Client Brief Tutor Alex Dobson Learner Name Issue Date 08/01/2017 Summative Assessment 08/05/2017 This assignment covers Grading Criteria from the following units: Unit 5 Working to a Brief Learning Outcome 1 - Understand the requirements of working to a brief Learning Outcome 2 - Be able to develop a planned response to a brief Learning Outcome 3 - Be able to apply a response to a brief Learning Outcome 4 - Be able to review work on completion of a brief Aim & Purpose This unit aims to take you the learner through the whole process of working to a brief from initial negotiations, through the process of developing and realising ideas in liaison with the client to final self-evaluation on completion of the work. Dealing with a brief requires a range of skills including the business skills needed to negotiate one, the creative ability to come up with ideas, and the specific technical skills needed to realise those ideas. Good interpersonal skills are also needed, as there is a need to be able to enter into someone else’s mind to some extent in order to get to know what they really want. Moreover, it has to be said, relations with clients are not always straightforward or easy. Feedback from the client will be invaluable in developing a professional approach to media work. The Assignment You have been approached from Hysteria Creations to create a range of assets for the game Primate Planet. You will be briefed in person by members from the team where you will negotiate what work is required. You may be asked to produce in game assets such as Level Design, 3D asset creation, Concept Art (traditional or Digital, HUD display, Sound effects, music or texturing or promotional materials. You can choose an area in your own expertise for your portfolio or may choose to improve your skills in another area. Example Workflow 3D - create at least 3 3D models or game ready assets. For each model, 3 pieces of concept art should be produced – traditional or digital concept Art should be presented to the HND clients, where feedback for each piece of work will be given and the best piece of artwork for each model will be agreed. Once your final designs have been chosen you will then be asked to recreate your designs in 3D using 3DS Max to specific constraints for the game Monkey Planet.

Client Brief Learning Outcome 1 - (P1 M1 D1) Comprehensively explain the requirements of the client brief as directed below - Prepare a detailed proposal that explains the structure of this client brief explain how you intend to respond to the client brief. Your proposal must identify opportunities for self development within this assignment brief and why you have chosen your specific field. - A log that highlights your client needs and constraints as set out in your client meetings.

Learning Outcome 2 - (P2 M2 D2) Develop a planned response to a Brief to meet requirements of client needs that shows flair and creativity working independently; A Pre-Production log covering the following: - Health & Safety issues, relevant legislation to be followed & working practises noted (HSE) - Timescale plan: including deadlines, resources and skills needed to complete client brief and client peer feedback (from meetings). - Develop: Identify possible solutions and produce a range of potential solutions for Monkey Planet. Explain and analyse how each of you concepts meets the requirements of the client brief Submission of Work All work is to be submitted digitally onto its learning you may include links to office 365 and OneDrive accounts if video files are too large to upload to its learning. Client Brief Learning Outcome 3 - (P3 M3 D3) Be able to apply a response to a brief showing flair and creativity working independently to nea rprofessional expectations. - Apply pre-production & production methods to create assets as discussed with client monitoring your work as it progresses. - Client: log all client feedback, revisions to brief/plan/work, dealing with complaints or difficulties. - Present final work to client and log all feedback Learning Outcome 4 - (P4 M4 D4) Critically evaluate own work referencing your own professional practise and using correct subject terminology.
