o se trata de una comparación muy habitual, pero es importante. En una entrevista con AL DÍA News, Ab Lechter, del Comité Judío-Americano (AJC) y Jénnifer Rodríguez, presidenta y CEO de la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de la Región de Filadelfia (GPHCC), hablaron de las similitudes entre el pueblo latino y judío. Ambos llegaron a los Estados Unidos como inmigrantes. Ambos han sido discriminados y han sido etiquetados con estereotipos falsos. Ambos comparten valores como el amor por la familia, el trabajo duro y la educación como el camino para lograr la prosperidad. Y ambos pueblos son conocidos por su espíritu emprendedor. En reconocimiento de esta interseccionalidad, la Coalición Latino-Judía de AJC Philadelphia, en asociación con la GPHCC, organizó en la mañana del 15 de mayo una Cumbre Latino-Judía de Emprendedores en la Fox School of Business, de la Universidad de Temple. “Nos sentimos muy, muy bien por haber logrado un grupo increíble de conferencistas, que darán una presentación realmente distinta al público”, explicó Lechter, nacido en Colombia, de padre judío y madre latina, durante la entrevista con AL DÍA, antes de que empezase el evento. Rodríguez agregó que el número de latinos que empiezan negocios es tres veces superior al promedio nacional (y Filadelfia no es una exREAD IN cepción), pero solo entre ENGLISH el 2 y el 3 por ciento de NEWS.com/OPINION los negocios de latinos alcanzan o superan la facturación de 1 millón de dólares anuales. “Es importante para la Cámara Hispana mostrar que hay emprendedores (latinos) increíblemente exitosos”, dijo Rodríguez a AL DÍA, refiriéndose a los oradores que participaron en la cumbre. “No siempre tenemos la ocasión de mostrarlos en eventos de este nivel. El tema de la cumbra era: “Los retos de hacer crecer un negocio”. Los cuatro emprendedores dieron presentaciones individuales al estilo “TED Talks” ante las aproximadamente 80 personas reunidas en el evento, para el que se agotaron las entradas, y luego participaron en una mesa redonda moderada por Ellen Weber, directora ejecutiva del Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute de Fox School of Business. . Trujillo, que creció en Colombia, ofreció este consejo: “Es bueno tener un plan, pero hay que ser muy flexible”, y la persistencia es clave. “Cuando se trata de emprender, hay que tener una pasión. Ama lo que haces y, de verdad, nunca te rindas”, dijo Trujillo, y agregó que uno nunca debe tener miedo a fracasar. “El fracaso es un proceso de aprendizaje”, comentó. Marquis dijo que es importante recordar que los emprendedores “no pueden hacerlo todo solos” y que está bien depender de los demás para obtener ayuda, sean socios, inversores o empleados. Partiendo de su experiencia, también cree que es vital tener una misión bien definida, como el compromiso de su compañía con la preservación del medioambiente a partir de alimentos a base de plantas. “Tengo un equipo que trabaja incansablemente durante todo el día para lograr esa visión más amplia”, dijo Marquis. “Creo que la gente trabaja más duro cuando hay una misión que es más grande que ellos mismos. Es cuando realmente pueden comprometerse con algo”.

López, nacido en Puerto Rico, hizo hincapié en que los empresarios deben tener en cuenta las formas de conseguir que sus negocios sean atractivos para potenciales compradores. “Si construyes un negocio interesante adquirir, significa que has construido un buen negocio”, dijo López. “Si planeas venderlo o no, es indiferente”. Kimmel enfatizó que para ser un emprendedor exitoso, “uno necesita hacer networking todos los días” y “hacer tantos contactos como sea posible”, convirtiendo esos contactos en relaciones. Como capitalista de riesgo, Kimmel dijo que para su compañía es importante invertir en startups tecnológicas dirigidas por el “tipo de personas adecuadas”. “Queremos asegurarnos de todos aquellos con quienes trabajamos son inteligentes, amables y tienen una gran visión”, dijo Kimmel. Al margen del panel, el juez Nelson Díaz pronunció las palabras de apertura y Alan Weisleder, oriundo de Costa Rica y socio de OurCrowd, firma de capital de riesgo con sede en Jerusalén, pronunció el discurso principal. La Coalición Latino-Judía de AJC Philadelphia fue fundada en 2013. Hablando con AL DÍA, la Directora Regional de AJC Philadelphia Marcia Bronstein explicó cuál es propósito de la organización: “Nuestra misión es usar relaciones de colaboración y ampliar las interacciones en asuntos que son importantes para nuestras dos comunidades”, dijo Bronstein, mencionando como intersecciones clave las reformas migratorias, el empoderamiento económico, el compromiso cívico, la política exterior, las relaciones entre la patria y la diáspora, y la filantropía. ■

Un gobierno bilingüe ¿QUÉ SON LAS CIENCIAS DE LA SALUD Y POR QUÉ DEBERÍAN IMPORTARLE?

n Filadelfia viven cerca de 1.600.000 personas, 41.3 por ciento son de raza blanca, 42.9 por ciento son afrodescendientes y 6.9 son asiáticos. Entre las razas hay un sinfín de nacionalidades, orígenes étnicos y, sobre todo, idiomas. Muchos idiomas. Además del inglés, se hablan por lo menos otros cincuenta dialectos. De hecho, si no fuera por el idioma oficial de Estados Unidos, la ciudad sería una especie de babilonia caída en desgracia en la que todos andaríamos por ahí, más confundidos que Adán el día de la madre. Ser la ciudad del amor fraternal y santuario de inmigrantes debe tener un efecto más que nominal. En la práctica, el gobierno local ha ido adoptando medidas para mejorar su conocimiento de las diferentes comunidades que cohabitan la ciudad y así ofrecer programas y servicios que tengan en cuenta sus particularidades, entre ellas sus idiomas. Un documento dado a conocer recientemente por la Oficina de Recursos Humanos de la alcaldía da cuenta de ello. Según el Reporte sobre el Reclutamiento de Personal Bilingüe en el Servicio Civil –“el primero de su estilo presentado a la Comisión de Servicio Civil”– el personal bilingüe contratado en cargos
directivos de los diferentes departamentos del sector público de Filadelfia llega a los 1.149 profesionales. Entre los segundos idiomas más comunes que hablan los funcionarios públicos están el español (con 591 hablantes), el chino (con 53 hablantes), el ruso (con 22 hablantes) y el vietnamita (con 15 hablantes). De acuerdo con el documento, las tres áreas del sector público que más personal bilingüe emplean en cargos directivos son las de seguridad, servicios humanos y salud. El Departamento de Policía lidera con 560 miembros a nivel ejecutivo que hablan un segundo idioma (411 español), seguido por el Departamento de Salud con 142 profesionales en cargos de dirección (21 hablan español), y el Departamento de Servicios Humanos, con 87. Los departamentos de impuestos, el aeropuerto y los bomberos son las entidades que siguen en la lista con mayor número de personal bilingüe. El Reporte sobre el Reclutamiento de Personal Bilingüe en el Servicio Civil también resalta que esa entidad es quizás una de las más accesibles del gobierno local con 10 idiomas hablados en la oficina –incluido el inglés–. El reporte se da un par de años después de que el alcalde Jim Kenney firmó la orden ejecutiva 7-16 en la que ordenó la creación y puesta en marcha de un plan de acceso lingüístico con el fin de cerrar brindar mejores servicios públicos a todos los filadelfianos, incluidos aquellos que no hablan inglés. ■
LA CRECIENTE POPULARIDAD DE QUERER LLEVAR UNA VIDA SANA, ASÍ COMO EL AUMENTO GENERAL DE LA POBLACIÓN MAYOR DE 65 AÑOS, SON DOS FACTORES QUE EXPLICAN EL BOOM DE LAS LLAMADAS CIENCIAS DE LA SALUD. PERO, ¿EN QUÉ CONSISTEN EXACTAMENTE? La Asociación de Escuelas de Profesionales de las Ciencias de la Salud (Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions) engloba en el concepto “Ciencias de la Salud” a un amplio grupo de profesionales de la salud que diagnostican, evalúan y tratan enfermedades graves y crónicas; promueven la prevención de enfermedades y el bienestar para optimizar la salud; y aplican habilidades de administración y gestión para dar apoyo al sistema sanitario. Hablando más claro, los profesionales afines a la salud son todos aquellos profesionales que ofrecen servicios sanitarios excepto médicos, doctores y enfermeros. Se trata de un sector con amplias oportunidades de empleo, y se espera que crezca rápido.
Ejemplos de carreras en Ciencias de la Salud
Las profesiones afines al sector salud engloban desde asistencia personal a médicos a trabajos de oficina, como administrar informes o equipos médicos. Aquí tiene una lista de posibles carreras en ciencias de la salud: • Entrenador deportivo • Higienista dental • Dietista/nutricionista • Psicólogo de ejercicio • Asistente médico • Transcriptor médico • Terapeutas ocupacionales • Técnicos de farmacia • Auxiliar médico • Asesor de rehabilitación • Técnico de ecografías • Logopeda El Instituto Americano de Educación y Ciencias de la Medicina publicó recientemente una lista de los
empleos mejor pagados en el sector de las Ciencias de la Salud en 2017, y entre ellos figuraban técnicos de farmacia, auxiliares médicos, técnicos de informes médicos e información sanitaria, y dietistas y nutricionistas (para nombrar algunos).
El sector de empleo que más crece en los Estados Unidos
Los trabajos afines a las Ciencias de la Salud no solo son bien remunerados, sino que también se espera que los salarios en el sector crezcan a uno de los niveles más altos de todo el país, según la Oficina de Estadísticas Laborales. Las proyecciones estiman un crecimiento anual de los salarios del 1.9 por ciento en los próximos años, y las profesiones afines a la salud serán las que liderarán este crecimiento en EE.UU., superando a otros sectores. Los requisitos educacionales para los empleos en Ciencias de la Salud varían según el tipo de profesión, pero la Oficina de Estadísticas Laborales ha elaborado un Manual de Ocupaciones para ayudarle. El documento detalla los requisitos mínimos de educación para cada caso, así como la media salarial para cada profesión. na guerra civil ha despertado en las filas del Partido Demócrata en la antesala a unas elecciones de mitad de período que podrían definir el futuro del país entero. Después de la derrota en las presidenciales del 2016 – y ante un improbable y controversial candidato – el voto popular ha virado hacia una opción más liberal en varias de las elecciones primarias más importantes. Según reportó ABC News, esto es “un síntoma de que la izquierda está liderando gran parte del entusiasmo de los demócratas, y podría ganar el tira-y-afloja con los moderados sobre la dirección del partido”. Y es que las elecciones primarias del pasado martes demostraron el estado de la opinión pública, que parece estar cansada de los mecanismos tradicionales del partido azul, en especial por su incapacidad de poner READ IN un freno a las políticas de ENGLISH la administración Trump. Eastman –así como la gran mayoría de los liberales vencedores en la jornada– apoyó la verificación universal de antecedentes para comprar armas, el aumento de los impuestos y la descriminalización de la marihuana. En Lehigh Valley (Pennsylvania), la abogada Susan Wild venció al candidato típico, el demócrata y conservador John Morganelli, quien durante su campaña se opuso a los derechos al aborto, a las ciudades santuario y quien ha coqueteado abiertamente con la opción de sumarse a la Administración Trump.

verdadero Demócrata, que represente sus valores”, dijo Eastman a The Associated Press. “Durante años hemos apoyado a Demócratas conservadores y les hemos visto perder”. Los resultados de estas primeras elecciones “reflejan un cambio en ideas que fueron consideradas por mucho tiempo como muy liberales para atraer al (votante) del medio”, continúa ABC. De la misma manera, el voto Demócrata ha aumentado de manera considerable en estados como Idaho, donde aumentaron de 25.000 durante las primarias del 2014 a 64.000 este año, según explicó el Post, y la cantidad de mujeres vencedoras en las primeras contiendas es también considerable. La guerra de Trump a los refugiados daña la economía
N
o se deje engañar, la guerra despiadada de Donald Trump contra los inmigrantes no se limita a los indocumentados, como afirma en un intento fallido de justificar su crueldad e intolerancia. Él y sus secuaces también persiguen a miles de personas que buscan asilo en los EE. UU. tras haber logrado huir de la violencia de regímenes asesinos y bandas de narcotraficantes que a menudo han sido respaldados, creados o tolerados por los EE. UU. Un nuevo y revelador informe recién publicado por el Instituto de Política Fiscal (FPI) en asociación con Tent Foundation deja en claro que la guerra racista de Trump contra los inmigrantes –específicamente los refugiados en este caso– también daña la economía. La administración Trump, con una furia xenófoba, ha reducido tanto el número de refugiados admitidos en los EE. UU. que resultaría risible si no fuera porque afecta peligrosamente la supervivencia de cientos de miles de personas en todo el mundo. Este año, a pesar de la supuesta preocupación de Washington por el sufrimiento del pueblo sirio, Estados Unidos ha admitido un total de 11, sí, once, refugiados de Siria. Una hipocresía repugnante. ¿Pero qué se puede esperar cuando el presidente del país llama cruelmente “animales” a personas desesperadas que huyen de sus países para salvar sus vidas y buscar refugio en los Estados Unidos, el autoproclamado campeón de los derechos humanos? “Tenemos gente entrando al país o tratando de entrar, estamos deteniendo a muchos de ellos”, dijo Trump. “No creerían lo malas que son estas personas. Estas no son personas, estos son animales, y los estamos sacando del país a un nivel y en un ritmo que nunca antes había sucedido”. Dejémonos de medias tintas: estas son palabras cargadas de puro odio. Como escribió la columnista del Miami Herald, Fabiola Santiago: “Estamos hablando de mujeres y niños con los rostros rotos y sufrientes de personas que huyen de terribles circunstancias inimaginables para la ma-
yoría de los estadounidenses. Estamos hablando de hombres cuyo crimen es luchar para dar a sus familias una vida mejor. ‘Animales’ y ‘no personas’. No hay excusa para ese lenguaje”. El informe del FPI, “Refugiados como empleados”, publicado esta semana, deja en claro lo absurdo de decidir qué tipo de medidas de inmigración deberían implementarse guiándose por el fanatismo y la ignorancia. obrevivir a un tiroteo en una escuela no debería ser el punto de inflexión en la vida de ningún niño o adolescente, pero en Estados Unidos parece que el dinero y la política pueden más que la seguridad y la vida de sus ciudadanos. Según una amplia investigación llevada a cabo por el Gun Violence Archive, en los últimos años la Segunda Enmienda ha permitido más de 60.000 muertes en tiroteos masivos, pero esta realidad no presenta síntomas de cambio, ni en la legislación ni en la perspectiva de los dirigentes políticos. Tuvo que ser la voz de una joven que sobrevivió a la masacre del pasado 14 de febrero en la escuela Marjory Stoneman Douglas de Parkland, Florida la que impulsó un movimiento que dice “Ya Basta” y que hará responsables a la mayoría republicana y a la Administración Trump de esta crisis social, anticipando lo que se percibe como una revolución social. “Cada una de las personas que estamos aquí deberían estar en su casa, viviendo el luto. Pero en vez de eso, estamos todos aquí juntos porque nuestro gobierno y nuestro presidente sólo envían ‘pensamientos y plegarias’”, dijo Emma

La mañana de ese miércoles 14 de febrero, Emma se encontraba repartiendo modelos de cartas de amor junto a su colectivo Gay-Straight Alliance –un grupo pro-LGBT+ de su escuela– para “difundir el amor” durante la hora del almuerzo. “Entregábamos cartas gratuitas del Día de San Valentín”, explicó González a David Remnick en su
entrevista para la New Yorker Radio Hour. Después de tres horas bajo el sol, Emma y sus compañeros se dirigieron al auditorio para continuar sus clases. “Mi profesor imprimió una lista de asistencia, algo que no suele hacer, para evitar que saliéramos de clase. De hecho, una amiga y yo pensábamos salirnos e ir a visitar a nuestra profesora favorita en el tercer piso del edificio de los de primer año, una de las clases que más sufrió (durante el tiroteo)”, comentó. “Si mi profesor no hubiese impreso esa lista, nosotras hubiéramos estado allí”. A las 2:19 de la tarde, Nikolás Cruz, entraba al edificio 12 de la escuela con una AR-15 y le decía a su compañero Chris McKenna: “Mejor te sales de aquí; las cosas van a empezar a complicarse”, justo antes de empezar a abrir fuego. La escuela entró en “Código Rojo”, el protocolo que suele implementarse durante tiroteos en escenarios escolares; 14 estudiantes y tres adultos perdieron la vida.

Según un análisis de CNN, “los estadounidenses poseen más armas per cápita que ningún otro país”, llegando a las 89 armas por cada 100 personas. Asimismo, Estados Unidos representa menos del 5% de la población mundial pero es escenario del 31 por ciento de los tiroteos masivos a nivel global. Tan sólo la semana pasada 10 personas perdieron la vida cuando el joven de 17 años, Dimitrios Pagourtzis, abrió fuego en la escuela secundaria Santa Fe en Texas, siendo el último ataque por arma de fuego en Estados Unidos en lo que va de 2018. Tanto Emma como sus compañeros de clase han decidido tomar el asunto en sus propias manos organizando un movimiento nacional bajo el eslogan #NeverAgain (“Nunca Más”). Un movimiento que han logrado llevar directamente a la sede del gobierno en Tallahassee y con el que llenaron las calles del país en una marcha multitudinaria, demandando acciones –y no plegarias– contra el libre acceso a las armas. Una semana después de la tragedia, los jóvenes se sentaron a hablar con sus representantes legales, organizaron a su comunidad y a
grupos locales en otros estados y movilizaron la consciencia de toda una nación que se sumó ese 24 de marzo al #MarchForOurLives. Aún más, estos jóvenes han advertido del poder que tendrán cuando cumplan 18 años y puedan votar. De momento, lograron que un presidente tan pertinaz como Donald Trump considerase algunas medidas en cuanto al porte de armas.

Los líderes sociales nacen y se hacen. En el caso de Emma, la realidad no es muy distinta. “Me gusta creer que sí (he sido políticamente consciente desde pequeña), en especial después de las últimas elecciones”, respondió González a Remnick ante la pregunta del origen de sus posturas políticas. “Siempre fui consciente de la manera en la que el mundo funciona, porque en noveno grado fue cuando salí del clóset, y estaba muy al tanto de todas las cosas que podían salir mal para alguien que forma parte de la comunidad LGBT+”. s usted un trabajador freelance y tiende a quedarse en casa trabajando en pijama? ¿Un emprendedor digital aburrido de trabajar siempre en la misma cafetería o de ver las mismas caras en su coworking? Conscientes de que esto era un problema cada vez más común entre emprendedores y freelancers de todo el mundo, incluidos ellos mismos, cuatro emprendedores de Nueva York decidieron crear “Croissant”, una plataforma online que ofrece a los usuarios la posibilidad de elegir entre diferentes espacios de coworking en su ciudad, incluida Filadelfia, sin tener que pagar una tarifa fija mensual. Una especie de “Airbnb” de los espacios de trabajo. “Hace unos años mis amigos y yo empezamos a trabajar juntos en una idea de startup. Solíamos reunirnos en cafeterías de Nueva York, pero nos dimos cuenta de que encontrar sitio para cuatro personas al azar en un Starbucks del barrio era muy difícil”, explica Nisha Garigarn, cofundadora de Croissant, recordando cómo empezó la idea de negocio. “Entonces empezamos a buscar un espacio de coworking, pero la idea de pagar cientos de dólares por persona no tenía mucho sentido. Buscábamos una forma
flexible de reunirnos dos veces a la semana. Y esta opción, al parecer, no existía, así que creamos Croissant”, dice. El nombre Croissant, de hecho, es un recordatorio de esos días en que los cuatro emprendedores se veían “obligados” a consumir un montón de croissants y pasteles para no sentirse culpables por quedarse todo el día en la misma mesa de una cafetería. La idea resultó ser un éxito y hoy Croissant está presente en 15 ciudades de Estados Unidos y Europa. En lugares tan lejanos como Barcelona o San Francisco, los emprendedores pueden reservar un lugar de trabajo por un día desde la app en su celular. En Filadelfia, Croissant es aún bastante nueva, pero están en fase de expansión. “Tenemos ya cinco espacios de coworking colaboradores en Philly… ¡y vamos creciendo!, asegura Garigarn. Entre ellos está, por ejemplo, The Yard, una cadena de boutiques que acaba de abrir su primer local en Filadelfia. Otro de los espacios que ofrece la app en nuestra ciudad es City CoHo, un espacio de coworking enfocado a startups que trabajan con temas de sostenibilidad e impacto social, en el número 2401 de Walnut St. “Estamos muy emocionados de trabajar en una ciudad con un historial de innovación tan importante como Filadelfia”, dice Garigarn, que recientemente visitó la ciudad para participar en la Philly Tech Week, un acontecimiento de referencia para startups tecnológicas locales. La posibilidad de trabajar desde casa, de cambiar los horarios si tienes que ir al médico… Creemos que lo de tener que ir a trabajar a un cubículo de 9 a 5 todos los días de la semana tiene los días contados” dice Garigarn. Porque, “¿Qué ocurre si cuando usted trabaja mejor es de madrugada? ¿Se supone que tiene que alargar su jornada laboral para trabajar peor durante los horarios de oficina?”, añade. El éxito de una startup o de un proyecto, de acuerdo con Garigarn, tiene mucho que ver con el hecho que cada uno pueda elegir un ambiente laboral en función de su estado de ánimo o de donde crea que está más inspirado y es más productivo. “Cuando los millennials empiezan a trabajar como freelancers, es importante que mantengan el foco, aprendan y crezcan”, dice Garigarn. “Es importante que busquen espacios asequibles a sus bolsillos, que les permitan hacer contactos con otros emprendedores, freelancers e inversores que estén en su misma situación. Trabajar junto a otra gente entusiasmada con sus proyectos es muy inspirador”, concluye. ■

LA HORA DE COLOMBIA Tras una excelente Copa del Mundo en Brasil 2014, la selección cafetera buscará situarse en Rusia 2018 entre los mejores equipos del planeta.

o cabe duda de que Colombia disfrutó hace cuatro años de la mejor Copa del Mundo de su historia. Los sudamericanos brillaron enormemente en una primera fase en la que arrollaron en su grupo llevándose los nueve puntos. Al son del salsa choke bailaron a griegos, marfileños y japoneses, anotando nueve goles y encajando solo dos. Después, en un memorable partido de octavos de final, Colombia se deshizo con facilidad de Uruguay (2-0) con dos tantos de James Rodríguez, uno de los cuales, designado el mejor de todo el torneo, quedó grabado en nuestras retinas para siempre. El cruce de cuartos fue caprichoso para los cafeteros. Brasil ni mucho menos se encontraba en su mejor momento, pero tenerlo como rival en su propia casa siempre
Los Nuestros es incómodo y, a manos del anfitrión (2-1), murió el sueño de una selección que dibujó durante varios instantes el mejor fútbol de todo el campeonato. De cualquier manera, los jugadores fueron recibidos como héroes en su vuelta a casa por un país embriagado por el regusto de esperanza que no ha mellado después de cuatro años de larga pausa. Y no es para menos, aquel equipo no solo vuelve con sus estrellas intactas, sino que podrá contar de nuevo con uno de sus bastiones, el goleador Radamel Falcao, que se perdió la última Copa del Mundo, lesionado del ligamento cruzado de la rodilla. Como de costumbre, el camino hacia la gran cita mundialista no fue fácil para los hombres del argentino José Pékerman, quienes tuvieron que esperar hasta la última jornada para certificar su presencia en Rusia 2018, dentro del siempre complicado grupo eliminatorio sudamericano. Tras caer en casa frente a Paraguay (2-1) en el penúltimo encuentro, Colombia tuvo que esperar hasta el último suspiro para

De cualquier forma, hemos aprendido con el tiempo que no importa cómo se llegue a una Copa del Mundo. Lo importante es estar allí, porque en un torneo de esta envergadura todos empiezan en igualdad de circunstancias. La suerte no ha sido esquiva a la selección sudamericana. Los cafeteros han quedado encuadrados en el Grupo H junto a Polonia, que no ha clasificado a la segunda ronda desde 1986, Senegal y nuevamente Japón, un país que se encuentra en horas muy bajas. El pronóstico no puede ser mejor para la selección de Colombia. Posteriormente, el trayecto no será fácil. Pero un grupo que cuenta con futbolistas veteranos, consagrados en el soccer europeo como el propio Falcao, James, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado o Carlos Bacca y que tiene también a astros emergentes, Luis Muriel o Yerry Mina, por los que han apostado grandes clubes españoles, como el Sevilla y el FC Barcelona, respectivamente, no puede ser tomado a la ligera. Sin lugar a dudas, Colombia tiene que ser contado entre los candidatos para dar la sorpresa en Rusia 2018. ■

stá claro que en estos cuatro años en el fútbol europeo, especialmente en la actual temporada en el Bayern Munich, James ha demostrado ser un excelente jugador. El colombiano no cabía en el centro del campo del Real Madrid y acertó aceptando la cesión al gigante bávaro, con quien ha ganado la Liga y la Copa de Alemania. Sin embargo, en ningún sitio el astro se encuentra tan cómodo como en su propia selección nacional. El genial centrocampista cafetero es claramente el director de orquesta en uno de los equipos que interpreta la música más alegre de todos los que jugarán la Copa del Mundo. James, además, tiene una capacidad goleadora asombrosa entrando desde segunda línea, prueba de ello fue el trofeo de máximo realizador que consiguió en Brasil 2014, marcando seis tantos en solo cinco partidos. Un buen final de temporada en Europa nos ha mostrado que la estrella colombiana se encuentra en su mejor momento de forma y, como la experiencia es un grado, podemos contar con ver al mejor James en Rusia 2018. ■

PANAMÁ RUSIA 2018 MARCARÁ EL DEBUT DE PANAMÁ EN EL MUNDIAL Tras quedarse a las mismísimas puertas de la clasificación hace cuatro años, el pequeño país centroamericano disputará este verano su primera Copa del Mundo.

usia 2018 será el escenario del debut panameño en un Mundial. Los centroamericanos han quedado enclavados en un complicadísimo Grupo G, donde Bélgica e Inglaterra son los máximos favoritos. Los belgas poseen una enorme calidad y los ingleses saben mejor que nadie cómo disputar este tipo de torneos. También está Túnez, que no gana un partido de Copa del Mundo desde 1978. A pesar de lo complicado del grupo, el cuadro centroamericano afronta el Mundial con una ilusión enorme. El éxito radicará en un rocoso planteamiento defensivo, establecido por el entrenador colombiano, Hernán Darío “Bolillo” Gómez y liderado por el capitán Román Torres, que permitió a Panamá albergar solo un tanto por partido durante el hexagonal clasificatorio. Los panameños deberán mejorar su eficacia goleadora en una delantera en que los veteranos Luis “El Matador” Tejada y Blas Pérez, quienes suman más de 200 participaciones y 85 goles con la selección, lucharán por un puesto con jóvenes que militan en clubes europeos, como Ismael Díaz (20 años) y Gabriel Torres. Los países de la CONCACAF sorprendieron hace cuatro años, consiguiendo tres puestos en los octavos de final. Panamá, uno de los tres representantes de la zona en Rusia 2018, buscará seguir esta tónica. Ilusión no le falta, aunque la mera presencia ya es un gran premio para un grupo de veteranos jugadores que al fin podrá disputar una Copa del Mundo. ■
