League Members Help Dream Court Succeed

By Katie Richard, Dream Court committee chair

Dream Court Inc, is a nonprofit organization that provides an adaptive tennis program for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, striving for inclusion and acceptance. The Junior League Dream Court Placement Committee helped Dream Court with their fall season, which consisted of six practices and included setting up the courts for the twelve courts at O’Connor Tennis Center and being a volunteer coach with one of the fifty athletes that was part of the program this Fall.

The committee also helped with the end-of-the-year hotdog party, as well as the inaugural Montgomery Open Wheelchair Tournament. The end-ofthe-year party consisted of a medal ceremony to celebrate the athlete’s progress made throughout the season, as well as hotdogs from That’s My Dog and fun treats. The Montgomery Open Wheelchair Tournament was a huge success with 20 wheelchair athletes traveling from across the country to participate in the two-day event. Committee members helped with registration, hospitality and served as “ball boys” to help make this event a huge success. We look forward to being back on the courts for the spring season!
