A welcome from Mayor Simon Richardson Welcome to the Spirit Festival - we love you being here. Whether from standing before the ocean, gazing at the sacred mountain - Wollumbin, or sitting in circle with others, this Shire can awaken a sense of custodianship in all of us. When we are open to it and when we are ready for it. As you are here to celebrate Spirit, no doubt you are open and ready. Our strong Bundjalung elders, past and present have generated an ancestral energy of power and importance. Please take your time whilst moving through our shire - our beaches, hinterland waterholes, towns and villages are great places to sit, chat, and celebrate life. I hope the glow within everybody at this wonderful festival, gained from connecting with the ancestral energy of this place and people, shines upon our shire and the world. Friday Night Concert - High School Friday Night - Opening and Honouring Our intention is to embrace spiritual practices that awaken the ancestral wisdom within each of us. Our opening concert honours the ancestors of this sacred land of the Arakwal and Bundjalung People and also welcomes cultural keepers from afar. Connect, Celebrate, Dance!
Welcome to Country The Welcome to Country is a traditional ceremony where our local custodians will honour the ancestors of this land via the spiritual traditions that have existed here for millenia. We will be led by Aunty Delta and the Arakwal dancers and officially welcomed to this Country.
Franko Heke (NZ) Franko’s music is a fusion of electronica and kirtan, with various cultural musical influences including the native Maori language and Sanskrit. Performing a tranquil blend of traditional kirtan as well as original music, delivering an uplifting and engaging performance.
Tubby Love & Amber Lily (HAWAII) Tubby Love and his partner Amber Lily are on a musical mission to pay homage to the universal positive vibration with conscious lyrics and contagious melodies. Their soul-saturated sound is soaked in rootsy rhythms, with a live performance energy that will allow you to truly experience the music.
Chris Berry & Banakuma (USA) Grammy award winning Chris Berry is an eclectic singer and songwriter, multi-instrumentalist virtuoso, and highly energetic performer and teacher. Chris will be performing at the festival with special guests including Elliott Orr of Spankinhide.
Saturday Night Concert - High School Saturday Night - Culture of Creation This evening we journey to connect, understand and deeply honour our role as custodians of culture. We are all creators in this moment, and the intentions we hold shape the culture we create; past, present and future. Honour, Expand, Rise Up!
Cacao Ceremony with Jemma Gawned & Guests The Cacao Ceremony experience brings together ancient traditions with modern music in a symbiotic merging of sound and ceremony, honouring all who have been, all who are and all who are yet to come. The combination is a powerful and transformative experience.
Elijah Ray (USA) A prodigious composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist, Elijah Ray is known for his pioneering heart and transformational music that crosses a wide scope of genres. His shining presence, gritty soul, and message of love invites the listener to experience what it is to be an awakening human.
Deya Dova (AUS) Deya Dova fuses the earthy and sensual power of her voice with the cutting edge futurism of Global Bass music. Synthesizing ancient songlines and tribal voices with cinematic soundscapes, whomping bass and totemic beats, Deya Dova invokes a mythic temple vibe and brings euphoric tribalism to the dance floor. SPECIAL GUEST MUSICIANS, DANCERS & POETS The Festival is renowned for unique collaborations and original dance performances. Each night will feature special offerings from some Ăźber talented individuals, crafted to compliment the themes of each evening, including; Arterium, Keshira Fife, Suebee Faye, Travers Ross, Jaymen Jwalk & Indigo Sparke.
Sunday Night Concert - Civic Hall Sunday Night - Uniting the Collective Heart Join us tonight as we celebrate the power of Unity as experienced through the collective sharing of meditation, song and dance. May we truly know ourselves as one and yet inherently unique. Ground, Sing, Unite!
Si Mullumby (AUS) Si has developed a totally new style of playing didgeridoo. Mixing tight vocal percussive beats with deep bass grooves an awesomely textured sonic environment is created. Si has a strong following in Australia, Japan and Europe after touring many times with his dance band Wild Marmalade.
Closing Ceremony We come together to ground and integrate our festival experience. Allowing personal and poetic aspects of self to shine and be seen. We weave the ancient magick of the Humandala and align with our true heart. The Rainbow Yoga Family lead us on a yoga journey like no other circle.
Tina Malia (USA) Tina Malia is a visionary musical artist. Enchanting audiences worldwide, her sonic creations span sacred chant, world, dream pop and folk music genres. A prolific singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and sound engineer, Malia expresses her radiant inner landscape through song.
Shakshuka (AUS) Shukshuka’s heartachingly beautiful and contagiously danceable songs are inspired by the many colours of nomadic music, from the Beduin music of the Sinai deserts to ancient Hebrew songs, Eastern European caravans and Spanish Andalusia. Join us in the Gypsy Dance!

Indigenous & Cultural Arts Presenters Delta Kay - Arakwal Custodian An Arakwal Bumberbin Bundjalung woman and proud mother and grandmother, Delta is passionate about sharing her culture and protecting Country. She is an Arakwal spokesperson and one of the Aboriginal custodians of Byron Bay.
Uncle Magpie - Minyunabul Yuganbeh Songman Uncle Magpie Currie is a Minyunabal Yugambeh songman and self taught artist. He has worked for many years in different cultural positions, sharing with dance troupes through Ceremony and Song. He has a great passion and a heart felt generosity to pass on Dreaming and Cultural knowledge.
Eshua Bolton - Didge Healing / Concert MC Eshua Bolton an Indigenous Australian Murruwarri Man, for the past 25 years has been engaging audiences in raising consciousness towards a healthy planetary future. He is a multi platform performer, M.C. Didgeridoo Sound Healer, Cultural Advisor/Liaison facilitator of healing.
Lakota John - Four Winds Wellness Hoksila Lakota, commonly known as Lakota John is a Native American whose heritage comes from Oklahoma and the Great Plains of North America. Using the time-tested spiritual wisdom of his ancestors he helps guide others back from the dark world that he himself used to live in; the world of illusion and separation.
Whaia Whaea - Maori Sonic Weaver A Ngati Kahungunu woman, this Maori goddess is a ‘Sonic Weaver’ and Creator of sonic ceremonies. She brings forth universal frequencies that entwine ones heart, body and spirit, passed down from her ancestral lineage and AuntyTe Raina Ferris, Founder of Kurawaka.
Yoga - Festival Presenters Clive Sheridan - Yoga Clive has been sharing his ‘Yoga Cocktail’ internationally for more than 40 years - ‘Opening the Heart & Clearing the Mind - Awakening to Delight’. After spending many years in India, Clive leads retreats in Asia, Europe & Australia throughout the year.
Duncan Peak - Power Living Yoga Sydney’s Duncan Peak (aka YogiDunx) founded Power Living 12 years ago and has influenced the evolution of yoga in Australia ever since. He’s travelled the globe connecting with many thousands of creative individuals through the universe of yoga.
John Weddepohl (STH AFRICA) - इष्टम् ISHTAM John opened his first yoga studio in downtown Johannesburg, South Africa in 1969. Since 2011, John and his partner Rachel share इष्टम् ISHTAM at festivals, teacher trainings and workshops around the world. Traditional without being traditionalist.
Rachel Zinman - इष्टम् ISHTAM Rachel Zinman has been practising since 1983, teaching since 1992 and teaching teachers since 2000. She’s studied with some of the most influential teachers in the west including Alan Finger and Mark Whitwell and studied Advaita Vedanta in the lineage of Shankacharya in India.
Les Leventhal - Vinyasa Flow Greatly in demand around the world, Les’ yoga teaching will give you an opportunity to heal your heart, laugh, cry, dance, and simply let go. Some classes flow freely, while others explore longer holds. When you take better care of yourself, you can then take better care of those around you.
Yoga - Festival Presenters Uma Inder (BALI) - Yoga Ayurveda Uma is often initially unpalatable to the Western practitioner accustomed to spiritual padding. Uma is absolute truth and absolute love. For accepting everything as love involves perception of everything: the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ alike, indeed, interwoven.
Tahl Rinsky (USA) - Creature Yoga Co Founder of Creature Yoga, Tahl shares a creative and accessible blend of Vinyasa and Ashtanga in a strong, fun and dynamic style. Her classes, like her photographic work (@trinskyyoga), celebrate the raw beauty of life’s moments and the individual strengths each of us carry within.
Louise Solomon - Yogalates A pioneer in the health and fitness industry; she is considered an expert on fusing asana with core therapy by Yoga Australia. The Yogalates method now incorporates the fundamental pelvic patterns from leading Physiotherapist Josephine Keys specialising in back pain.
Johnathon Dao - E-motion Yoga Dr Johnathon Dao MD(AM) is the founder of E-motion Yoga, and has been teaching Yoga & Qigong for over 2 decades with a focus on emotional healing. During a 10-year period in India studying Ayurveda and Yoga, he stumbled across an ancient movement form which he shares via E-motion Yoga.
Geoff Brooks - Ananta Yoga Geoff’s popular classes blend traditional Asana into a series of strengthening and aligning sequences, choreographed to music. This vibrant session enables students of all levels to work towards the union of Mind, Body, Spirit. Ananta in sanskrit means ‘limitless’ or ‘boundless’.

Lissie Turner - The Yoga Shack Co-Founder of the Yoga Shack, Lissie combines two decades of communication experience with study in health and wellbeing. Her aim is to help people become aware of their strength and their own experience, to then turn back inward to begin ‘to see’ that which is unmoving and incorruptible.

The Rainbow Yoga Space is a family friendly, shady hub which will offer kids & teens yoga sessions, conscious craft and creative activities for young and old. The Spirit Stage is the heart of the Spirit Village and offers a live program during the day, showcasing the creators, musicians, visionaries, ethical entrepreneurs, healers and seers that collectively weave the web of these spiritual heartlands. The Spirited Master of Ceremonies, Paul Hunt, will ensure abundant laughter, insight and love shall flow all weekend in this warm tribal heart.
Rainbow Yoga Family Space This year we are thrilled to be partnering with Rainbow Kids Yoga to create the Rainbow Yoga Family Space. Offering daily yoga workshops designed for kids, teens and the whole family as well an obstacle course and awesome yoga craft projects. Join us in the Spirit Village and stretch with the whole family in this fun and creative play space.
Changing the world one child at a time Our 3-Day Rainbow Kids Yoga Teacher Training is a comprehensive, intensive and practical certification course. Be prepared to practice and learn to teach yoga whilst laughing, dancing, playing and singing! The course is for ANYBODY who loves working with children. It’s for yoga teachers wanting to specialise, educators to bring the benefits of yoga to their classrooms and for parents to find new ways to connect with their children and family.
