Green Youth Citizens is Launched in Six Countries around the World Green Youth Citizens started with the aim to build a transnational network between the youth of Europe and Asia though creating environmental awareness, leadership and exercising active citizenship. The project is implemented in six partner countries they are Romania, Spain, Turkey, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The project is launched formally in each partner countries for information dissemination, public awareness and to begin the project work.

On October 1, 2013, Green Youth Citizen is launched in Romania by Young Trainers Association for the Promotion of Rural Development. The project is funded by the European Commission Youth in Action Programme - Action 3.2 "Youth in the World" and implemented in partnership with youth organizations from Spain, Turkey, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Because proposed by a partnership between Europe and Asia, the creation of a transnational network of organizations interested in protecting the environment, environmental education, and promoting behaviors "green" in local communities. The main aim is to raise community partners on environmental issues and how they limit our exercise of active citizenship.

Green Youth Citizens project was launched in Bangladesh among the members of Green Club and distinguished guests on November 23, 2014. Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO presented the objectives, aims and expected outcome of the project to introduce it. Participants presented their suggestion about the implementation of the project. In total there were 30 guests present in the Inception Workshop. The workshop was extended to an open discussion for the guests and students’ workshop about their action plan of Green Club. This inception workshop is the beginning of the project in Bangladesh which will continue for one year by involving youths in sustainable community development.

On November 24, 2013 Green Youth Citizen was launched in India by Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA). The launching ceremony was attended by 28 young participants from across the state of Orissa. The launching was done through formal meeting.


In Nepal, the project Green Youth Citizen was launched on December 9, 2013 by Sambhawana. Ms. Anita Thapa, Director of Sambhawana shared the project concept and how young people can participate in the project. She explained the objectives, activities, results and outcomes of the project. 25 guests were present in the launching ceremony that came from different background, such as youth environment activists, environment lawyer, youth leaders, community mobilizers and students. The launching ceremony included a presentation followed by a discussion session where participants shared their valuable opinions and suggestions.

To publicize the Green Youth Citizens project in Spain, the Socio Association LLERE organized two simultaneous conferences in different locations, Talavera de la Reina and Toledo, on January 11, 2014. The purpose is to perform group work to raise awareness about the importance of environmental movement and issues, especially engaging the youths of the mass population. In addition, the launching also provided information about this project and environmental topics.

Turkey launched Green Youth Citizens through volunteer workshops. They raised the environmental issue regarding Zonguldak city which is facing severe deforestation and associated environmental problems. Volunteers simultaneously launched the project and promoted this cause through newspaper protestation.
