SMALL SHIP CRUISING DONE PERFECTLY ®
THE SMALL SHIP ADVANTAGE ™
American Cruise Lines is the largest U.S. cruise line with more ships, itineraries, and options than any others. Our secret to success is the small size of each ship.
Small Ships Fit the River Where others run one behemoth riverboat, we operate multiple small ships. Each can navigate the widest range of river conditions, offer the greatest breadth of itinerary options, and, most importantly, fit harmoniously in the communities we visit.
The Newest Ships Although each ship is small, it offers all the amenities and comforts sophisticated travelers have come to expect. In 2018, American Cruise Lines revolutionized river travel with the first truly modern ships on the U.S. rivers. With the most environmentally friendly fleet in the country, each newly constructed ship is the perfect venue for responsible exploration.
The Largest Staterooms For fifty years, American Cruise Lines has taken pride in the generous size of our staterooms, which average over 350 square feet. Although each ship may be small, we challenge you to find larger onboard staterooms anywhere. Plus, every stateroom has a private balcony with floor-to-ceiling glass doors.
Most Itinerary Options Our fleet offers more than 50 itineraries visiting 35 states. With different ship styles, itineraries, and seasonal specialty cruises, the breadth of options provides something for every interest.

American Cruise Lines Leads the Way
WHAT WE ARE NOT

No big ships No Mega-Mississippi ships
No overtourism or crowding ports
No pre-paid beverage packages
No casinos
No pools

No inside staterooms
No fake balconies
No nickel and diming – no point of sale displays
No overpriced shore tours
No gimmicks

ONBOARD ENRICHMENT
Resident Historians & Experts Every cruise features an onboard expert who hosts discussions and is available throughout each day to add context to your journey along the river. These accomplished professionals also provide briefings on each port, offer their recommendations based on your interests, and connect the stories of each destination to the history of the river.
Nightly entertainment ranges from interactive lectures to live musical performances in one of the ships’ inviting lounges. Resident entertainers provide light music in the afternoon, while renowned artists join us in the evening for world-class entertainment.
ONSHORE EXPERIENCES
Each of our small ships provides a genuine and customized exploration of areas inaccessible to large ships and crowds, allowing us to explore small towns in the most meaningful way possible. Our guided shore excursions bring out the distinct flavor and unique culture of the destinations visited.
Through a careful understanding of our guests, we provide an enriching, destination-focused experience. Small groups visit historic homes, farms, music venues, and more, as we discover each unique place. Every excursion is led by a local guide and accompanied by an American Cruise Lines’ team member who is always available to assist.
OUR CULINARY PROGRAM
Our team of master chefs prepares a traditional American menu with a regional flair that features the freshest local ingredients. Fresh foods are brought aboard daily, some from the farms and vineyards that we visit along the way. Our culinary program is one more way that we connect your onboard experience to the destinations we visit.

Simplified Process - If the unexpected does occur, we offer an easy cancellation process that ensures you receive your money-back refund or are issued Cruise Credits quickly.
Affordable peace of mind - We created the Cancel For Any Reason Protection Plan to provide you with peace of mind at an affordable price as you prepare for your cruise. Plan pricing is simple and based on the cost of your cruise package.

We look forward to having you on board, but understand that sometimes the unexpected happens. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
As the largest and fastest growing U.S. cruise operator, American Cruise Lines believes in leadership through clear standards for sustainable tourism and responsible operation.
Emissions Control Ships will meet or exceed EPA Tier 3 emissions requirements. Tier 3 cuts NOx and particulate matter emissions by 80% over pre-tier levels.
Fuel All ships only use ultra-low sulfur diesel. No bunker oil will be used.
Cold Ironing New ships are ready to “plug in” to any port with shore side electrical infrastructure. Shore power allows vessels to shut down all shipboard carbon emitting equipment during port calls.
Wastewater Treatment Advanced Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS) treat, store, and discharge liquid waste in a manner that outperforms most land based waste treatment facilities.
Advanced Hull Design Through our affiliate Chesapeake Shipbuilding, we research, design, and build vessel hulls that are both fuel efficient and reduce environmental disturbance. This includes hydrodynamic studies, aeration technology, noise and vibration reduction, and state-of-the-art propeller design.
Route Miles Minimization Where larger, foreign-flagged ships need to make international voyages between large cities, American Cruise Lines can often cut route miles by more than 70% by focusing on U.S. small towns and domestic itineraries.
Overtourism American Cruise Lines is committed to keep all ships under 200 passengers. This allows responsible operation in the smallest towns, in harmony with the communities we visit.
Modernizing our Fleet American uses low-energy LED lighting throughout the ship as well as EPA Energy Star equipment to reduce overall onboard energy consumption. This means both less energy consumed and less electricity generated.
