Ricci Nostra, the Argentine indie musician adopted by Barcelona, recently released “Fugaces,” the first single from his second studio album, La maldición del amarre, set to be released on June 18 through Party Town Records/Hidden Track.

“Fugaces” is a kick of carefree rebellion against all things establishment, and encourages listeners to explore and reflect on the new normal of the world. Above all, it pushes us to take risks, laugh, cry, kiss, dance, sing, love and fly, because that’s what life is all about.
“Fugaces” is rock because it is rebellion with substance.
“Rock in the global scene right now is something complex to define,” said Nostra. “Undoubtedly, you have to think about it from where you are standing. It is not the same to ask yourself this question when you are English and living in London than when you are Latin American and living in Europe.”
The song, like his whole album, was recorded and produced at La Masia Music Lab studio by Josep Vilagut and Scarlett, mixed by Daniel Pernas, and mastered by Yvess Rousell.
If that wasn’t enough, it features the unique bass of Miquel Sospedra and the unmistakable drums of Xavi Molero.
The second single from the album released the previous week is “Sóltemonos.”
In a key of fresh and friendly indiepop, Nostra raises a paradigm shift in the bonds of love, starting with oneself and breaking from romantic love.

El músico indie argentino afincado en Barcelona Ricci Nostra presenta “Fugaces”, el primer single de su segundo álbum de estudio, titulado La maldición del amarre, que verá la luz el 18 de junio de la mano del sello Party Town Records/Hidden Track. “Fugaces” es un golpe de rebeldía desenfadada ante todo lo establecido, que nos incita a explorar y reflexionar ante la recién llegada nueva normalidad. Pero, sobretodo, nos empuja a arriesgar, reír, llorar, besar, bailar, cantar, amar y volar, porque de eso va la vida. “Fugaces” es rock porque es rebeldía con fundamento.
“El rock en el escenario global ahora mismo es algo complejo de definir. Sin dudas, hay que pensarlo desde donde está uno parado. No es lo mismo hacerse esta pregunta siendo inglés y viviendo en Londres que siendo latinoamericano y viviendo en Europa. El rock ahora mismo es lo que inicialmente fue: ir a contradirección de la masa. Tal vez puede ser más soft en su sonido pero más interesante en su lírica”.
La canción, como todo el disco, ha sido grabada y producida en el estudio La Masia Music Lab por Josep Vilagut y Scarlett, mezclada por Daniel Pernas y masterizada por Yvess Rousell. Y, por si fuera poco, cuenta con los bajos únicos de Miquel Sospedra y las baterías inconfundibles de Xavi Molero.
El segundo adelanto de su álbum, publicado la semana anterior, es “Sóltemonos” donde en clave de un indiepop fresco y amable, el autor plantea un cambio de paradigma. Fundamentalmente los vínculos del amor, comenzando por el propio, y rompiendo con el amor romántico.

Following precepts of Erich Fromm or Julio Cortázar, Ricci advocates loving not because the other represents an incomplete part of oneself, but for being the other.
“I get my inspiration from the street. Meeting people, listening to them [whoever they are], learning from them. Everyone has interesting things to say and to recommend. I get inspiration from other musicians,” said Nostra. “I also get inspiration from my inner world. I tend to live very much on the inside and when I’m there I allow myself to understand the journey, I listen to myself a lot.”
NOSTRA’S HISTORY
Ricci didn’t embark on his own musical dream until after the death of his father and his move to Barcelona.
“As a child I was very shy to confess my love for music but I remember as if it were today seeing someone playing or singing and dreaming of being that someone. I imagined myself there,” said Nostra. “I would lock myself in my room to sing. I also remember standing for hours in front of the music store looking at the instruments and wondering how I could get one. Deep down I have to confess that I did imagine myself making songs like that.”
He released his first studio LP titled Jinete de Conejos in 2018. It’s a completely introspective and melancholic lyric album.
Now, Nostra is preparing to give the world a new album, La Maldición del Amarre. It’s a work with a fresh and different sound than expected — full of synthesizers and electric guitars.
It’s all indie rock with nods to pop.
Asked about its creation, Nostra said it was difficult to describe.
“It took time. Time to live experiences, to learn, to cry, to fall, to be so deep in the worst of the worst that only a temptation of laughter saves you, time to love and unlove,” he said. “No doubt it takes time to mature all that inside to slowly sew it into lyrics and melodies. I see my growth between albums and the truth makes me want to love myself.” z amar no porque el otro represente una parte incompleta de uno mismo, sino precisamente por ser el otro.
“La inspiración me la da la calle. Conocer gente, escucharla (sea quien sea), aprender de ellas y ellos, todas las personas tienen cosas interesantes que decir y recomendar. Me inspiran otros músicos. También me inspiro en mi mundo interior. Suelo vivir muy hacia dentro y cuando estoy allí me permito entender el viaje que he hecho, me escucho bastante a mí mismo”.
LA HISTORIA DE NOSTRA
Ricci Nostra empezó como banda hasta terminar convirtiéndose en 2015 en el alter ego de Santiago Cayrol. Ricci no se animó a lanzarse con su sueño musical hasta después de la muerte de su padre y su emigración a Barcelona: “De niño me daba mucha vergüenza confesar mi amor por la música pero me acuerdo como si fuera hoy el ver a alguien tocar o cantar y soñar con ser ese alguien. Me imaginaba ahí y luego me encerraba en mi cuarto a cantar. También recuerdo quedarme horas frente a la tienda de música, viendo los instrumentos y divagando sobre qué podía hacer para obtener uno. En el fondo he de confesar que sí me imaginaba haciendo canciones”.
Su primer LP de estudio, titulado “Jinete de Conejos” (2018) fue un disco completamente introspectivo y de letras melancólicas. Ahora Ricci Nostra se prepara para mostrar al mundo un nuevo disco titulado La Maldición del Amarre. Un trabajo con una sonoridad totalmente fresca y distinta a la esperada, repleto de sintetizadores y guitarras eléctricas, un álbum completamente indie rock con guiños al pop.
Preguntado sobre la preparación del disco, responde: “Sería difícil para mí explicar la preparación previa al disco. Siento que el disco, como expresión artística, ha nacido cuando tenía que hacerlo. Se necesita tiempo. Tiempo para vivir experiencias, aprendizajes, llantos, caídas, estar tan hundido en lo peor de lo peor que solo una tentación de reír te salve, tiempo para amar y desamar. Sin duda se necesita tiempo (y tal vez algunos necesitamos más que otros) para madurar todo eso dentro hasta coserlo lentamente en letras y melodías. Veo mi crecimiento entre discos y la verdad me dan ganas de quererme”. z
