Mong Kok Community Centre 2014
Tutor: Dr. Joseph Wong
Let us play the game of architectonic to explore the possibility of space formation! Community centre (Former site of Mong Kok Market) is created in this compacted and valuable space to cater for residents’ demand. By making tectonic models (Cubic as the basic unit) via density, porosity and proximity, it inspires different soild/void combinations. Innovative tower comes up and challenges traditional podium tower, as well as developing a healthier urban environment.

Solution: Anti-Podium Shifting Tower
-High social interaction -Market and ancestral hall as focal point -Strong neighbourhood bonding with youth, family and the elderly
-Efficiency is pushed to the limit, privatization of space to satisfy site coverage and GFA -Highest density but little connection to the ground and interaction between buildings
-Regain social interaction by means of space shifting -Combination of indoor and outdoor space with mixed functions, with better air ventilation
