Patronales
Beginning with an overview of the history, the festival of "employer" honors St. James son of Zebedee and disciple of Jesus. This conclusion arises because the conquerors in the colonial era laid the foundation of the city under the protection of Santiago whose cathedral acquired its name. Since then a great feast in honor of his patron. Currently one of the main celebrations. The festivities are certainly proud to Santiago people. Currently known as "mid-year carnival" This is because the popular "mojaderas" in some nightclubs are performed but is actually a religious holiday. Definitely for the city of Santiago these parties are an important economic flow. However, over time have been changing cultural festivals to street parties sometimes messy fun due to its popularity seeking ways to attract more public, still are enjoyed by young and old.
The festivities begin on July 16 with novenas in honor of Santiago Apostle overnight and culminate on the night of July 24, to give way to date the employer, 25 with the procession.
The July 27 festivities begin with ride street children in the morning, in the afternoon with the great Procession and mobile units that brighten the atmosphere with varied music. Culminates in the evening hours with cultural performances in addition to nightclubs. These are some of the activities that we enjoy in this great celebration, other attractions are the rides, food sales, games and stalls peddling on Central Avenue. Finally all activities conclude on Sunday July 30th.
In conclusion, this great celebration that represents great economic inputs is positive and also negative, on all these years is that there have been big changes for the disorderly atmosphere generated.
