Editorial
are so pleased to meet again through the 10th issue, having more
We confidence and insistence on continuing the publication of «Al Moosa
Mission» to become the most valuable window for health education in the region. To tell the truth, this journalistic health experience wouldn›t have come to light without Allah›s guidance and grace and the follow up of thousands of our dear readers and patients. The Mission has linked to Al-Moosa Gen. Hospital›s in the governmental and private establishments. The praise of this magazine increases the responsibility on our shoulders to carry on and think carefully about how useful what we offer is towards our people and families in Al-Hasa and other regions. The main topic in this issue is no doubt a daring one in the way that many in the medical field try to avoid it, for it is very complicated and thorny. It›s the relationship between doctors and the pharmaceutical companies and the effects on the service offered to the patient. Dr. Hamad Al-Essa writes about this relationship and highlights the transcendent voices out of the civil community establishments and societies which call for limiting this suspicious relation emphasizing the negative effects on the doctors› decisions and prescriptions all over the world. Al-Moosa Gen. Hospital, on the other hand and depending on the belief that being up to date and having an well trained staff will guide to excel, has established a specialized department in education and training believing in the importance of education and on-going training in the medical field and health education. What is wonderful about this department is that it won›t serve the continuous medical education for the hospital and health sector›s employees in the region only, but it will extend to offer experiences in health education for the patients and families and taking part in the health activities in different social sectors around the year. The first event or activity the department organized was the advanced course on dealing with trauma and accidents targeting more than 50 specialized doctors and nurses from the Emergency Department. This course was supervised by specialized instructors in the above mentioned field from Upstate Medical University – New York, and it focused on enhancing and improving the health practitioners› skills and capabilities in such critical situations. Worth mentioning is that Al-Moosa Gen. Hospital will organize “The Updates in cardiac CT angiography Conference» very soon which is going to take place in the province for the first time. There is a number of international speakers specialized in the field of radiology and cardiac imaging . Meanwhile, Al-Moosa Gen. Hospital is taking part in the organization of «The King of Organs 2012» conference in collaboration with Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Al-Hasa. This conference is considered the most important, valuable and unique heart conference in the kingdom, for it deals with the heart from a completely different viewpoint from other conferences. This conference deals with the heart as a decision maker and its relationship with other universes and galaxies. What makes this conference so special is the number of the prominent and international scientists in this field who are going to attend. Last but not least, I wish you all an interesting and useful reading and I›d like to express the Mission Editorial Board happiness and honor for your continuous communication. Please don›t hesitate to contact us regarding any notes, feedback or comments on the Magazine e-mail. Happy Eid and May Allah accept your Hajj Malek Abdulaziz Al-Moosa Executive Manager

manager, announces that the patient can get the advantages of this service through the prior registration at the social worker of the hospital to have the address and the convenient time to deliver the medicine, so we make sure that the medicine is delivered to the patient at the pre-defined time. This service will, in fact, make it easy to the patient and the people with special needs having difficulty moving to and from the hospital.
from Department Obstetrics & Gynecology and Department of Pediatrics in Al-Moosa General Hospital Al Hasa has succeeded in helping a Saudi young woman in her thirties to give birth to healthy quadruplets (four twins) which is considered as an unprecedented event in Al Hasa Region. The young mother was seeing the gynecologist regularly in Al Moosa Gen. Hospital before giving birth to her quadruplets. After the diagnosis and tests, the gynecologist found out that she has four twins in her womb. As a result and immediately, a medical team has been formed from Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Department of Pediatrics to follow up the very rare case which only takes place once among every 41 million cases completing their pregnancy and giving birth to quadruplets according to the international statistics. Dr. Median Almoamo, Consultant obstetrics, gynecology and fertility says,Âť Usually, this kind of rare cases shows up after a long period of infertility;

However, our case is a healthy young woman who never suffered from any signs of infertility nor did she have any kind of ovulation or fertility drugs. Meanwhile Dr. Sami Subaih, Pediatric Consultant and Department Head, points out that the department has put the quadruplets under continuous supervision and follow-up in the Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Subaih assures that they all have very good health and they will be observed in the Nursery department to complete their medical care. It`s worth mentioning that following up such rare cases and supervising this kind of delivery along with minute by minute follow-up to the babies› health can only be performed in very advanced medical centers which absolutely contain international and professional medical experiences, the latest equipment and devices required for such cases. The simple reason for that is these medical centers must have the special medical protocols on how to deal with any sudden symptom or change which may take place to the mother or the babies.

Drinking Too Much Tea May Help in Forming Kidney Stones
Climbing the Stairs: The easiest and most effective physical fitness exercises
Drinking too much black or green tea may help in forming special kind of kidney stones. The Head of the German Society of Internal Medicine (Internists), Dr. Vulfghang Vezyak, attributes this problem to the oxalic acid the tea contains which causes the formation of kidney stones assuring that ice tea contains the same danger.
this kind of danger doesn›t require so much effort as mentioned by Dr. Vulfghang as he advises everybody not to drink too much of any kind of tea instead he/she can substitute it with water and lemon juice, for the citric acid in the lemon juice has a preventive effect against forming kidney stones. The German internist points out that avoiding foods containing oxalic acid contributes to decrease the danger of kidney stones formation. These kinds of food include spinach, chocolate, nuts and others. Instead, Dr. Vezyak recommends people to have foods rich with calcium such as milk, curd, yogurt, cheese and potatoes as the calcium in these foods works on decreasing the absorption of oxalic acid in the stomach, and consequently, prevent kidney stones formation.
Climbing the stairs is considered the easiest and most effective physical fitness exercise during your daily life. Zabina Kind from the German University of Prevention and Health Management in Zarbrukin city explains that climbing the stairs works on improving the body›s endurance capability and it helps in losing weight on the long run if it is practiced regularly.

German expert points out the benefits by saying,» climbing 400 steps of stairs daily are equal to running for 15 minutes continuously.» She also clarifies that climbing the stairs helps in training the breathing process for the human being, the cardiovascular system and the muscles of the thighs, hips and calf muscles in addition to the improvement of the metabolism in the body. The other positive effect of climbing the stairs on the human›s health in general is that it increases the human›s ability to exert more effort and minimizes the size of the waist. It also helps in decreasing high blood pressure and LDL cholesterol in the body.
The Vezyak, on the other hand, recommends not to eat a lot of salt or fats as gaining weight is one of the reasons beyond the process of kidney stones formation whereas the German internist points out that the body›s lack of liquids is one of the reasons causing kidney stones. He also focuses on the issue of age as the danger of having this problem for men older than 40 years to the women of the same age is 4 to 1. However, this danger increases for women when they come to the menopause period because of the low secretion of estrogen hormone.
Dr.
The German expert adds,» What good about climbing stairs is that this kind of physical exercise doesn`t cost anything and doesn›t require
any equipment or even going to the gym, for you can do it almost anywhere whether on your way to work, in work or even at shopping.» Regarding the mechanism of training, Kind says,» It›s better to start climbing slowly during the first floor then you can increase your speed bit by bit in the coming floors. Meanwhile, you can climb two stairs at once by alternating the use of your foot and sole of the foot.» The German expert recommends the 10 to 20-step stairs to start with as she thinks it would be very convenient at the beginning. She also recommends the exchange of the walking and running speed during the climb in addition to the movement of the arms. She finally recommends climbers to climb in a professional and scientific way to avoid any complications such as sliding on the stairs.
