New Healthcare Programs Available The Center for Business Solutions is proud to introduce two new medical non-credit programs that can help individuals jumpstart a career in health care. The Phlebotomy Technician program and EKG Technician program will be offered as non-credit certification programs beginning in April 2017. Both of these programs lead to national certification in highdemand fields. The Phlebotomy Technician program begins April 17. A phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team whose main function is to obtain patients’ blood specimens for testing purposes. The demand for phlebotomy technicians has increased substantially as healthcare services become more complex. Industry experts predict a 15 percent increase in phlebotomy jobs by 2018. CBS’s Phlebotomy Tech program is an 11-week program consisting of 90 credit hours of classroom training and clinical externships. Upon the
successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for a national certification exam. The EKG Tech program begins April 7. The demand for EKG technicians is high, and the need for these professionals in hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics is expected to increase substantially. An EKG Technician uses electrocardiogram instruments to monitor the heart function of patients.

Matt Trice Vice President, Center for Business Solutions
The EKG Tech program at the Center for Business Solutions is an 8-week program consisting of 50 credit hours of classroom training. Clinical externships may also be an option for these students.
