In 2022 the new Rheinpark will connect again the city of Neuenburg with the river Rhine. Five layers are set up to deal with the landscape gradient of transition between river and city, from the riparian wood to the urban park. The result is a free spatial sequence with an increasing gradient of cultivation and intensity of use: from the riparian park, to the open field and the productive park dedicated to fruit plantation. The fourth section of the park is the long topographical element integrating with the highway, working as noise and pollution barrier. The last section of the park is the connection with the city, through the new urban park around the Wuhrloch pond, with the new beach, cafè and playground areas. Inspired to the fluvial morphology and the system of flows and meanders, the project designs a new system of paths parallel to the river, bordering the five thematic areas of the park. This system assigns to the landscape a new readability, facilitating the orientation and movement in the nature. All the park layers meet up in the large promenade, directly connecting the city with the river.

STADTPARK The area of the new urban park of Neutraubling was a former farming area bewteen the productive district and a residential area, characterized by small housing units and various agricoltural facilities. The new park, located between the places of living and working of the community, is conceptuallu developed as a green oasis, with an independent character and own new qualities. A place that responds to the local context by selectively opening or closing to the sorrounding conditions. The placement of the trees at different heights and depths creates a variety of visual axis inside the park, both inwards and outwards. The tree distribution adapts to the different contexts along the perimeter, generating spaces that are sometimes compressed or expanded, shadowed or well-lighted, dense or permeable. The vegetation defines therefore the park borders, leaving empty a large central space, made of two fields differently treated: a wilder meadow and a grass lawn to stay and relax, play and host open air events.

TEXTIL VIERTEL In the past, the streams Proviant and Herrenbach, fed the textile district of Augsburg, in the form of water and energy. During the de-instrustrializaton process, the area lost its context, leaving behind historical facilities, buildings and abandoned spaces along the canal banks. Actually new requalification processes are arising, that will change the character of the old textile district, and the canal plays a strategic role. The systematisation of this empty spaces along the water lines permits the creation of a long green corridor that connects the key areas of the new development to the city. A continuous public space for pedestrians and bikes, terraces and piers, playgrounds, sport facilities and multifunctional spaces. A phytodepuration systems is implemented along the stream to improve the water quality and strenghten the biodiversity. The focus of the project is to re-discover the water element and bring it back to the inhabitants, offering different possibilities of experience and interaction, re-integrating the canal systems in the contemporary urban structure to give the textile district a new significance.
