, and professional development are available in the MyLearning section of the MyAKPsi Community.

Presidents Academy January 9 - 10, 2021 Virtual Presidents Academy (PA) is an educational leadership experience to provide chapter and colony presidents with a concentrated deep dive into serving others, self-awareness, chapter operations, understanding vision, and creating a Chapter Success Plan. Use of the Birkman Method Assessment was continued after strong feedback from the 2020 event to allow attendees the opportunity to learn about their individual leadership style, as well as their usual and stress behaviors. While a virtual experience, the 2021 event was still able to provide attendees the opportunity to learn from their peers, and discuss coaching and leadership concepts through both large and small group conversations.

Through the Presidents Academy, I will forever be able to acknowledge that just because others do not think like me, absolutely does not mean they do not have ideas. Everyone has special skills and ideas that are unique to them, those skills and ideas need to be utilized and not disregarded. Through the Birkman report and the conference, I have a better understanding of how to support each of my brothers, specifically, in the way they need it. - Megan Cox, Missouri State ‘19
