Kúnigo was a recycling project developed in Medellín, Colombia with a vulnerable community located on the periphery of the city.
KEY INSIGHTS High amount of wastes wrongly thrown away, making them impossible to recycle Community interested in colaborate to create a cleaner environment for living Fragmented recycler’s community, unorganized and unlinked to the municipal recycling grid
We used collaborative thinking, talking to experts and working alongside the community to create a valuable product which could integrate the task of recycling in a fun and thoughtful way.
recyclers parents PARENTS kids
easy to separete and collect wastes
learn how to recycle and help parents teaching the kids to do so
fun to use and interactive / get rewards
SOME OF THE CONCEPTS AND IDEAS WE DEVELOPED WITH USERS
results
Development of a pilot project to classify wastes before recyclers do it. The classification is right on the top of the pyramid: the community itself. Awareness throught sensibilization activities, frequent visits and meetings. HCD used to create a valuable product concept to help them recycle and improve their lifestyle.

Zezione was a project developed for “Don Jaime a popular street vendor who suffered from a chronic disease which over time, deformed his bone structure. This condition limited drasticaly his mobility, thus his only way of shifting around was with a tricyle adapted to be run by hand instead of feet.
Our major task was to replace the old model for a new one with aggregate features to make his mobility and hence, well-being better.
challenge
KEY INSIGHTS
Ease the effort of handling his vehicle (reduce frame weight, improve mechanism, implement a suspension system)
Protect him from risks such as climate conditions, traffic accidents and so on.
He needed space in his vehicle to run his selling business (special compartments for chewing gum)
To fit everywhere was a key issue due to his busy lifestyle (Standard doors, elevators, building entrances, etc.)
the process Ergonomic measures
Using the first prototype
Building up the first functional prototype
Refinement and second round of user test Testing prototype
