DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS JUST YET! If you’re one of the millions of people who made fitness a New Year’s

resolution this year, you might be feeling frustration creep up on you.

People often expect to make more progress than is reasonably possible, which leads them to give up just a few months into the new year.

However, if you readjust your goals and follow a few suggestions, you

may be surprised by what you can accomplish in the coming months.

TRY A BUNCH OF SMALLER GOALS Most people set out with the

intention of losing 30 or 50 pounds within the year, but such an ambitious goal can be

disconcerting. Instead, try setting

smaller goals that are obtainable within a shorter amount of time.

For instance, set a goal of losing 5 pounds. When you drop those five pounds, set that goal again.

BET ON YOUR AMBITION There are now health apps that let you bet on your ability to obtain a specific goal. HealthyWage and similar apps let you place these kinds of bets. People participate in this type of program because it keeps them focused on their goals. If you bet that you can lose five pounds in two weeks and you do accomplish that objective, you win money. Conversely, failing to meet your goals means you lose whatever money you wagered.

SCHEDULE YOUR WORKOUTS Many people lose sight of their fitness

goals as a result of a hectic daily routine. The only real way you’re going to achieve your goals is by making your workouts a priority in your life. Many full-time

professionals find that the best way to do

this is by scheduling appointments for their workouts. It’s much harder to skip a

workout once you mark it down on your calendar.

KEEP TRACK OF YOUR WORKOUTS There are many ways you can track your fitness progress, and you’ll have to find the method that works best for you. One option is to buy a notebook and simply start a fitness journal, which should be used to record your activities, progress, and accomplishments. Alternatively, there are some fitness apps that track your progress for you and send reports to the email account you provide.
