HOW TO HANDLE LOSING MOTIVATION BY ALEX WINBORN
We’ve all had the experience of being extremely motivated to reach a goal. You start out feeling great and feeling like you can accomplish anything.
But then something changes and your motivation wears off.
Motivation comes in waves. As quickly as it hits you, it can slip through your fingers.
So, what should we do about losing motivation?
First, we need to prepare. If we don’t prepare, we are more likely to give up the moment we don’t feel motivated anymore.
Create a plan for what you need to do to be successful. What are the actions you need to take each day to get where you want to go? Also, ask yourself, “What will I do when I no longer feel motivated?
After you’ve prepared your plan, you need to take action. You’ll likely start out feeling very motivated. But you’ll also know that you’ve got a plan in place for when that motivation wears off.
The difference between success and failure is often perseverance. If you can press on through the times when you don’t feel like doing what you should do, then you’ll have a greater change of reaching your goal.
If you stick to your plan no matter how you feel, soon you’ll have created a new habit.
Once you create a habit, those daily actions will become much easier and take much less discipline.
Creating successful habits will make you much less dependent on motivation. It won’t matter if you’re feeling energized or lazy, motivated or unmotivated. You will continue to do the actions that lead you to success because those actions are ingrained into you.
You are capable of achieving your goals; you just need to believe it and take action. If you follow these instructions and prepare, persevere, and create successful habits, you can succeed at whatever you put your mind to!
