Brighteye Ventures’ 2021 EdTech Predictions It’s fair to say that many EdTech predictions for 2020 were turned on their heads by the pandemic. However, more than a year since the pandemic started, the leading authority in the European EdTech sector – Brighteye Ventures – made predictions on what 2021 might hold for learners and educators.
Unbundling of PostSecondary Education Brighteye foresees a year where the range of digital educational programs will broaden and deepen. This uptick will be driven by both improvements in evidence surrounding the effectiveness of digital, personalised approaches as well as a demand in later education years to ensure that learners have the digital skills needed in the workplace. Providers of these platforms will, in places, bypass established learning institutions.
Just-In-Time Learning
Community Learning
Learning is most effective when the lessons and content provided are relevant to what learners are either studying now or planning to do in future roles. Various platforms have emerged, offering a just-in-time learning model. Such platforms are likely to grow as demand for time-limited, micro accreditations increases and becomes more tightly linked to workplace demands.
In 2021 and beyond, the role of the community in enhancing the learning experience will develop as a focus for providers both in the formal education sector and in programmes for professionals. Learning alongside a network of engaged, passionate colleagues is quickly being considered as important as the content itself, particularly in programmes for established professionals.
