Let’s return ourselves to the land and integrate with architecture. For typical crematorium, we store ashes in particular space which makes the atmosphere scary from the traditional mindset. Here the cremated ashes can be scattered to the sea, memorial garden and even on the hall roof. At the same time, it allows the general public to use the garden space for lesiure, art exhibition and social gathering.

To cope with the increasing demand of housing needs, the former site (Originally a secondary school) is converted into 37-storey Public Housing Estate (Approx. 1130 flats)with indoor sports hall (With Jogging Track) and wet market under the approval of Town Planning Board and District Council. We propose to design an “elevated courtyard” for residential usage by integrating sustainable green features to improve the living quality of residents. We submit the DDRP1 & 2 to Housing Authority for S16 applications to change plot ratio and GFA. Here I am specialized in renderings, sketchup modelling and organzing presentation materials.

The project is situated at the mid-level of Kwun Tong District (Choi Wing Road), surrounded by plenty of housing estates. Our task is to review and modify existing plans done by Housing Authority and provide further feasible solutions on podium design, elevations and tower orientation study. It also applies S16 application for building height, modification and GFA amendment.

One of the new initiatives in the 2019 Policy Address Supplement is to plan a new public market in the vicinity of the future railway station in KTN NDA. New public market is required for the future population in KTN NDA. (A future Town Centre accommodating a mix of residential use, retail, leisure and social and community facilities)

KWU TUNG PUBLIC MARKET THE MARKET FOR KWU TUNG NEW TOWN

The selected site is opposite to the future Kwu Tung railway station, which is easily accessible and within walking distance from the station, the future Town Plaza and the public housing development in KTN NDA. The Project will be commenced in Q3 2023 and completed by Q1 2025.

This school project is situated at the mid-level of Sau Mau Ping in Kwun Tong District. Our preliminary design contains primary school and various functional rooms, with a central garden space. The ground floor is reserved as kindergarten. The project is currently in design stage and cooperates with different government departments and school organization. We are developing a MiC construction method for the assemble of classroom. We are still developing further feasible solutions on podium design, elevations and tower orientation study.

The project is to design a public toilet in Tsim Sha Tsui District. The design transforms the left-over space in front of HKCC into a modern and stylish design washroom. It provides 6 cubicles (Female), 4 cubicles (Male), 3 urinals (Male) and 1 Accessible toilet. The construction programme plans to have 14 months construction and 4 months slippage. Its construction method would be under DfMA with Smart toilet & AC provision.

Despite of its prime location, Sai Lau Kok Garden was isolated and suffered from low usage rates. The redevelopment design aims to revitalize the garden into a green urban hub connecting key city nodes, ground and elevated walkway network, enhancing local pedestrian circulation with added community value. This project is an example to create a pedestrian-friendly city. The podium of Sai Lau Kok Garden connects and integrates with Tsuen Wan’s footbridge network. It serves as an important hub connecting different nodes between Tsuen Wan Town Centre and Tsuen Wan West.

The Chief Executive announced in the 2018 Policy Address that a new public market will be built in Tin Shui Wai to accomodate the needs of residents. We are building a temporary market in the open space next to the Tin Sau Road Park in Tin Shui Wai, giving the public an early option to buy fresh food. The government will use innovative thinking to construct and operate the temporary market in Tin Shui Wai, including the use of “assembly and synthesis” to shorten the construction time. The goal is to complete the construction in about one year. In addition, we will try out a new business model with the goal of making the market prosperous and meeting the needs of the district, including the grassroots.

ISLAND EAST LIBRARY STATION A PROTOTYPE OF SELF-SERVICE LIBRARY Completed in 2018

The Self-service Library Station at Island East is a pilot project announced in 2016 Policy Agenda of HKSARG. It was welcomed by public and served as a catalytic point of the reading culture in a Smart City. The architectural design shall be attractive, functional yet sustainable to raise community’s attention to the new service. The key feature of the shelter is the natural bamboo façade in a form of ancient bamboo writing slips and ceiling features to echo the main theme of “Books”. The bamboo material is not easy to handle and will be a huge challenge for on-site construction.

PLANS AND SECTIONS

“The main structure is assembled with prefabricated elements to save construction time and minimize disturbance to the surrounding performance venues.”

D i m e n s i o n

The project is to design a self-service library station at Hong Kong Cultural Centre opposite to the studio theatre, which provides 24-hours borrow and return service to the public. This project is a collaboration between the ArchSD property service branch and the in-house architectural branch. The project team overcomes the challenge in quality control and logistic arrangement, in transforming the left-over space with a modern and stylish design.

THE DETAIL

“Steel frame with bolts and nuts connections”

Designers have incorporated inclusive design elements into library station. Seats are provided for short reading and the barrier-free ramp provides access to the public. Its form takes reference from the unique architectural features and geometry of the Hong Kong Cultural center. Materials like fluted glass and patterned concrete panels are used. The modern and minimal design brings a fresh look to the under-covered space and provides a comfortable and functional library station to the public. The elegant structure is formed entirely by steel members. Due to its proximity with the performing venue and the limited working space, prefabrication with bolts and nuts connections were adopted to reduce overall construction time and minimize the impact to the neighbors.
