BOUTIQUE HOTEL

A boutique hotel provides a luxurious environment with personalized accommodations. Since New York City attracts millions of tourists annually, our city needs to provide visitors with high quality hotels. Boutique Hotels might not only be served to annual guests but may also be open to the general public. My goal for working with this building type is to achieve connection between individuals from all around the world that will stay at the hotel, where functionality, design, and productivity are a key factor of this building. The concept was developed from the sound waves. The site where the hotel is located is a historical landmark dedicated to seaport in Downtown Manhattan, New York. Therefore I developed my concept based on the sound waves put out from the ocean waves. The theory of design is based on the smooth curves that the resulting sounds make known as waveform allowing us to visualize something that we can only hear. This visual representation of sound waves resembles my project because of the soft curves of my boutique hotel.

At the entrance on the first floor of the boutique hotel, you will see a reception desk followed by the lounge. Subsequent to the lounge is a gift shop. The most unique element of the hotel is the big spiral stair that is half of the diameter of the whole tower. As it proceeds upwards, there is a decrease in diameter by one foot on each floor making a spiral wave effect. This stair connects to the concept of sound waves as well as to the actual shape of the building. The spiral stair is open from the first floor to the ninth floor at the core of the tower. The top of the stair is enclosed; however, it has dramatic lighting effects with sources coming from the first floor and the ceiling of the last floor. As you proceed to the body on the first floor of the hotel, you will enter to the large restaurant with an occupancy allowance for one hundred-fourteen people. The restaurant comprises of a performance stage and a grand piano for classical music. There is also a bar that curves around the corners inside the restaurant. The bar is divided into two parts: sushi and cocktail drinks. The kitchen, the loading dock, and the service elevator are located in the back of the restaurant. From the second floor to the eighth floor all provide stay rooms. All even floors contain offices and at the right wing there are small computer labs. While odd floors have gyms and at the right wing there are spinning rooms. There are eight ambassador suites containing two rooms; one bedroom, a dining room and a bathroom. In the bedroom there are two twin beds, a sofa, an arm chair, a dining table, flat screen TV with cable. Ambassadors suites in the bedroom provide views of the Brooklyn Bridge due to the two adjacent curtain walls. There are thirty junior suites having two full sized beds, a sofa, arm chair, and a flat cable television. Thirty-nine studios contain one king/two queen sized beds, a love seat, and cable TV. The ninth floor has an enclosed glass roof , with a bar, sitting area and two Jacuzzis. There are six spa rooms with a view of Brooklyn Bridge. The windows of the spa overlooking toward the hydrotherapy pool. In the hydrotherapy pool, there are various water therapies using jets, underwater massage and mineral baths.
