the concluding session of Jalsa Salana Germany 2024
Islamabad, Tilford, UK, 25 August 2024: At approximately 14:30 GMT, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, may Allah be his Helper, arrived at the Masroor Hall, Islamabad, UK, for the concluding session of Jalsa Salana Germany 2024.
After his arrival, Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa invited Imran Basharat Sahib to recite a portion of the Holy Quran (Surah Aal-e-‘Imran, V.103-108). Laiq Ahmad Munir Sahib then presented their Urdu translation, and the German translation was read out by Salman Peter Ernst Sahib. Following this, Murtaza Mannan Sahib was invited to present an Urdu poem of the Promised Messiahas, Hay Shukre Rabbe Aazza Wa Jall
Huzooraa then invited the National Secretary of Talim to announce the names of Ahmadi graduates who had exceptional academic and educational achievements during the years 2022–23.
Opposition to the Promised Messiah’sas claim
Huzooraa then began his address by reflecting on the opposition faced by the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza
Definition of a Muslim and a Muhajir
Hazrat Abdullahra ibn Amr narrated that “The Prophetsa declared, ‘A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe. And a Muhajir [emigrant] is one who abandons what Allah has prohibited.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab arriqaq, Bab al-intihai’i ‘ani l-ma‘asi, Hadith 6484)
Reformation through prayer
“In essence, for the reformation of the self and to achieve a virtuous end, seeking the grace to perform righteous deeds involves another dimension—prayer [du‘a]. The extent of reliance and certainty one places in God Almighty in this endeavour, and the steadfast steps one takes upon this path, will yield excellent results and fruits. All difficulties will be dispelled, and the one who prays will attain the highest ranks of piety.” (Tafsir Hazrat Masih-e-Maud, Vol. 1, p. 658)

in exact accordance with the prophecies of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and under the command of Allah the Almighty. Huzooraa noted that many Muslim clerics, who once regarded the Promised Messiahas as the greatest defender of Islam, turned against him, declaring him an infidel and issuing edicts against him.
The Promised Messiahas consistently explained that his advent is in perfect alignment with the needs of the time and was in complete servitude to the Holy Prophetsa. He emphasised that the signs of the Latter Days, as foretold by the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa and Allah the Almighty, were manifesting in support of his claim. However, Huzooraa said that the eyes of the opponents remained veiled, refusing to acknowledge these signs, even though they recognised the dire need for the Messiah and Mahdi.
Signs of divine support
Huzooraa highlighted that the opponents reject the Promised Messiahas and instead expect the physical return of a Prophet of the Bani Isra’il. However, the Promised Messiahas made it clear that Allah’s promise was being fulfilled through him, and that numerous signs were evident, both in the heavens and on earth, as well as through warnings and admonishments. Yet, the opponents remained deaf to these signs, refusing to reflect on them.
Huzooraa said that despite the relentless opposition, Allah continues to grant success and progress to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people join the Jamaat, pledging allegiance to the Promised Messiahas and embracing true servitude to the Holy Prophetsa
Reflection on the Promised Messiah’sas words
Huzooraa stated that, in the words of the Promised Messiahas, he would continue to speak about the signs and the needs of the hour that serve as illuminating evidence of the truthfulness of the Promised Messiah’sas claim. Huzooraa also expressed his intent to share faith-inspiring incidents that demonstrate how Allah the Almighty is guiding people to accept the truth of the Promised Messiah’sas mission, fulfilling the prophecies of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa and the promises of Allah the Almighty.
The Promised Messiahas said:
“O seekers after truth and true lovers of Islam! It is clear to you all that this age in which we are expending our lives is such a dark time that extreme wickedness has permeated whatever exists in matters of faith and deeds. A fierce tempest of vice and depravity rages from every direction. What is called faith has been replaced by a few words of mere verbal profession, and the phenomena referred to as good deeds are deemed to be satisfied by so many rites of ceremony or extravagance, or acts of hypocrisy, whilst being completely oblivious to what true piety is. Even the philosophy and naturalism of this age stand
in stark opposition to spiritual well-being. Infatuation with them proves to have an extremely negative influence upon those acquainted with them, and seduces them towards [spiritual] darkness. They stir toxic elements and awaken the slumbering Satan [within]. Those who indulge in these disciplines frequently develop such scepticism in religious matters that they begin to view the principles established by God Almighty, as well as the acts of worship related to fasting, prayer, etc., with an attitude of contempt and derision. Their hearts do not so much as hold any regard or reverence even for the Being of God Almighty. On the contrary, most of them are coloured with apostasy and filled with atheism, and despite being recognized as the progeny of Muslims, they are enemies of the Faith.
“Oftentimes it verily happens that those who are studying in colleges are not even relieved from learning their required disciplines before they have relieved and resigned themselves from the Faith and from sympathy for the Faith. This is merely one branch that I have mentioned that is laden with the fruits of darkness in the present age, but there are yet hundreds of other branches besides it that are no less than it!
“It is generally observed that trust and honesty have departed from the world to such a degree as if they have disappeared completely. Fraud and deceit in pursuit of worldly wealth have transgressed beyond the extreme; the individual most cunning of all being considered the most competent of all! Various forms of dishonesty, fraud, adultery, deceit, and falsehood; schemes abounding in the most egregious degree of cunning and covetousness; and habits rife with evil are spreading about. Vindictiveness and wrangling, combined with the utmost cruelty, are on the rise. A storm of bestial and evil passions has surged forth. The more adept and proficient people become in these contemporary sciences and laws, the more deficient they become in the natural traits of nobility of
disposition and nobility of conduct, and the innate qualities of modesty, shame, fearfulness of God, and honesty.
“The teachings of Christians, too, are devising different types of mines to blow up [the edifice of] truth and honesty. Christians are painstakingly exerting the maximum effort to concoct all the subtle nuances of falsehood and fabrication to obliterate Islam, employing them at every occasion and opportunity in order to plunder [Muslims of their faith]. Brand new paradigms to beguile and ever-modern means to mislead are being fashioned. They egregiously insult the Perfect Man [Muhammadsa], who was the Pride of all Holy Ones, the Crown of all Chosen Ones, and the Chief of all Noble Messengers, to the extent that Islam and the Holy Guide of Islam are diabolically portrayed in theatrical shows in a variety of unflattering themes and caricatures. Such slander is propagated by means of the theatre in which all villainy has been employed to debase the honour of Islam and the Holy Prophetsa
“Now—O Muslims!—listen and listen attentively! To the extent that this Christian nation has employed convoluted calumny to impede the purifying effect of Islam, indulging in the most deceptively fraudulent machinations and breaking their backs in propagating them while streaming money as if it were water, and exerting efforts even to the point of exhausting the most shameful means— the mentioning of which is better left out of this essay—for the very sake of those magical feats from the court of Christian nations and advocates of the Trinity; it is completely beyond belief and imagination for naive souls to be delivered from this European sorcery so long as God Almighty does not brandish that Mighty Hand which holds within itself the power of a miracle and so long as He does not shatter this spell of sorcery into pieces with that miracle. So in order to thwart this enchantment, God Almighty granted this miracle to the true Muslims of the present age by
sending this servant of His to confront the enemies—having honoured him with His revelation and word and His special blessings, and having bestowed upon him perfect understanding of the subtle intricacies of His path, and having granted him a multitude of heavenly wonders and miracles, and spiritual insights and subtleties—so that this Heavenly Stone may smash the waxen idol prepared by European sorcery.
“Therefore—O Muslims!—the coming of this humble one is a miracle from God to dispel the darkness of this spell. Was it not demanded that a miracle should also appear in the world to confront this sorcery? Is this idea so strange and incredible in your eyes that God Almighty should manifest such a divine radiance as bears the impact of a miracle to confront the most egregious degree of wile, which has accrued up to the true [deceptive] nature of magic?” (The Victory of Islam, pp. 4-7)
Reply to a false claim
Huzooraa then addressed some false claims made by opponents of the Promised Messiahas. One such claim is that the Promised Messiahas was a plant of the British in the subcontinent. The fact is that this is a baseless accusation; the Promised Messiahas openly spoke against the wrongdoings of European Christians, even though it was during British rule in India. Huzooraa shared a couplet by the Promised Messiahas, highlighting the inevitability of his appointment. In one of his couplets, the Promised Messiahas stated:
“This was indeed the appointed time for none other than the Messiah; Had I not been appointed, someone else would surely have appeared!” (Durr-e-Sameen, p. 196)
This couplet, Huzooraa said, encapsulates the deep longing and concern that the Promised Messiahas had for the state of Islam, which ultimately led to
his divine appointment. Throughout his writings and gatherings, the Promised Messiahas passionately depicted the dire condition of the era and the urgent need for revival.
Fulfilment of prophecies and signs
Continuing his address, Huzooraa elaborated on the fulfilment of numerous prophecies concerning the Promised Messiah’sas advent. Huzooraa said that these prophecies, found in both Sunni and Shia texts, were meant to be fulfilled by a devoted follower of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa. One such prophecy speaks of the signs of the advent of the Mahdi, including the occurrence of solar and lunar eclipses during Ramadan and the outbreak of a severe plague.
Huzooraa explained that these signs were destined to manifest at a time when the Promised Messiahas would face mockery, just as Jesusas was mocked before similar signs appeared in his time. The prophecies indicated that these signs would serve as a warning and as evidence of the truth of the Messiah and Mahdi’s claim.
Huzooraa recounted that these signs indeed manifested, testifying to the truth of the Promised Messiah’sas claim. In 1894 and 1895, during the month of Ramadan, the solar and lunar eclipses occurred according to the prophesied dates, both in the East and the West. These celestial events served as signs of warning and became a means of guidance for many. Additionally, the plague that broke out in India stayed for a significant time, leading many to enter the bai‘at of the Promised Messiahas
Huzooraa further mentioned that even today, sincere and devoted individuals, upon hearing about these prophecies and witnessing their fulfilment, do not hesitate to accept the truth and enter into the bai‘at of the Promised Messiahas. As a result, every year, thousands upon thousands of people join the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat.
The power of Promised Messiah’sas arguments
Huzooraa then presented one such incident: A missionary from Ghana reported that they visited Techiman, Ghana, and a nearby area. During their visit, they engaged with
the local imam, who allowed them to lead the Friday prayer. In his sermon, the missionary addressed the death of Jesusas, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Upon revisiting the area, they again led the Jummah prayer and discussed the signs of the Promised Messiah, particularly the solar and lunar eclipses. After the prayer, 15 families openly expressed their satisfaction with the Jamaat’s arguments. They all took the bai‘at and embraced Ahmadiyyat. Consequently, a new local chapter of the Jamaat was established in that area.
Huzooraa highlighted that this incident exemplifies the sincerity of those who, upon hearing the signs, immediately take the bai‘at. However, he also noted that those who oppose out of mere enmity have no remedy.
Reflecting on the approach of the Promised Messiahas, Huzooraa emphasised that he always spoke with reason, logic, and solid arguments. This tradition continues within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, as taught to us by the Promised Messiahas. In contrast, Huzooraa pointed out that many Muslim clerics resort to violence, calling for the killing and beating of Ahmadis, as they lack rational arguments to support their stance.
Huzooraa mentioned that the Promised Messiahas acknowledged the right of people to ask questions. They may ask, “Why should we accept this claim, and what are the arguments, evidence, and proofs supporting it?”
In response, the Promised Messiahas explained that the time, place, and circumstances of his advent align precisely with the indications found in the Quran and Hadith. The specific signs associated with his coming, both heavenly and earthly, were fulfilled at the appointed time, in the designated location, and through his person. Moreover, Allah granted him the knowledge and qualities foretold to be connected with the true Messiah and Mahdi. To further reassure the believers, the Promised Messiahas presented heavenly signs as evidence.
Need for a reformer
Huzooraa pointed out that many among the ummah acknowledge the need for a reformer in this era. Despite this recognition, they fail to accept the reformer sent by God. Instead, they have reached
extreme levels of opposition against him, rejecting the very individual who has been divinely appointed to revive and reform the faith.
The Promised Messiahas once said:
“Once a Hindu gentleman whose name I do not recall came to see me in Qadian. He said he wanted to convene a religious conference and requested me to write an article about the beauties of my religion to be read out at the conference. At first, I demurred but he insisted that I must write. I know that I cannot do anything on my own strength—indeed, I do not have any strength at all. I can’t speak unless God makes me speak, nor can I see anything unless He makes me see. I, therefore, prayed to God that He may reveal to me a discourse that may triumph over all the speeches of that conference. After this supplication, I found that a strength had been breathed into me. I felt in me a stirring of this heavenly power.
“My friends who were present at the time know that I did not write any preliminary draft of this discourse. Whatever I wrote, I wrote extempore. And I was writing with such speed and haste that the copyist found it hard to keep pace with me. When I finished writing the discourse, I received this revelation from God Almighty:
“‘The paper has been declared supreme.’ Thus, when that dissertation was read out in that conference, the audience was in an ecstasy while it was being read out, and applause was heard from every direction, so much so that the Hindu gentleman who presided over the conference could not help exclaiming, ‘This paper has been declared supreme over all others!’
“An English newspaper, the Civil and Military Gazette, which is published from Lahore, also published its testimony that the paper transcended all others. About twenty Urdu newspapers also gave the same testimony. With the exception of a few prejudiced individuals, it was on every tongue in that conference that this paper had triumphed.
“To this day there are hundreds of people who continue to give the same testimony. Thus, with the testimony of every sect, as well as of the English newspapers, my prophecy, ‘The paper transcended all others’, was fulfilled. This challenge was like the one that Prophet Musaas [Moses] had to take up against the sorcerers, for in this conference exponents of different schools of thought delivered speeches about their respective faiths. Some of them were Christians, some were Hindus of Sanatan Dharam or Aryah Samaj, some were Brahmus, some were Sikhs, and some were Muslims who oppose us. All of them had turned their staffs into imaginary snakes, but when God unleashed the rod of Islam’s truth against them in the form of a pure and profound discourse, it turned into a python and devoured all of them. To this day people are all praise for the discourse that had issued from my mouth. کل
[So Allah be praised for all this].” (The Philosophy of Divine Revelation, pp. 354-355)
Huzooraa then spoke about the lasting impact of the Promised Messiah’sas lecture, “The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam.”
He mentioned that this work continues to be appreciated and acknowledged, not only in the Promised Messiah’sas time but even today. The lecture’s profound insights into Islamic teachings inspire many, with numerous people writing letters about how it has moved and improved their lives.
Bai‘at through The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam in Mali
Huzooraa then shared a faith-inspiring incident from Mali. A man visited an Ahmadiyya bookstall in 2022, where he acquired the book The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam. After studying it, he was convinced of the greatness of its author and began praying for guidance. He then had a dream in which he was told that the book’s author was the true guide for Islam in this era. Without any prior connection to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, he couldn’t pursue further research at the time. However, when he encountered the bookstall again this year, he was overjoyed, embraced the missionary, and expressed his desire to pledge allegiance to the Promised Messiahas Huzooraa then narrated some further incidents.
Bai‘at
in Burkina Faso
In Dori, Burkina Faso, due to security concerns, a missionary focused on spreading the message of Ahmadiyyat in the city. As a result, 37 individuals accepted Ahmadiyyat. Among them was a businessman deeply impressed by The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam, stating he would gladly pay a significant sum for such a valuable book. This incident highlights the profound impact of the Promised Messiah’sas literature on people, leading them to embrace Ahmadiyyat.
Tanzania
In Tanzania, a member of parliament, after engaging in discussions with an Ahmadi missionary and studying the literature, including the Swahili translation of Kashtie-Nuh, eventually pledged allegiance to the Promised Messiahas along with his wife. They both expressed that their decision was made with full conviction, free from any external pressure, driven solely by the satisfaction of their hearts.
Acknowledgement of truth in India
At a book fair in India, a Muslim member of parliament privately acknowledged the truth of Ahmadiyyat after a discussion with an Ahmadi missionary on the death of Jesusas, as explained in the Holy Quran. Although he admitted that Ahmadiyyat is based on the truth and that Muslims should learn from Ahmadis, he confessed that political constraints prevented him from publicly supporting the Jamaat due to the fear of losing votes and being labelled as an infidel.
The Promised Messiahas said: “God Almighty has granted me thousands of such signs, which result in
This Week in History
A glimpse into the rich history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat
30 Aug - 5 Sept
30 August 1927: On this day, a session of the Unity Conference of Hindu and Muslim leaders was held at the Council Chamber in Shimla (the Summer Capital of British India), where Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra delivered a speech, wherein he shed light on the methods for achieving peace between all communities and advocated the protection of the economic rights of the Muslims.
For more details, see “Communal harmony, Unity Conference and Muslim rights: Hazrat Muslehe-Maud’s 1927 visit to Shimla”, at alhakam.org (24 February 2023, pp. 13-16).
30 August 1935: The Ahrar were spreading false notions against Ahmadiyyat and attributing certain beliefs to the Jamaat. When this act of theirs went out of bounds, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra challenged the Ahrar for a mubahala (prayer duel), for the sake of Islam and its Holy Foundersa during his Friday Sermon on this day. (Khutbat-e-Mahmud, Vol. 16, p. 532)
30 August 1970: On this day, addressing Ahmadi doctors, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh narrated the details of the Nusrat Jehan (Leap Forward) scheme, and encouraged them to offer their services in Africa under this scheme. On this very day, before this ceremony, an important meeting of Ahmadi doctors took place in which the ‘World Ahmadiyya Medical Association’ was established. Colonel Dr Ataullah Sahib was appointed as its president. (Daily Al Fazl, Rabwah, 2 September 1970, p. 8)
31 August 1947: On this day, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra migrated from Qadian to Lahore after a silent prayer at 1 pm. Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmadra was appointed Amir-e-Muqami. Hazrat Muslehe-Maudra arrived in Lahore after 4 pm along with other members of the Promised Messiah’sas family. He stayed in Ratan Bagh.
The details of a harrowing first-
hand account of the violence and terror that afflicted the town of Qadian and its surrounding areas following the partition of the subcontinent can be read in the daily diary of Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmadra. Kept between March 1947 and February 1948, the diary meticulously records the terrible sectarian violence.

a captivating belief in the existence of Allah Almighty. Such a large number of my community is present here today. Who from among them has not witnessed at least a few signs of this nature? If you wish, many hundreds more could testify to the same. Have not a large number from among the godly and holy and those who are righteous and pious, and who possess intelligence and insight in every respect, and who are well-established in terms of employment, been satisfied? Have these people not witnessed such things which could never be within the power of man to achieve? If these people are questioned, each and every one of them will declare themselves to be the first of those who bear witness in this respect. Is it possible for people from all walks of life, which include the erudite, scholars, physicians, doctors, merchants, saints, spiritual leaders, lawyers and respected officials, to proclaim that they have witnessed so many heavenly signs with their own eyes if they were first not fully satisfied themselves? And when such people do actually declare what I have said—and anyone who denies this fact is free to confirm it—then in view of this collective testimony, one ought to reflect over the conclusion that a seeker of truth will arrive upon, if in fact, they are truly a seeker of the truth. At the very least, an uninformed person can appreciate without a shadow of doubt that if this group of people composed of the well-educated, wise, and well to do, and those who do not depend on anyone financially, by the grace of Allah, were not perfectly certain about my claim, and if they were not fully satisfied in respect of me, why would they leave their homes, and bear the separation of their loved ones, to live with me here in straitened circumstances as wayfarers? Why are they forever devoted and fondly ready to support my community financially in accordance with their individual circumstances?
“All things have an appointed time. Spring arrives at its appointed time and so does the monsoon season. There is no one who can thwart the plans of God.” (Malfuzat [English], Vol. 2, p. 34)
Christians accept Islam in CongoBrazzaville
In Congo-Brazzaville, a Christian priest visited an Ahmadiyya mosque, expressing concerns about how Islam Ahmadiyyat’s teachings were challenging his congregation’s beliefs. After engaging in a discussion with an Ahmadi missionary, the priest was unable to answer key questions about Jesusas, as per Islamic teachings. Consequently, six individuals accompanying the priest accepted Islam Ahmadiyyat, acknowledging the logical and rational superiority of Islamic teachings over Christianity. Although the priest admitted the strength of Islamic teachings, he felt compelled to remain with the church. A significant number of people in the area have now joined the Jamaat, establishing a new local chapter.
Expansion of Ahmadiyyat in Guinea-Conakry
In Guinea-Conakry, a new mosque or mission house was inaugurated. Despite the many edicts of disbelief directed against the Jamaat, Allah continues to open new paths for the spread of Islam Ahmadiyyat, allowing the Jamaat to grow and establish itself in new regions.
Transformation of a former opponent in France
In France, an Ahmadi introduced his friend, who belonged to the Salafi sect, to the teachings of Ahmadiyyat. Initially, the friend reacted with intense anger and decided to sever ties with the Ahmadi due to their differing beliefs, particularly regarding the death of Prophet Jesusas
However, over time, this individual began to personally study various Islamic literature, seeking answers from different sects and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. He found that the explanations provided by Ahmadis, particularly from Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud’sra Tafsir-e-Kabir, brought clarity and satisfaction, unlike the confusing and ambiguous responses from other sects. After years of in-depth study, he grew closer to the Jamaat and eventually decided to perform the bai‘at and embrace Ahmadiyyat. This incident highlights how sincere seekers of truth, free from arrogance and stubbornness, are guided by Allah to accept Ahmadiyyat.
Huzooraa then narrated numerous other faith-inspiring incidents of how Allah guided people to Islam Ahamdiyyat.
The Promised Messiahas said:
“I shall proclaim it time and time again—the declaration of which I cannot refrain from—that I am the very one who was sent at the appointed time for the reformation of mankind so that the Faith might be firmly planted afresh within the hearts. I am sent in the same manner as the one [i.e. Jesusas] who had been sent after the man of God, Kalimullah [the one who converses with Allah; i.e., Mosesas], and whose soul was raised to Heaven after a great deal of suffering during the reign of Herod. Thus, when the second Kalimullah [i.e. Muhammadsa]—who is, in fact, the foremost of them all and is the Chief of all Prophets—came to punish other ‘pharaohs’, and about whom it was stated:
[“Verily, We have sent to you a Messenger, who is a witness over you, even as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh.” (Surah al-Muzzammil, 73:16).]
“Then he—who in his mission was the likeness of the first Kalim, albeit superior to him in rank—was also given a promise of [a follower of his coming in] the likeness of the Messiah. And that likeness of the Messiah [i.e. Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas]—bearing the power, spirit, and unique character of the Messiah Son of Mary—descended from Heaven at a time that resembles that very age [of the first Messiah] and after nearly the same duration of time that existed from the time of the first Kalim up to the time of the Messiah Son of Mary; that is, the fourteenth century. That descent was spiritual in nature just as the descent of [spiritually] perfect people occurs for the reformation of mankind after their
[spiritual] ascent. And he descended in an age resembling all aspects of the very age in which the Messiah Son of Mary descended so that it might be a Sign for those who reflect.” (The Victory of Islam, pp. 10-11)
The Promised Messiahas also aid:
“Back down and fear His wrath, and understand with certainty that you have sealed your fate with your corrupt actions. If God were truly with you, you would not need to resort to so much deceit. […]
“Do you not see that while you diminish, we continue to grow? If you were truly standing on the side of truth, would your outcome in this contest have been as it is now?” (Nuzul-ul-Masih, Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 18, p. 409)
Concluding remarks and prayers
In his final remarks, Huzooraa emphasised that Allah’s divine help and support remain steadfastly with the Promised Messiahas, guiding hearts towards acceptance of his message and ensuring that the opposition falters in its attempts to hinder the progress of Ahmadiyyat. This growing acceptance places a significant responsibility on the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat to continuously reform themselves and strive to embody the teachings of Islam in a way that truly reflects their commitment to the bai‘at of the Promised Messiahas. Huzooraa reminded the Jamaat that their good actions serve as silent tabligh, inspiring countless individuals through their exemplary conduct.
He urged every Ahmadi to make a sustained effort to be a living embodiment of Islamic teachings, thereby contributing to the fulfilment of the Promised Messiah’sas mission. Huzooraa prayed that Allah enables all Ahmadis to achieve this noble objective.
Huzooraa also expressed his prayers for the safety of all those who attended the Jalsa Salana Germany 2024, which had a gathering of approximately 45,000 participants, asking Allah to grant them a safe return home and to protect them from any harm or disturbance. He also urged prayers for those Ahmadis facing persecution and restrictions, asking Allah to grant them freedom.
Reflecting on a recent court decision about Ahmadis, Huzooraa cautioned Ahmadis against harsh analyses and critiques of individuals, stressing that Ahmadis need not rely on any human judgements but should place their trust solely in Allah, the One true God. He encouraged Ahmadis to engage in sincere prayer and worship, trusting that Allah would bring about relief and ease while confounding the enemies of the Jamaat. Finally, Huzooraa called upon the Jamaat to pray for the general state of the world, which is teetering on the brink of disaster due to its failure to recognise its Creator. He prayed that Allah grants wisdom to the world and protects Ahmadis from the devastating effects of war. Huzooraa then led the gathering in silent prayer to conclude the session. This was followed by choral poems, presented by various groups in their respective languages.

Foster taqwa to enter the invincible fortress of Allah’s protection
Huzoor’s address to Ahmadi women at Jalsa Salana Germany 2024
On 24 August 2024, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaa arrived at Masroor Hall shortly after 10:30 GMT to address Lajna Ima’illah on the occasion of Jalsa Salana Germany from Islamabad, Tilford, UK.
To commence the formal session, Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa called Samina Tahir Sahiba to recite a portion of the Holy Quran: Surah al-Mu’minun, Ch.23: V.1-11, followed by its Urdu translation. An Urdu poem written by Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra was then presented by Nida Mansoor Ali Sahiba.
Huzooraa then called Secretary Umure-Talibaat to announce the names of those female students who had achieved academic excellence over the year.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaa, began his address by expressing his appreciation for the strong attendance, despite some challenges posed by traffic. He prayed for the safety and spiritual enrichment of all participants.
In his address, Huzooraa emphasised the paramount importance of taqwa (righteousness), highlighting its frequent mention in the Holy Quran.
Signifinace of taqwa
Addressing newlywed couples, Huzooraa stressed that taqwa should be the guiding principle in their lives. He explained that righteousness and the fear of Allah are essential for maintaining a harmonious and blessed marital relationship. This, he said, is the foundation upon which a strong, pious family is built, and it is integral to the mission of the Promised Messiahas, who aimed to instil these virtues in his followers.
Huzooraa reminded the Jamaat of their obligation to fulfil the pledge of allegiance (bai‘at) they have made to the Promised Messiahas. He urged members of the Jamaat to continuously strive to elevate their standards of taqwa, resisting the temptations of materialism and worldly desires. He stressed that the Promised Messiahas envisioned a high standard of taqwa within his Jamaat, one that would lead to both spiritual and worldly success.
Huzooraa said:
“In the Holy Quran, the importance of taqwa is emphasised in numerous places because, without it, a Muslim man or woman cannot truly follow the teachings of Islam or establish a genuine connection with Allah.
“The significance of taqwa in our
personal and social lives is highlighted by the fact that at the time of nikah, when a man and woman enter into a new phase of life and two families establish relations, the verses of the Quran that the Holy Prophetsa instructed to be recited at that moment mention taqwa five times. This underscores the importance of taqwa in family life and the well-being of future generations, both in this world and the hereafter.
“Thus, righteousness is the key to improving our lives at every level. We, who claim to follow the teachings of the Promised Messiahas, must remember that he came to instil righteousness in us and to guide us to adhere to the true teachings of Islam. It is our duty to strive continually to elevate our standards of righteousness to fulfil the true essence of our commitment.”
The Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, said:
“In the Holy Quran, the emphasis on taqwa and righteousness is paramount because it empowers one to avoid all evils and motivates one to pursue all virtues. The reason behind this emphasis is that righteousness serves as a safeguard for a person in every aspect of life and acts as a fortress protecting one from all kinds of tribulations.”
Huzooraa emphasised the importance of fulfilling the rights owed to both Allah and His creation, highlighting the integral role of both external and internal faculties in achieving spiritual excellence. He urged that every part of the human body – eyes, ears, hands, feet, as well as the heart and other internal faculties – must be used appropriately and in accordance with divine guidance. Misuse of these faculties not only leads to spiritual harm but also violates the principles of taqwa
Huzooraa further explained that taqwa, often referred to as the “garment of righteousness” [libas at-taqwa] in the Holy Quran, encompasses the fulfilment of all rights due to Allah and His creation. This spiritual garment protects the believer from Satan’s attacks and fosters spiritual beauty and excellence. He stressed that taqwa is the foundation upon which all spiritual and social responsibilities are built, and it requires the believer to meticulously observe even the most subtle aspects of righteousness.
Huzooraa also noted that the foundation of society lies in the unity and harmony between man and woman within the marital relationship. When this relationship is grounded in taqwa, it not only strengthens
the bond between the couple but also ensures that their children are raised with the same values. Without taqwa in the parents, it is impossible to instil taqwa in the next generation, thereby affecting the moral fabric of society.
Huzooraa highlighted the issue of incorrect statements about gender that are prevalent in society today, emphasising the harm they cause to future generations. He urged every Ahmadi to guard themselves against these misconceptions.
Taqwa is the key to peace
Citing the Promised Messiahas, Huzooraa reiterated that taqwa is the key to peace and security. He explained that every woman naturally desires to live in safety, free from anxieties and difficulties. This innate desire for security, he noted, can only be fulfilled through adopting taqwa
Huzooraa explained that the Promised Messiahas taught that the path to true
peace and security lies in adopting taqwa
He assured that those who become God’s true servants will find that God, in turn, becomes theirs. Such individuals, even while they sleep, are protected by Allah. This divine protection is an impenetrable refuge that no worldly force can breach. However, the condition for attaining this peace and security, as laid out by the Quran and further explained by the Promised Messiahas, is the adoption of taqwa
Huzooraa emphasised that achieving peace requires the fear of Allah, the avoidance of immoral acts, and the consistent practice of virtuous deeds. He urged every Ahmadi man and woman to make it their goal to find God and secure His protection by walking steadfastly on the path of taqwa. This involves saving oneself from all forms of evil and embracing all that is good.
Quoting the Promised Messiahas, Huzooraa stressed that taqwa is the strength that enables one to avoid bad and immoral
deeds. Once a person attains this strength, they possess the vital ingredient needed to enter the impenetrable fortress guarded by Allah. In this state, Satan cannot penetrate, and the person is safeguarded from all forms of immorality.
Huzooraa said, in his book, Noah’s Ark, the Promised Messiahas said:
“If you become devoted to God, then rest assured that God is truly yours. While you sleep, He will remain awake for your sake.”
A spiritual ‘amulet’
Huzooraa said:
“This should be the mindset of every Ahmadi man and woman—that they must strive earnestly to tread the path of righteousness in order to attain Allah’s pleasure and enter the fortress of His protection. They must avoid every evil and embrace every virtue, keeping in mind the words of the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, that taqwa provides the strength to avoid all forms of wrongdoing. When this strength is acquired, a person gains a priceless ‘amulet’, a guarantee of safety. It is as if they enter a fortified stronghold guarded by God Himself, into which no evil can penetrate. Within this protection, a person can be safeguarded from many trials.
“This is why yesterday I advised the recitation of durood sharif
and it is something everyone should make a habit of reciting.”
True beauty
Huzooraa explained that people, especially women, appreciate beauty and strive for it through makeup and beautiful attire. However, he pointed out that many women, particularly in Western society, remain unaware of their true inner beauty. Huzooraa emphasised that an Ahmadi woman must recognise and embody this true beauty, not just for herself but also to demonstrate it to society at large.
Huzooraa explained that true beauty cannot be attained through external means such as makeup or inappropriate clothing, as often promoted by Western norms. He asserted that this superficial ‘beauty’ does not truly represent a person’s excellence or worth. True beauty, he stated, comes from within and is aligned with spiritual and moral values.
Huzooraa emphasised that it is the duty of an Ahmadi woman to reform herself and to initiate a broader reformation within society. Central to this reformation is adhering to the teachings of Allah, which include observing hijab and maintaining modesty in dress. Huzooraa stressed that a woman’s beauty is not diminished by wearing the hijab; in fact, true beauty is expressed through the modesty and chastity that the hijab represents.
Huzooraa acknowledged the pressures from Western society that often encourage women to forsake modesty in favour of socalled ‘freedom’ and ‘beauty’. He cautioned that true beauty emerges not from exposing oneself, but rather, comes from following the divine commandments. Ahmadi women must strive to excel in virtues, performing good deeds, and avoiding immorality,
despite societal pressures.
Huzooraa said:
“Therefore, an Ahmadi woman today should not only embrace her true adornment but also help others in the society understand what a woman’s true beauty and adornment really are. Once this is understood, a woman’s beauty and dignity will be greatly enhanced […].
“An Ahmadi woman has the responsibility to not only reform herself but also to actively work towards the betterment of others. It is essential for Ahmadi women to always remember that their true adornment comes from following the commandments of God. When Allah has commanded that women observe purdah, maintain modesty, and dress with decency, these practices must be adhered to because they are divine commands.
“True adornment is not achieved by abandoning purdah and modesty, as influenced by Western culture, which is increasingly affecting some of our women today. Real beauty is found in wearing the garment of righteousness, not in exposing oneself. This garment of taqwa is granted only to those who strive to fulfil their religious commitments and responsibilities with all their abilities and strengths.”
Libas at-taqwa and proper use of ears, eyes and the tongue
Huzooraa likened the immoralities of society to thorny plants that can tear at a person’s spiritual clothing and harm their true beauty. He urged continuous engagement in istighfar, prayer, and supplication to protect oneself from these societal temptations. By doing so, Huzooraa advised, one can remain within the impenetrable fortress of Allah’s protection, safe from the dangers that lie in wait on the path of life.
Huzooraa emphasised the importance of always wearing the garb of taqwa, or the covering of righteousness, as a distinctive quality of Ahmadi women and girls. He urged that this be attained by all, highlighting that the Promised Messiahas has instructed the proper use of all body parts—such as the ears, eyes, and tongue— in accordance with the pleasure of Allah.
Huzooraa expressed concern over the increasing domestic disputes within society, often arising from the improper use of these faculties. He pointed out that men have been commanded to lower their gazes and avoid looking at unrelated [non-mahram] women, a command that is often neglected. Similarly, women have been advised to maintain modest and chaste clothing, which is sometimes overlooked.
Huzooraa stressed that if both men and women adhere to these guidelines and utilise their eyes, tongues, and ears in a modest and appropriate manner, many of the immoral sins that lead to distrust and discord in the home would not even arise. By doing so, the atmosphere of trust within the home can be preserved, and societal harmony can be maintained.
The Promised Messiahas said:
“Ensure that all parts of your body, i.e., the apparent organs, fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to them. It is the duty of every man and woman to align the use of their ears, eyes, tongue, and every other organ with the pleasure of Allah the Almighty and to use them according to His
guidance.”
Importance of trust
Huzooraa explained that if couples use these faculties with care and consideration for one another, it would prevent quarrels and arguments from arising, thereby fostering an atmosphere of trust. This trust is foundational, as it leads to an environment of love and compassion, which is essential for strengthening marital bonds and beautifying society as a whole.
Huzooraa further highlighted the importance of caring for each other’s relations, particularly in-laws. He stated that Allah has commanded, with reference to taqwa, that husbands and wives should care for each other’s relationships and avoid speaking ill of one another’s families. Doing so only increases grudges and leads to conflicts. Improving relations with in-laws is critical not only for the peace of the household but also for the overall beautification of society.
Huzooraa reiterated that trust is the bedrock of a marital relationship. If trust is compromised, the relationship—originally built on love—can quickly disintegrate. He advised that couples should not allow their hearts to harbour wrongful thoughts but should instead fill them with thoughts of God. This approach would prevent problems from arising and keep Satan from sowing discord in the home.
Huzooraa stressed that a true believer must strive to fulfil both their bond with God and their bond with one another. He reminded us that the Promised Messiahas taught that one cannot fulfil the rights of God without first fulfilling the rights of humanity. Until one fulfils the rights due to God’s creation, they cannot truly fulfill the rights of God, nor will their supplications be accepted.
In the context of fulfilling the rights due to God’s creation, Huzooraa emphasised that the marital relationship holds the utmost importance. The mutual rights of husband and wife form the foundational unit for the next generation. Trust and fulfilling each other’s rights are critical responsibilities that every true believer must discharge. Allah the Almighty has given special emphasis to these rights in the context of marital relationships, as highlighted in the verses recited during the nikah ceremony, which repeatedly draw attention to the path of taqwa
Huzooraa said that fulfilling these marital rights, as taught by the Promised Messiahas, is essential for fulfilling the rights due to God and society. Every believing man and woman must remember that their pledges will only be truly fulfilled when they strengthen their marital relationships, becoming as if one united spirit, and maintain complete confidence and trust in one another. A pure marital bond is meant to bring purity, peace, and tranquillity, and it is the responsibility of every believer to ensure that these rights are fulfilled.
Parents’ responsibilities regarding children
Huzooraa emphasised that the proper upbringing of children requires the parents to first reform themselves. A pious attitude and commitment to taqwa are essential
for parents to raise their children in the right manner. The mere act of having children does not elevate one to the status of being the best of creation; rather, it is the conscious effort to train and guide children in righteousness that does. One must tread on the path of taqwa, fulfil mutual rights, and recognise the purpose of creation is to become a true servant of God. This not only means worshipping God but also fully obeying His commands and fulfilling the rights of both God and humanity.
Huzooraa explained that by adopting taqwa, believers can achieve peace and security in their lives and the lives of their children. When a household is built on these principles, it becomes an impenetrable fortress where God’s refuge and protection are assured. Children raised in such an environment will not only be born but will also grow into pious individuals who pray for their parents and bring honour to their families. On the other hand, neglecting these principles can lead to children becoming lost in the world, potentially ruining society and bringing humiliation to their parents and the Jamaat.
Huzooraa urged every Ahmadi man and woman to strive for self-reformation, to become exemplary role models, and to foster a strong connection with God. This, in turn, will help them raise their children in a manner that fulfils the rights of God and increases spirituality. Huzooraa said that even one righteous person can bring about the salvation of an entire city. Therefore, Huzooraa advised against being influenced by the world and instead urged everyone to emulate taqwa, which will result in their children becoming a source of goodness and honour.
Respecting each other’s relatives
Huzooraa again addressed common domestic and marital issues, particularly the complaints that arise when husbands and wives do not respect each other’s parents. He emphasised that disrespecting in-laws can spread disorder in society, and therefore, it is an Islamic injunction to care for one’s partner’s relations. The Holy Prophet Muhammadsa understood human nature best and thus admonished husbands and wives to take special care of their mutual relations. By developing love between families, societal peace is achieved. Huzooraa advised that from the first day of marriage, both husband and wife must develop the mentality that their relationship is not just between two individuals but also between their respective families. Mutual respect and reverence for each other’s relations are crucial. If this approach is embedded in society, arguments and disputes would not arise, and the instances of divorce within the Jamaat would decrease.
Honesty in marriage
Huzooraa stressed that to establish trust in relationships, one must never lie. He highlighted the importance of honesty, especially in the context of marriage. The verses recited during the nikah ceremony emphasise speaking the straightforward and right word [qawl–e-sadid], which is the essence of taqwa. By sharing everything
Fulfilling the pledge, strengthening faith, and enhancing moral conduct during Jalsa
Huzoor inaugurates Jalsa Salana
Germany 2024
On 23 August 2024, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaa arrived in Mubarak Mosque, Islamabad, Tilford, UK and delivered the Friday Sermon.
At the outset, Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa said:
“Alhamdulillah, the Jalsa Salana Germany is starting today. The Jamaat in Germany wanted me to be present at the Jalsa, but human limitations, including health concerns, are always a factor. For this reason, following the doctor’s advice, the Germany visit had to be suspended at the last moment. It was then decided that I should participate in the Jalsa programmes in Germany via MTA from here and address those attending the Jalsa in Germany from here as well. This will also be possible only with the grace of Allah the Almighty, so please pray that Allah grants the ability to do so.”
Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa then expressed gratitude to God Almighty that He had granted us such means that he could communicate with those attending Jalsa in Germany, and stated that through this means, around 60 to 70 percent of the gap caused by not being able to attend the Jalsa personally would be bridged. Huzooraa prayed that may Allah bless the Jalsa, its arrangements, and help the attendees to take full benefit from it.
Huzooraa highlighted that in the past, Jalsa Germany used to take place in a hall, but due to the change in venue, there may be some challenges. He instructed the workers to do their best with a spirit of serving and always demonstrate good manners. Every volunteer in every department should interact with guests cheerfully, carry out their duties with prayers, and work with the mindset that they are serving the guests of the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him. No matter the circumstances, they should maintain high standards of conduct and continue serving.
Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa advised that guests should also keep the purpose of the Jalsa in mind and strive to achieve this purpose over these three days, enduring any discomfort they may encounter. Huzooraa said:
“The purpose of the Jalsa that I outlined during the Jalsa Salana UK remains the same, and this is the goal we must strive to achieve wherever the Jalsa is held.
“Always remember that among the blessings of Allah, this is a great favour bestowed upon us through the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him – that once a year we gather to increase our spiritual and moral standards. We organise programmes that bring us closer to Allah and increase us in righteousness.
“Spend these days with the intention of setting high standards of moral conduct and fulfilling the rights of one another. We should foster love, affection, and connection among ourselves, resolve any grievances, and strive to seek the pleasure of Allah. We must protect ourselves from all kinds of frivolities. These are the very things that the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, expected from us.”
Huzooraa instructed that we should strive to build a strong relationship with Allah the Almighty and try our level best to fulfil the rights of His Creation, and put in every effort to elevate our level of righteousness.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa said:
“It is a great blessing from Allah upon us that He granted us the strength to accept the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him. However, if after accepting him and pledging allegiance to him, we are not striving to achieve the objectives of spiritual progress and attaining high moral standards, then we are not fulfilling the true purpose of our pledge. These are things that everyone participating [in Jalsa] should always remember.”
The Promised Messiahas said:
“O’ all those who consider yourselves to be part of my Jamaat, you will only be counted as such in the heavens when you truly tread the paths of righteousness.”
Huzooraa said:
“This is the very purpose of attending the Jalsa and becoming a true Ahmadi, as outlined by the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him. Every Ahmadi should participate in the Jalsa with the intention of cultivating these qualities within themselves.
“Take full advantage of the environment Allah has provided for you and strive during these days to purify yourself from all worldly impurities. Purify yourself with the intention that in the future, you will continue to keep yourself free from these impurities, remain virtuous, and always strive to give precedence to faith over worldly matters, utilising all your abilities to achieve this.”
Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa stated that the remembrance and mention of Allah should be constantly kept in mind by every Ahmadi, and the effort should always be to ensure that every action is done for the sake of Allah’s pleasure. Every Ahmadi should avoid anything that Allah has prohibited, always keeping in mind that every movement and stillness is observed for the sake of Allah the Almighty. Thus, no action should be undertaken that could cause the displeasure of God.
Huzooraa said:
“Thus today, let us make this pledge, that we will make every possible effort to fulfil the pledge of allegiance we have made to the Promised Messiahas. Following his teachings and while fulfilling his mission, we will strive with all our might to bring faith to the highest level, rather than lowering it and becoming entangled in worldly pursuits. We will always adhere to the teachings of the Holy Quran so that we may be counted among the best of communities, the one for which Allah has kept His divine favours. We pledge that we will establish good examples through all our actions. We commit that this faith and these teachings will forever be a part of our hearts and our deeds, insha-
Allah, and we will always keep our tongues engaged in the remembrance of Allah as commanded by Him, where He says, ‘O believers, remember Allah in abundance.’”
Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa said that through the Jalsa, Allah has granted us the opportunity to increase in the remembrance of Him, to focus more on our acts of worship, and to elevate our standards of righteousness. As the Promised Messiahas stated, through this, Allah will manifest His grace and favours towards us in a tangible way. Therefore, by increasing in righteousness, Allah’s grace and favour will become evident, and one way to achieve this is by fulfilling the rights of Allah, which is obtained through worship and the remembrance of Him.
Huzooraa said:
“A sincere Ahmadi and a true Ahmadi should deeply reflect on and keep in mind at all times that every phrase and every word that the Promised Messiahas uttered while advising his Community should be thoughtprovoking. No matter how much we claim to be Ahmadis, if Allah, the Lord of the Worlds,

openly between husband and wife, and by removing misunderstandings and doubts, trust is maintained, and the marital bond is strengthened.
Huzooraa advised that even before a marriage proposal, any weaknesses in the prospective husband or wife should be clearly and transparently communicated. This ensures that no problems arise after marriage. Upholding honesty and truthfulness is essential for maintaining peace in society and for building strong marital relationships.
Fulfilling pledges and promises
Huzooraa reminded Ahamdis that fulfilling pledges and promises is a basic and foundational requirement in all relationships, particularly in marital matters. Ahmadi men and women should lead their lives in a way that they are always following the path of taqwa, fulfilling their pledges and promises. This foundation is also crucial for fulfilling the pledge of bai‘at with the Promised Messiahas, which requires taking care of one another, upholding the truth, and fostering love, harmony, and

has not included us in that list, then our claim to being an Ahmadi is worthless, and our purpose in attending these gatherings is in vain. Therefore, during these days, pray earnestly, strengthen your relationship with Allah, engage in the remembrance of Him, and continue to dispel the darkness within your heart, removing all forms of spiritual ignorance.”
Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa said:
“In this regard, I would like to suggest that there is a dream of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh in which an elder advised that every member of the Jamaat, i.e., every adult, should recite this Durood Sharif 200 times a day:
“‘Holy is Allah and worthy of all praise, Holy is Allah, the Great. O Allah, send down Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon the progeny of Muhammad.’
“Those of middle age, from 15 to 25 years old, should recite it at least 100 times. Children should recite it at least 33 times. Little kids should be helped by their parents to recite it three or four times. Additionally, everyone should seek forgiveness (Istighfar) 100 times.
“I also include the following prayer in this:
brotherhood.
Huzooraa emphasised that the primary objective of every Ahmadi should be to follow taqwa and to please Allah. By doing so, they will always uphold the truth, take care of their in-laws, and fulfil their pledges. This focus on faith over materialism is essential for creating a beautiful society, which was the purpose of the advent of the Promised Messiahas and the pledge of allegiance made at his hand.
Huzooraa urged that by striving to perform good and virtuous deeds, boys and girls will prioritise faith and religion over materialistic pursuits. Relationships formed on the basis of faith are permanent and are built on the fear of God, rather than on external beauty and wealth. These relationships are made for the sake of pleasing God and will contribute to the creation of a beautiful society.
Huzooraa cautioned against emulating the world, which has fallen into the trap of materialism. Instead, he called for special attention towards self-reformation, as the weaknesses observed in society and relationships are increasing. To counter this trend, every effort must be made to follow the path of taqwa and to prioritise faith over worldly interests.
Conclusion and prayers
Huzooraa concluded his address with a prayer. He prayed that Allah the Almighty may grant the strength and guidance necessary to prevent Ahmadis from falling into immorality and to consistently walk on the path of taqwa. He prayed that Allah enables them to attain Allah’s pleasure and to focus on continuous self-reformation, seeking protection from all kinds of sins.
Huzooraa emphasised that achieving these goals would lead to the establishment of a beautiful and pure society, the very society for which the Promised Messiahas came into the world. He reminded the attendees that their commitment to the bai‘at to the Promised Messiahas was made willingly, and with it comes the responsibility to act upon the teachings of the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa, and the expectations of the Promised Messiahas
By adhering to these teachings, Huzooraa assured that Ahmadis will contribute to a global revolution, bringing the world closer to God and under the banner of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa. He prayed that Allah may enable Ahmadis to prioritise faith over worldly desires, to resist the allure of materialism, fulfilling the true purpose of
the Promised Messiah’sas mission.
Huzooraa prayed:
“May Allah enable us to stay away from all evils, to take firm steps on the path of righteousness, and to continuously strive for His pleasure by focusing on selfimprovement. Let us make every effort to protect ourselves from sins, both great and small.
“If we do this, we will be able to establish that pure and beautiful society for which the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, came and for which we have willingly pledged our allegiance to him. We were not compelled to join his fold; we did so by our own choice. Now that we have taken this pledge, it is imperative that we act upon the teachings that Allah has commanded us, those that the Promised Messiahas expected from us, those that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, repeatedly advised, and those that Allah has emphasised countless times in the Holy Quran, as I mentioned at the beginning.”
In the end, Huzooraa led everyone in silent prayer, after which nasirat presented some choral poems. Huzooraa then took leave and the session came to an end.
(Report prepared by Al Hakam)
“‘O my Lord everything serves You. So O my Lord, protect me and help me and have mercy on me.’
“Recite this prayer especially during these days and generally always. In the vision, it was shown [to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh] that if you do this, you will be in a fortress where even Satan cannot enter. The walls of this fortress are made of iron,
reaching up to the sky, leaving no openings for satan to attack.
“In these times, when Satan attempts to assault us from every direction, both as a Community and globally, the only means of protection is to emphasise prayers. This Durood Sharif and remembrance of Allah should become a permanent part of our lives, not just during the Jalsa but always. Everyone—children, adults, men, and women—should pay attention to this.”
Huzooraa highlighted that there will be many speeches at the Jalsa aimed at intellectual and spiritual development. We should listen to them attentively and seek Allah’s help to reform us, as we cannot achieve this by our own strength.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa advised us to pray in the following words:
“O my dear God, we implore Thee, save us from being lost. Grant us abundant participation in the noble purpose for which we have gathered here and bestow Your grace upon us, for without Your grace, we can do nothing. Purify our hearts so that we do not merely enjoy the intellectual and literary aspects of what we hear but become elevated in the training and spiritual standards that bring us closer to You. Let these become a part of our lives and enable us to act upon them and pass them on to our generations.”
Huzooraa said that when we earnestly seek to benefit from the Jalsa programmes with good intentions and strive to apply every lesson to our lives, only then will we be able to bring about the revolution expected by the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him. Otherwise, with the world currently immersed in trivialities, we cannot avoid this. It is a matter of great concern. Every Ahmadi should keep the purpose of their pledge in mind.
As we have been advised by the Promised Messiahas, we should strive to grow in brotherhood and work on resolving old grievances. We should not only avoid past conflicts but also work to end them and
eliminate personal animosities. If we have true faith in the Promised Messiahas, we should resolve conflicts and strengthen our bonds with one another. Muslims should not cause distress to one another, and we should engage in the remembrance of Allah with perfect faith.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa explained that sometimes, even disputes occur with officebearers during or after the Jalsa. However, if the purpose of the Jalsa remains clear in our minds, these grievances will also be resolved. The office-bearers should also work to remove personal pride and grievances and strive to fulfil the promise of brotherhood. If we consider ourselves the workers of the Khalifa and follow his instructions, only then we will become true bearers of the message of peace and security and bring about a revolution in the world, fulfilling the purpose of the Promised Messiah’sas advent.
Huzooraa reiterated that during these days, as the Promised Messiahas has advised, we should strive to examine ourselves and consider that we must avoid arrogance. It is this arrogance that led to the denial of the Prophets, and it is this arrogance that incites individuals against the system of the Jamaat. It is also this arrogance that causes us to
fight among ourselves, and we must make every effort to avoid it. Moreover, we should focus on developing genuine compassion for Allah’s Creation. People are impressed by our gatherings because Ahmadis, with humility, honour their guests. In this way, those who come to our events should take away positive impressions from every Ahmadi they encounter.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa said that during the days of Jalsa, we should create a peaceful environment through our words and actions, and apply this in our lives continually. Our goal should be to establish such an impact on the world that people recognise us as those who truly practice the teachings of Islam. It should be evident that it is the true teachings of Islam that can bring genuine peace and security to the world.
Towards the end, Huzooraa instructed every attendee of Jalsa Salana Germany to keep watch, stay alert, and be cautious of the surroundings.
Hazrat Amirul Momineenaa prayed for the protection and safety of all the participants, and also advised them to visit the exhibitions at Jalsa Salana Germany.

Between an airbase, volcanos and a monastery: A very personal angle of Jalsa Germany 2024
departure for Jalsa Germany.
For the last three decades or so, Jalsa Salana Germany has taken place just a month after the UK Jalsa Salana. There have been exceptions but this has always been the pattern. This year’s Jalsa Germany was even less than a month apart from Jalsa UK – falling just a few days short.
As Jalsa UK came to its end, the MTA team in Germany Studios went head-on into preparations for the three-day live transmission of Jalsa Germany. In doing so they took us, here at MTA International in London, with them. Without a break, we were wrapped up in programmes and other content to be broadcast during Jalsa Germany’s live transmission.
Unlike most of us, Huzoor’saa Jalsa UK does not end with the concluding session on the third day. He stays extremely busy meeting delegates and dignitaries who travel from all parts of the world to meet him and seek his guidance on various matters. The same remained the case this year and it seemed that Huzoor’saa Jalsa UK engagements might end only with his
While MTA Germany studios were occupied with preparations of what we call a rundown or a running order in television lingo, there came a news that kind of watered down the heightened enthusiasm – albeit for a few moments.
There came the news from Huzoor’saa office that upon medical advice, Huzooraa will no longer be undertaking the tour for Jalsa Germany. It wasn’t a very smooth pill to swallow for even us here in the UK, not to speak of the German Jamaat who had been eagerly looking forward to welcoming Huzooraa to their land.
The news came along with the instruction from Huzooraa that he would deliver all his addresses to the Jalsa via video link and that the three-day live broadcast would happen live, as usual, from the MTA studios on site.
The first thing I could think of was to pick up the phone and call the German studios as, in the wake of the changed situation, the entire running order would require a complete redressing. The running order, for the entirety of its duration, was woven around Huzoor’saa engagements
and activities during the Jalsa – what nazm to play when he arrives, what to say in the studios when the bai’at is about to start, what discussion to happen in the studio when he delivers such and such address, etc. It was as if the lynchpin had been pulled out of our plans.
When I called Arsalan Sahib, the person in charge of MTA Germany studios, he was ready with the team of presenters for this urgent meeting. I felt in their voices a note of sadness but in no way did this sadness carry even a hint of disappointment. The reasons for Huzooraa not travelling were spelled out by Huzooraa, and who would want him to ever put himself at any risk?
For an Ahmadi, nothing takes precedence over Huzoor’saa well-being – as they say, Ahmadis can die for it.
The team recovered from their melancholy in just a moment’s time and was up for taking up the challenge and making the Jalsa broadcast a success. Huzooraa, in the message to the German Jamaat, had said that he might not be physically present among them, but he would see them and their Jalsa through the lens of the camera. This left MTA with an
even greater responsibility as among their viewers now was the one viewer who they could not afford to disappoint.
As our discussion meandered on, I could feel in every member’s voice and tone, the zeal and enthusiasm of a soldier at the frontline, ready to take on the chin whatever challenge comes their way.
Since the wake of this change had not altered the duties of our department, I sought Huzoor’saa guidance and had my permission to travel to Germany renewed.
I arrived there on the Wednesday before Jalsa and was driven straight from Frankfurt airport to the place where I was to stay for the days of Jalsa Salana Germany. As we drove into the accommodation facility, my eyes met a sight that took my attention in a very strong grip. A few yards away stood a huge cathedral-like building with its towers and spires standing tall and high, giving the building a majestic height. It captured my attention so much that as soon as I settled in my room, I looked up the internet to find out more about the building.
It turned out the building was Laach Abbey, a monastery founded around
1093 CE. From the time it was built to the time that I had seen it – a few moments ago – lay an unimaginable stretch of a whole millennium. Benedict monks had worshipped in this building for a thousand years – praying to God for the return of Jesus Christ.
A millennium of prayers, and here they were today, with the Messiah’s community just a few hundred yards away from them. If they climbed to the top of the towers, they could have easily seen the white-tentcity that lay in the valley of Mendig, ready to profess and preach the message of Islam – the message rejuvenated by the Messiah of this age.
Caught in the awe of these thoughts, I fell asleep. The next morning, I got up quite early only to realise that the feeling of the monastery and the Jalsa site being so close apart had still not loosened its clutches on my imagination. As I tried to make the best use of the early morning through prayer, the monks just a few yards away from me kept coming to my mind who had worshipped right here for a thousand years. The thought of them praying for the return of Jesus Christ for all this time, and the presence of the community of the Promised Messiah assembling so very close to them fascinated me a great deal. The Messiah was at their doorstep.
I spent five days in Germany, and each one of those five mornings had a tint of this inspirational feeling. The monks, their worship, their desires for their Lord Jesus to return, and the millions of tears that must have been shed during prayers in this monastery were all elements of a romance that just wouldn’t let go of my mind.
But then the day would start and my responsibilities would carry me away from all this to the Jalsa Gah, where I would head straight to the MTA office and get on with the day’s work.
During the day, I would witness hundreds of faces in the Jalsa Gah shining with the light of faith. This shine had dimmed a few days ago when they had learnt that Hazrat Khalifatul Masih, their beloved Imam and master, was not going to be among them for the Jalsa. But then they realised that the technological advancement was there to serve the Promised Messiah and his Khalifa and, of course, his Jamaat too.
With this, the lost radiance returned to their faces and this group of faithful Ahmadi Muslims were happy, praying for the wellbeing and good health of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih.
Thus passed the three days of Jalsa and I was set to return to the UK the following morning. My work at MTA was over and I returned to my room. The sun still shone brightly in the afternoon of a German later-summer day. I was alone in the room and had no company, save the emptiness that attacks the heart when Jalsa comes to its end.
I got a call from Mateen Sahib, who was volunteering with the hospitality department, telling me that he would pick me up at half past nine the following morning to drop me at the airport.
Tired from the three-day marathon of work and with nothing much to do, I decided to call it a day. I lay in bed trying to learn about the beautiful valley where the Jalsa Salana Germany had happened.
The more I read, the farther I drifted from calling it a day – I read quite late into the night.
The new site of Germany’s Jalsa is on the outskirts of a town called Mendig, which lies in the scenic Eifel mountain range in the Rhineland-Palatinate area of Germany.
A couple of years before World War II, an airbase was built in Mendig for military training. It came in handy during the war to keep a check on the Allied forces trying to make their way through France into Germany.
In the spring of 1945, the American jets had taken control of the Mendig airbase as the Allied forces penetrated into Germany, before bringing her to her knees and finally taking control.
In the post-WWII years, as Germany recovered from its war-torn state, the airbase remained in use for military training. With a shrinking army, the airbase became defunct and is used today as an airfield for flying aficionados.
Call it a coincidence if you like, I find it a bit more than just that. A site built in the name of war, for the war, used during the war and its atrocities, is now home to a convention that now resonates, not the roars of fighter jets, but the voice of Khalifatul Masih as he invites the world towards the last chance of peacebuilding through Islam.
This Eifel mountain range came into being through a volcanic eruption around ten-thousand years ago. The volcanic eruption was at such a grand scale that it had led to major climate change in the area for many decades.
The lava had spilled to a radius of around forty kilometres, creating bumps and craters, turning the area into what is now known as Europe’s youngest landscape created through volcanic activity – the youngest and ten-thousand years old.
Majority of experts in volcanic activity are of the opinion that the volcano is no longer active, but there is a school that believes that the lava is asleep and might well wake up one day, to create an activity of a similar scale to the previous one from ten-thousand years ago.
I am not a geologist or an expert in volcanic activity, but I do believe that spiritual tectonic plates in the region are on the move – deep below the surface of the land from where Mrs Rose had identified the Promised Messiahas and admired his message. She once sent him a rose in the envelope with a letter asking for it to be kept safe as evidence of Germany’s inclination towards his message.
Volcanic activity might be dormant under this land, but the lava of faith with all its heat and force is ready to erupt and eradicate the ice-cold state of faithlessness from this region.
So while my five-day stay in Germany was eventful as it was with Jalsa Salana and my duties, but these thoughts and feelings made it even more memorable.
And before I close this piece, I must take you with me on my half-past-nine lift to the airport.
I woke the next morning, went through my morning routine and was ready at nine o’clock – half an hour before my pick-up time – when Mateen Sahib called to say that he would be coming at half past ten
which is a more appropriate time to leave for the airport.
As if I had wanted this to happen, I shot up from the chair and headed straight out, took one right turn, one left, and about a hundred steps, and there I was: right in front of the monastery. I looked at it from a distance to take it all in – with all its grandeur, majesty and towering height.
I walked towards what I could sense from the distance I was at that the building, like most Benedictine monasteries, had a cloister wrapped around it. I stepped into the cloister and found myself in an air laden with rich history. The mighty doors that led into the monasteries stood proudly at either end of the cloister. I went to the one on the right-hand side and pushed it open. It required more strength than I had given it – and why not as behind it was the weight of centuries of meditation and prayer, hope and desire, longing and yearning.
In less than a second, I was inside the monastery, all by myself. I could hear my steps echo as I walked through the space of the monastery that was heavily filled with aura. I walked to each artefact hanging on the ancient walls.
All of a sudden, I gasped as I saw a shadow on the altar, all dressed in black. The gentleman approached me and with a very kind smile, held his hand out which I shook with haste – haste because I was waiting to bump into someone I could talk to about the monastery.
I told him how I had remained in awe
of the monastery’s building for the last five days and the awe had brought me wandering into it.
Understanding my destitute desire to know about the monastery, he introduced himself with his name and that he lived in the monastery as a monk. I must have seemed childishly pleased with everything he was telling me that he took me around the monastery.
As he opened the door to the library, I was, in the true sense of the proverb, like a child in a candy shop.
I told him that I had imagined the monks of this monastery worshipping every morning.
“Around what time?”, he asked.
“About five o’clock!”, I replied as I wondered why he had asked this.
“Oh! That is exactly the time when we say our first prayer!”
Sensing what he might be wanting to ask further, I told him why the monks had dwelled on my imagination so early in the morning.
“I have a special connection with you. You wait for a Messiah to return, I believe that he has returned. This Messiah is what bonds us together”, I finally revealed to my newfound friend.
He extended his hand once again and I shook it. We spoke about other things that made me feel comfortable in the place I was in. We could have spoken more, but it was almost half-past-ten. He was a monk and wasn’t going anywhere. I wasn’t a monk and had to catch my flight.
Message of Islam Ahmadiyyat echoes through the Belgian press
Ata-ul-Haye Nasir
Ahmadiyya Archive and Research Centre
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas of Qadian, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, states:
“God Almighty desires to draw all those who live in various habitations of the world, be it Europe or Asia, and who have virtuous nature, to the Unity of God and unite His servants under one Faith.” (The Will [AlWasiyyat], pp. 8-9)
The writings, claims, and prophecies of the Promised Messiahas had reached far and wide during his life through various periodicals around the world, and this continued after his time as well.
The Ahmadiyya Archive and Research Centre has uncovered several Belgian periodicals which mentioned the Promised Messiahas, Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya, the Fazl Mosque, martyrdom in Kabul, early missionary activities in Belgium and around the world, Jamaat’s advocacy for Muslim rights, the towns of Qadian and Rabwah, and the establishment of mosques.
These newspapers and magazines which will be quoted below are counted among the prominent Belgian periodicals, such as Journal de Bruxelles that was printed between 1841-1926, Le Soir which was founded in 1887 and La Dernière Heure that began in 1906.
According to Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat (Vol. 1, pp. 574-575), The Anglo-Belgian Times of Brussels wrote a review in the early 1910s on the Promised Messiah’sas book The Teachings of Islam
There are several other Belgian periodicals that have served as a great means for propagating the Promised Messiah’sas message. Its glimpse is being presented below, translated from French or Flemish.
Martyrdom in Kabul
In 1924, mentioning the martyrdom of Nematullah Khan Sahib in Kabul, Le Matin of Antwerp wrote under the heading “Afghan Unrest The Persecution of Religious Reformers”:
“Reports are coming from Kabul that a reformer [missionary] of the Ahmadiyya sect was stoned to death after several months of torture in prison. [...] Several other religious reformers have been thrown into prison.” (Le Matin, 6 September 1924)
The same news was published by Vers L’Avenir on the same day.
The Fazl Mosque’s foundation
Reporting on the Fazl Mosque’s foundation laying ceremony, Journal de Bruxelles wrote under the heading “The First Mosque in London”:
“London, 20.—The foundation stone of the first mosque, Melrose Road, Southfields, was laid yesterday. The ceremony was attended by a senior Mohammedan dignitary [Hazrat Musleh-e–Maudra] and members of the Moslem community, including English converts to Islam.” (Journal de Bruxelles, 23 October 1924)
The Fazl Mosque’s inauguration
On 4 October 1926, Le Soir wrote under the heading “Faisal in London: Will the Southfields Mosque be Opened to Christians?”:
“Prince Faisal, Viceroy of Mecca and son of the King of the Hejaz, is said to have received a cable from his father forbidding him from going tomorrow to preside at the inauguration of the mosque built at Southfields, near London, for the benefit of the Mohammedans from various parts of the Empire who visit England.
“The principal object of the Prince’s journey, it is asserted, was precisely to attend this ceremony. This last-minute mishap has caused much surprise here. The Emir’s entourage refuses to give any information on this subject and even denies that there was a cable from the King, but it is said elsewhere that the news was received in Mecca that the new mosque will be opened to Christians with the aim of converting them, which has raised protests in the holy city and motivated the royal ban.”
La Libre Belgique published a similar news on the same day, under the heading
“England: Incident concerning the inauguration of the Southfields Mosque”.
The Fazl Mosque was therefore inaugurated by Khan Bahadur Sir Sheikh Abdul Qadir.
Jamaat’s missionary efforts
On 13 July 1937, Vers L’Avenir wrote under the heading “In Africa: Predominance of Islam”:
“In the Gold Coast [now Ghana], the Ahmadiyya movement is very active, supported by the native Mohammedans.”
Another Belgian newspaper, L’Avenir Du Luxembourg, wrote under the heading “The Muslim Trial Among the Pagan Peoples”:
“In 1920, there were already 280,836 private Muslim elementary schools in India. 14 secondary schools, 3 higher schools and 13 normal schools. There are bigger colleges in Peshawar, Aligarh and Lahore; Hyderabad has a university; Ahmadiyya – Qadian and Lahore – have seminaries for Muslim propagation. Today, India can claim the title of one of the main centres of Islam.” (L’Avenir Du Luxembourg, 25 August 1939)
Advocacy for the Muslim rights
In 1942, the British government sent a mission to India, led by Sir Stafford Cripps, which presented some proposals for the political future of India. The proposals were against the Muslim interests and thus Hazrat
Musleh-e-Maudra expressed condemnation and advocated the Muslim rights. The press extensively covered his views, including the Belgian press. For instance, Le Centre stated under the heading “Cripps’ Offers Go Against Mohammedan Interests”
“Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin, head of the Ahmadia Community, has expressed his displeasure over the proposals forwarded by Sir Stafford Cripps.
“Hazrat said that these offers go against Mohammedan interests. They were made, he added, with the sole object of depriving the Muslims of their legitimate rights. The Ahmadia Community is an Islamic sect with a membership of a million.” (Le Centre, 8 April 1942)
The same news was published on the same day by La Province de Namur and Gazette de Charleroi
Le Soir reported the same under the heading “Various oppositions to the Cripps’ Plan” on the same day and De Gentenaar published it on 9 April 1942 under the heading “The Ahmadia Community Opposed the British Proposals”.
Malik Ataur Rahman Sahib in France
Mentioning about the preaching activities of an Ahmadi missionary in France, Malik Ataur Rahman Sahib, another Belgian newspaper Vooruit wrote on 14 July 1948:
“In Paris, Malik Ataur Rahman – an Indian who claims that the true Messiah was born in 1836 [sic., 1835] in Kada’ (near
Lahore) and was called Hazrat Ahmad[as] –preaches the advent of the uniform religion: Islam. The other religions will capitulate to him before the end of the next thousand years, the last for mankind! Let’s see!”
Eid-ul-Adha at the Fazl Mosque
On 14 October 1948, Eid-ul-Adha was offered at the Fazl Mosque in London. In those days, an African Conference was taking place in England, hence the African dignitaries attended an Eid reception at the Fazl Mosque.
Le Soir illustré published a photograph capturing guests who had gathered for the reception, with the following caption:
“Presence of the Orient, in London— Maulvi Mohd. Siddique, representing the colony of Sierra Leone in the English capital (right), and the Emir of Abuja [...] at the London Mosque, during the Eid-ul-Adha festival.” (Le Soir illustré, 21 October 1948)
Maulvi Muhammad Siddique Sahib was a missionary in Sierra Leone. In 1948, on his way back to Pakistan, he arrived in London on 3 October and stayed there until May 1949. (Ruh Parwar Yaadein [autobiography], p. 151)
In the above-mentioned photograph, the 6th Amir of Abuja, Suleimanu Barau (19031979), is having a discussion with Maulvi Muhammad Siddique Sahib Amritsari.
L’Indépendance published another photograph of the same event with the following caption:
“Exchange of Views
“The three Muslims in our photo seem particularly attentive to the exchange of views they are having in a mosque. In fact, Brigadier General Hayaud Din, on the left, seems so interested in the explanations given to him by Mr Zafarullah Khan, Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs [...].” (L’Indépendance, 1 December 1948)
Ataur Rahman Sahib’s interview to La Dernière Heure
In 1948, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra instructed Malik Ataur Rahman Sahib to visit Belgium. He visited Brussels and Antwerp and was interviewed by several Belgian newspapers.
For instance, on 4 December 1948, La Dernière Heure published the following article by a well-known journalist, Hugues Vehenne, under the heading “Islam wants to Conquer Belgium: Ten Minute’s with the Prophet’s Missionary”:
“I have before me a [missionary of a] Prophet. He is young, swarthy, slightly bearded. He wears an astrakhan cap and a Persian tunic. [...]:
“‘My name is Malik Ataur Rahman. I am an Indian and Muslim graduate in literature from the University of Punjab. I have dedicated my life to the service of religion, in order to carry the message of the Messiah to the ends of the world…’”
This was followed by the transcript of Malik Ataur Rahman Sahib’s interview [Questions in Italics]:
“Which Messiah?
“Hazrat Ahmad[as], the holy man. He lived from 1836 to 1908 in Qadian, India. It was he who, in 1889, founded the ‘Ahmadiyyah’ movement.
“Why?
“Because God had commanded him!
“So he was in communion with God!
“Yes. And his advent had been announced 1300 years ago by the last Prophet[sa] who preceded him in the world!
“Who?
“Muhammad[sa], who founded Islam.
“What was Muhammad’s[sa] prophecy?
“He had prophesied that the promised prophet would have a dark complexion and straight hair; that he would have a twin sister; that he would be born in a village called Kadia; that he would stutter a little, and that he would have two diseases.
“All these signs were realised in the person of Hazrat Ahmad[as]
“May his holy name be blessed.
“What were Hazrat’s works?
“He himself made thousands of prophecies, collected in a volume of 696 pages. Several hundred have already been fulfilled!
“Truly?
“Yes, said the missionary of the Prophet; faith shines in his eyes.
“Hazrat predicted the First World War of 1914. He revealed that the Emperor of Russia would be reduced to a very miserable condition.
“Then, he was challenged by an American who called himself a prophet.
“Wasn’t he?
“Oh no! He pretended to be Elijah, or a forerunner of the return of Jesus[as]
“He announced that God had sent him to destroy Islam.
“Hazrat responded: ‘Let us each pray, and God will cause death to the impostor first!’
“It was the American who died, the poor and foolish one!
“Did Hazrat preach?
“Yes, throughout his life.
“But what did he preach?
“The Islamic religion; he renewed and revived it. He affirmed that the Quran is still the Source of Knowledge and that it is a complete code that enables us to solve all the moral, social, political and economic problems of today and the future.
“But how could this Islam be accepted by the Christian people?
“Nothing forbids them to do so; calmly said the missionary of the Prophet. We have a lot of esteem and admiration for Jesus[as]
“? [in wonder]
“Yes, Jesus[as] is also a Prophet. And like all the prophets, he prophesied the advent of Hazrat. It is in the Gospel!
“Still, Hazrat was a little far from Europe or from Brussels?
“But no! He is related to the whole world.
“?.... [in wonder]
“Yes, by the place of birth, to the Indian. By his race (he was Persian), to the Persians and to all the worshipers of the sun. By the prophecy of Muhammad[sa], he was Promised to all Muslims.
“And for the Christians?
“But he was also promised by Jesusas, and he lived under the rule of a British government, and therefore [related to the] Christians, Malik Ataur Rahman said calmly.
“So, Hazrat is chosen by God to unite all humanity under the banner of Islam?
“Exactly.
“And since his demise, what has happened?
“One of his disciples was elected Caliph of the Movement. And when he passed
away, it was the eldest son of the Messiah who succeeded him, since 1914. His name is Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad[ra]
“And how is the message of the Messiah carried to the ends of the world?
“For 34 years we have been sending missionaries to the East, to America, to Australia. We have a dozen centres in America, a mosque in London, hundreds in Africa.
“In Europe?
“We preached in Central Europe, in Russia and Germany. But Stalin chased us away.
“And Hitler?
“He ignored us. Since 1945, we have established a centre in Germany.
“And you yourself, what are you doing?
“I am the head of the nine missionaries who must convert Europe, Malik declares with conviction and seriousness. We have founded centres in Italy, Switzerland, Holland and Spain. At the moment, I am dealing with France, Belgium and Holland.
“And do you get conversions?
“A lot, he says.
“By what means?
“Conferences, interviews, posters, lectures. And especially, I make visits to the kings, presidents, senior officers, scholars and clergymen.
“How is your movement supported?
“By donations from the faithful. We are nearly half a million.
“One last question. Prophets are often persecuted. Was it like that for Hazrat?
“Yes. Some disciples were stoned to death in India. Insha-Allah
“Thereupon, Malik Ataur Rahman ‘Amir of the envoys of Islam in Europe’ picked up his papers, greeted me and left, like a polite shadow, without asking me either a franc or my conversion.
“He had sown the seed.
“This Muslim missionary – who came from 8,000 kilometres to conquer Europe for his religion and shivering with cold under his astrakhan cap in the streets of Brussels, is the strangest visitor I have ever received.” (La Dernière Heure, 4 December 1948)
Ataur Rahman Sahib’s interview to Le Phare Dimanche
Le Phare Dimanche also published an interview of Malik Sahib under the heading “Islam Invades Europe!”:
“Islam, a religion of continuous transformation, has always produced a number of prophets, some of them creating schisms and sects, which exist up to now; others have disappeared without leaving a trace.
“A few days ago, a little man, with intelligent eyes and a lowered gaze, presented himself as the representative of the ‘Messiah’ at the Phare Dimanche
“According [to him], a Messiah has appeared in India (where he died in 1908) and has instructed his disciples to spread his message to the corners of the world. This is how, without the help of the sword, Muslims are trying to convert Christians to [the faith of] the Quran! This is, to say the least, a new and original [endeavour].
“According to this envoy (‘Amir’ of the Ahmadiyya Movement), the prophet Hazrat Ahmad[as] is the Messiah. It was prophesied
that the Messiah would be of tanned complexion and would have straight hair (as did Hazrat Ahmad[as]). The prophecy says that he would have a twin sister; he would be born in a village named Kad’a; he would stammer slightly and would suffer from two ailments: All these signs were fulfilled in Hazrat Ahmad[as]
“He is ‘Krishna’ and ‘Buddha’ for the Hindus, ‘Mesio’ for the Zoroastrians, ‘Messiah’ for the Christians, and ‘Mahdi’ for the Muslims. How can one ever doubt this? How can one ever doubt the fulfilment of the prophecy that ‘the whole world, in the end, will accept Islam’?
“According to the ‘Amir’, the Ahmadiyya Movement has established communities everywhere in the world, even in the United States, the United Kingdom and France. He wants to establish one at least in Belgium.
“What else can [we] do but wish good luck to this man? Are not all beliefs worthy [of our] respect?” (Le Phare Dimanche, 19 December 1948)
Missionary activities and mosque in the Netherlands
Mentioning the missionary activities of Hafiz Qudratullah Sahib and Ghulam Ahmad Bashir Sahib in Holland, Brugsche Courant wrote under the heading “You Know it Now! – Missionaries in the Neighbourhood”:
“We see how the missionaries go to distant regions to teach religion to the savages. But foreign religious movements also want to lead us onto the true straight path and convert us. For example, missionaries Hafiz and Bashir from the Ahmadiyya Muslim [Community] came to our region. They have already established mosques in Paris, London, Berlin and Chicago. Now these missionaries arrived in Holland and are doing their best to attract followers (for the Muslim paradise). Hafiz and Bashir spread their mats on the street and the people of The Hague heard strange prayers mumbled by those crouching down.
“The foreign preachers had a lot of difficulty learning Dutch, but that is how it got there. And Hafiz is heard saying: ‘How cruel to think that a newborn is a sinner.’ And Bashir adds: ‘Islam says that Heaven is eternal, but that Hell in the afterlife is only a temporary place. Hell is like a clinic, a place where people heal.’ The missionaries gained (already) ten followers in two years. They think that Holland will be completely converted within a hundred years.” (Brugsche Courant, 9 July 1949)
Then, De Standaard wrote under the heading “First Mosque in the Netherlands”:
“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in the Netherlands has announced that it will soon start building a mosque in The Hague. The mosque will be the first to be built in the country. The Ahmadiyya movement was founded in Qadian (India) by Hazrat Ahmad[as] (1835-1908) and has its headquarters in Rabwah (Pakistan).” (De Standaard, 29 July 1950)
The same news was published by Het Handelsblad on 29-30 July 1950.

The True Revolution – Part V
English translation of Inqilab-e-Haqiqi
An address by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmadra, Khalifatul Masih
II, al-Musleh al-Mau‘ud
Delivered at Jalsa Salana Qadian on 28 December 1937
In this address, delivered at Jalsa Salana Qadian on 28 December 1937, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra discusses material movements in world history and the secrets of their success, followed by an exploration of the grand epochs of religious movements. He declares that the revolution brought about by the Promised Messiahas was, in essence, a revival of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa. He then speaks about the revolution initiated by the Promised Messiah, outlining the objectives of Tahrik-e-Jadid and associating this revolution with the demands of Tahrik-e-Jadid. Concluding his address, he sheds light on the means to establish an Islamic civilisation and directs the attention of Ahmadis towards their responsibilities.
The Meaning of the Term ﺔعاﺴلا (The Hour)
Hence, the Great Prophets epitomise resurrection; through them the previous order is wiped away and a new generation of people is raised. Because they established a new system, the age of their advent is referred to in religious terminology as Judgement Day, and it is distinguished by the two defining features of the actual Judgement Day. First, the people of the time (spiritually) perish and die. Secondly, they are raised back to life. With the advent of the Prophets, at first, the world seemed to be enveloped in a [spiritual] death, and all the doors that were open to communion with God were closed. Thereafter, new doors by which to attain closeness with God are opened by the Prophet of the time. Their actions are akin to the demolition of an old building and the construction of a new edifice. (Here, the old building signifies two things: an edifice based on an outdated law or teaching that was prevalent before the prophet’s advent, or a self-made explanatory structure of teachings that people might have erected by disregarding the original preserved law or teachings.) The Qur’an refers to this time as ‘The Hour’.”
With reference to the Holy Prophetsa the Holy Qur’an says:
ridicule those who believe.
That is, whereas on the Day of Judgement the believers will rank above them.
The scene described in the words
will also occur on that Day of Judgement which is to take place after death, when disbelievers will be cast into hell and believers sent to heaven. However, because this day, [wherein the truth of the Holy Prophetsa will be affirmed by the victory of the believers], will not be such that people can heed any warning from it as is implicit in the verse, here the term Day of Judgement refers to the time when the Holy Prophetsa would triumph over the disbelievers and when the world would come to witness the most extraordinary of events. That is, they would live to see a man who had once stood alone and persecuted by a whole nation, become the ruler of these people while the previous leaders would be made his subjects.
The Meaning of ‘The Hour has Drawn Close’
Yet another verse of the Holy Qur’an refers to the time of the Holy Prophetsa as The Hour It says:
That is, Judgement Day is close at hand as portended by the splitting of the moon. How was the moon ripped into two? For the moment, I will not discuss the exact nature of this event. Instead, I wish to focus on the opening part of the verse. Over 1300 years have passed since this reported incident [took place] including over half of the 14th century, but the Day of Judgement is still to arrive. However, Allah says that because the moon has been split, consider it is close at hand. This question is also worth considering, what, if any, relationship exists between the splitting of the moon and a Judgement Day that will be experienced after death? To attempt to create such a link is akin to fitting the proverbial square peg into a round hole.
That is, the enticements of the world appear attractive to disbelievers who
Here in this verse the crux of the matter is, Judgement Day should not be understood as that day of reckoning which is to take place after death, but rather as the victory of the Holy Prophetsa. The verse alludes to the new spiritual life that was to be created
through him. The splitting of the moon, in whatever manner it took place, was in reality a prophecy of the downfall of Arab power.
In [the book] The Knowledge of Interpreting Dreams, the moon is said to represent Arab rule. Therefore, the idea conveyed in this verse is that the splitting of the moon points to the end of the existing order in Arabia that would necessarily result in the victory of the Holy Prophetsa and the establishment of his rule. [Through this verse] God sought to warn people away from evil even before the arrival of this day of victory.
The Meaning of the Splitting of the Moon
Throughout the Arab world, the appearance of the moon in a dream or vision was widely recognised as a symbol of Arab governance, to the extent that even adherents of other faiths acknowledged and accepted this interpretation. History tells us that after the
victory of the battle of Khaybar, a daughter of a Jewish leader, Hazrat Safiyyahra was married to the Holy Prophetsa. He noticed some running marks on one of her cheeks and asked her how she had received them. Hazrat Safiyyahra replied: ‘Messenger of Allah! I once had a dream in which the moon split and fell into my lap. The vision distressed me, and I related it to my husband, who later spoke of it with my father, a great Jewish clergyman. When he heard this, my father was overcome by rage and struck me and asked whether I wished to marry the king of the Arabs. The moon, he said, represented an Arab king, while seeing it fall into one’s lap represented marriage. He hit me so hard that a mark was left on my cheek, the slight impressions of which are still visible.’
In whatever form or manner the moon may have shown to be split, its import

Pakistan, Drapeau Rouge wrote under the heading “Protests in Pakistan”:
“Many arrests have been made in Pakistan, both in the capital, Karachi, and in the Punjab province, following a series of demonstrations allegedly directed against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zafrullah Khan.
“Among those arrested are several leaders of the Congress of Muslim Parties, which is said to have initiated the protests because the minister belongs to a religious sect, the Ahmadiyya, to which the Congress is hostile.” (Le Drapeau Rouge, 2 March 1953)
Similarly, Le Soir mentioned the antiAhmadiyya riots in Karachi, Pakistan, on 10 March 1953, under the heading “Protests in Pakistan”.
Then in August, the same newspaper wrote about the Lahore riots and stated:
“It was a riot, but more serious than those that had followed one another during this spring. As usual, it was headed by the clergy, because it had, as always, a religious pretext. But this time, it was very specific: it was the indictment of the Minister of

was to prophesy the end of Arab rule as is explained by the Holy Qur’an in this verse. The Holy Qur’an says that the moon had been split, meaning that [traditional] Arab rule [in the peninsula] was to be succeeded by the government of the Holy Prophetsa which would usher in a spiritual form of Judgement Day.
The
Meaning of
The revelation
has been revealed to more than one Prophet and it means:
O (Prophetsa) you are the foundation upon which the system of your age rests. If it were not for you, I would not have created this universe which relies on you [for its existence].
This does not mean that Allah the Exalted would not have created this universe were it not for the existence of certain Prophets. Every spiritual revolution is in accordance with the capacity of the Prophet of the age and is a projection of his spiritual capabilities. Prophets essentially father such revolutions. Just as the birth of a child requires the agency of a father; similarly, no religious revolution can take place without a prophet. Therefore, it would be more accurate and true to say that if not for the advent of the Prophet [of the age], the new spiritual heaven and earth, which he establishes, cannot otherwise be created.
The revelation of کَالَفالا
was also revealed to the Promised Messiahas3 and before him, to the Holy Prophetsa 4 If the terms heaven and earth are understood to mean the physical solar system [or universe], it would seem incongruous for God Almighty to say to one of his Prophets — were it not for you, I would not have created the universe —and then repeat these exact words to another. Therefore, it should be clear that the words heaven and earth refer to the spiritual system which Prophets establish in the world. My own view is that
Foreign Affairs, Zafrullah Khan,” due to his association “to the Ahmadi sect, which believes that Muhammad[sa] has a successor in the person of Ahmad[as] El Qadian. [...] In short, through the strong personality of Sir Zafrullah, it is quite clear that it was the [Muslim] League – that is to say the government – that was targeted.” (Le Soir, 6 August 1953)
Ramadan at the Fazl Mosque
In 1956, Le Soir illustré published a photograph that captured a moment from a prayer at the Fazl Mosque in London, with the following caption:
“The Muslims in Britain remain faithful to their religion. During Ramadan, they go to the Southfields Mosque for communal prayer.” (Le Soir illustré, 12 July 1956)
Inauguration of the Swiss mosque
In 1963, mentioning the Mahmood Mosque, Le Soir wrote under the heading “Mosque in Switzerland”:
“The first mosque in Switzerland was officially inaugurated in Zurich, in the presence of Muhammad Zafrulla Khan[ra],
all the Prophets who instigated such revolutions must have received this revelation. However, we can of course say, that because the Holy Prophetsa was sent for all ages and for all of humankind, every era [of history] ought to be included when applying this revelation to him, while for all other Prophets it should be understood in terms of a limited period of time and space.
The Meaning of
and the Bible
My interpretation of the words heaven and earth is supported by the bible. In Matthew Chapter 5 Verse 18, it is written: For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.5
Here heaven and earth refer to the Mosaic dispensation, and it means that until the religion of Mosesas exists, the teachings of the Torah cannot come to an end. But when this religious system ceases to exist, it will not be necessary to follow the teachings of the Torah. The fact of the matter is that the Holy Qur’an has abrogated its teachings. Indeed, the Torah itself claims the law of Mosesas was to be succeeded by another. In Deuteronomy Chapter 18 Verse 18-19, it is written:
I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command. Anyone who does not heed the words that the prophet[b] shall speak in my name, I myself will hold accountable.6
From these verses the following can be deduced: (1) That another Prophet was to be raised for the Jewish people, as is written that ‘I will raise up for them a prophet’. (2) He would be a law-bearing Prophet like Mosesas, as mentioned that ‘I will raise up for them a Prophet like you’. (3) He would be from among the children of Ishmael and not the children of Israel, for it is written that he would be from ‘their brethren’7 and not from among themselves. (4) Obedience
President of the United Nations General Assembly.
“The construction of this mosque is due to the initiative of the Ahmadiyya mission and should enable Muslims living in Switzerland and neighbouring countries to join and participate in religious services. The Ahmadiyya mission aims to bring all believers towards Islam.” (Le Soir, 27 June 1963)
The Holy Quran’s Dutch translation
Brugsch Handelsblad published a photograph under the heading “Dutch Quran Available”, and wrote:
“Anyone who suddenly feels the need to read the Quran in the Dutch version, from now on, only needs to visit the city library De Biekorf, because they now have one such copy in stock there. [...] On the occasion of the centenary of the Ahmadiyya Movement – a Muslim movement that emphatically distances itself from the fundamentalists –H. K. Mahmood handed over the copy to Alderman Stevens.” (Brugsch Handelsblad, 6 April 1990)
to him would be obligatory for Jews as it is written that he would have been raised for them. (5) If the Jewish people would not obey him they would be destroyed and the hour of their obliteration would arrive, for it is written that whosever does not take heed of what he says, ‘I myself will hold accountable.’
In the presence of this prophecy, nobody can claim that Jesusas meant that the Law of Mosesas would continue for as long as the physical universe exists. Instead, it is clear that he meant that until a new spiritual order was established, the era of the Law of Mosesas would continue and no one could alter it.

A critical analysis and comparative study of the Book of Genesis –Part IV
Dr Abdur Rahman Bhutta

Section 4: The real story of Adamas and Eve
Before we review the above-mentioned Biblical story and try to find out its real import and interpretation, let us remind ourselves that these traditions of Genesis, as we have them today, were compiled and composed by the scribes of Israel, after their return from exile in 3rd or 4th centuries BC. In the centuries before their final composition, there have been additions and modifications in these traditions as established by modern Biblical research scholars. We, therefore, will have to take into consideration the basic features of the story and ignore the abovecited funny details introduced into it.
The story of Adamas and Eve is also narrated in the Holy Quran, and we will be keeping in mind the Quranic version too, hoping that it will help us understand the true features of the story. At the end of this section, the ‘Arabian aspect’ of Adam’sas story will also be presented in the light of historical evidence, Biblical references, and Islamic traditions.
(4a) Adamas and his garden
Adamas was a rich and righteous man who owned a piece of land near Iraq in Mesopotamia. He had developed the land into an estate called the “Garden of Eden.” (Five Volume Commentary of the Holy Quran, Surah al-A‘raf, Ch.7: V.12)
As God blessed his efforts and appointed him as His Prophet, he started working for the social welfare and moral uplift of the people in the area around him. He taught them the basics of the language and agriculture; and encouraged them to cover themselves, live in communities, and help each other in various social and moral fields. Many good people, mostly youth, joined him and they began to teach and
preach their new social order among the other tribes around them. (Tafsir-e-Kabir by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad, Vol. 7, ed. 1986, Surah an-Naml, Ch, 27, V. 4, p. 332)
But a certain wild and wicked tribe did not like the reformatory activities of Adamas and it turned against him. They started planning to overthrow his estate and destroy his plans to reform the community. God revealed to Adamas the evil designs of those people and warned him “not to go near that tree (i.e., tribe).” (The tree means tribe, as we have the ‘family tree’). “Otherwise,” said God, “you will harm yourself” (Bible, “you will die”).
As advised by God, Adamas avoided contact with those mischief-mongers and continued with his mission successfully.
His enemies, however, continued to think of how to revive their relationship with Adamas and his community in order to carry out their sinister plan against them. Soon they struck out a plan. They decided to approach Adamas as his sincere friends and followers and try to convince him of their sincerity and get him to relax the ban that he had put on the mutual relationship. One day the chief of that devilish tribe went to see Adamas and assured him that he and his people have now had a change of heart and that they extend to him a ‘friendly’ hand of cooperation.
That ‘devil’ argued that it would be in the interest of all of them that they should resume their mutual relations. (The Bible says that he talked to the wife first and convinced her before Adamas was involved. Using a wife to convince a husband is quite understandable. Maybe that tribe was his wife’s maiden tribe.). According to the Holy Quran, that the devil swore to them that he was their well-wisher and a sincere adviser. He assured them that if they joined together, their mission would receive a big boost, ‘their eyes would open’ in surprise, and they would ‘live forever’. (Five Volume Commentary of the Holy Quran, Surah alA‘raf, Ch.7: V.21-22 and Surah Taha Ch.20:
V.121-122)
(4b) Adamas deceived
Seeing that the circumstances had changed and the grounds for the ban on mutual contact were no longer valid, Adamas agreed to resume the mutual relationship. He had fallen into the trap laid by his enemies, and the result was disastrous. (He had gone near the ‘forbidden tree’). The people of that tribe (tree) caused serious disruption and disorder in the divine community of Adamas and caused his downfall. (Like a serpent hidden in the grass, the devil had bitten him hidden in the guise of a friend.)
Ordinarily, simple and innocent people get very upset at even the slightest lapse on their part; and here a noble man of Adam’sas spiritual calibre had been made to disregard a specific divine commandment, resulting in a great loss to himself and to his community. Although he and his wife had been the victims of deception and they had not acted deliberately, nevertheless they had forgotten to keep a divine command, and their spiritual relationship with their Creator was disturbed. They, therefore, were naturally very worried and distressed.
Their “eyes opened” when they realised to their dismay that, despite all their piety and virtues, they were still only weak and vulnerable humans. Overwhelmed by their guilty conscience, Adamas and Eve felt so ashamed of themselves as if all their garments of righteousness and innocence had been torn away from them, and they stood ‘naked’ before their Creator, afraid to face Him. They wished desperately to hide themselves somewhere if they could. (Ibid.)
(4c) Adamas taken to task
Their Creator saw the mistake that they had made and how they were now suffering for it. He said to them, “Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: verily, Satan is to you an open foe?” They showed their remorse
and repented, but that was not enough. God asked them to beg His pardon in these words:
“They said, ‘Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves; and if Thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, we shall surely be of the lost.’”. (Surah al-A‘raf, Ch.7: V.23-24) They begged God’s pardon, and their prayer was accepted, and thus the spiritual damage was repaired, but the physical and social damage suffered by them was still there. To repair that damage and to save them from further harm, God warned them that there were enemies around in that area and that they and their members, therefore, should leave that place and migrate to another safer land. (Five Volume Commentary of the Holy Quran, Surah alA‘raf, Ch.7: V.22-25 and Surah Taha Ch.20: V.122-124)
(4d) The damage repaired
The Bible says that Adam and Eve covered their nakedness with the ‘leaves of fig tree’. In the Quran, it is mentioned that they used ‘leaves of the garden’ to cover themselves. In the language of the visions, ‘the leaves’ mean, among other things, the ‘noble progeny’ and ‘righteous youth’ of a community. [Dreams and Their Meanings in the Old Arab Tradition by Yehia Gouda, Vantage Press, 2006, p. 304] So in these symbolic words, it is said that, in order to cover their weaknesses and to repair the damage done to the community, Adamas rallied around him noble youngmen of the community, trained and organised them, and thus rebuilt the social structure and physical strength of the society. (Ibid.)
Of course, in their new homeland, he and his people had to work really hard. As the Bible puts it “in the sweat of their face,” they had to remove “thorns and thistles” of that foreign land so as to settle there and to cultivate it “to grow the plants of the field and eat their bread.” However, despite all the hardships and opposition, they were
eventually able to achieve their mission of reforming and improving the community.
(4e) Where did Adamas migrate to?
Before we proceed further with the Biblical account of Adam and his ‘sin’, let us try to find out where Adamas could have migrated to, after his so-called ‘fall’ in the Garden of Eden. In the history of Arabia and in some Islamic traditions, we have many strong clues on this issue. The knowledge gained in this respect will also help us understand the other difficult situations that we might encounter as we go further in our study of Genesis.
(4e-i) Adamas in Arabia
Some Islamic traditions mention Adamas to have lived in Arabia where he is said to have built the ‘Ka‘bah’ which has been a holy place for the Arabs throughout their known history. Even some non-Muslim scholars have admitted that “the Ka‘bah has been held sacred from the time immemorial” and that “[...] the tradition represents the Ka‘bah as from the time immemorial the scene of pilgrimage from all quarters of Arabia. So extensive a homage must have had its beginning in an extremely remote age”. (Diodorus Siculus and William Muir, as cited in the Five Volume Commentary of the Holy Quran, Surah al-Hajj, Ch.22: V.30)
The Holy Quran confirms these observations about the Ka‘bah by calling it “the first House founded for mankind is that at Becca” (Surah Aal-e-Imran, Ch.3: V.97), a very “Ancient House” (Surah Al-Haj, Ch,22: V.30,34); and “Allah has made the Ka‘bah, the inviolable House, as a means of support and uplift for mankind,” (Surah Al-Ma’idah, Ch.5: V.98). Now, if not a holy man like Adamas, who else could have thought of making a house for Allah in that “extremely remote age” when our civilisation had not even dawned?.
The traditions have it that Adamas and Eve lived there with their children and were buried there near Ka‘bah. (Encyclopaedia of Islam, under ‘Adam’ by Tottoli Roberto) It appears that after the ‘mishap’ in the ‘garden of Eden’, Adamas was advised by God to migrate with his family and followers to the western part of the Arabian Peninsula known as the ‘Hijaz’ and settle there along the coast of the Red Sea. They gradually multiplied and developed into various tribes which spread over a large part of the Arabian peninsula. Over the centuries, however, most of these ‘original inhabitants of Arabia’ vanished from the face of the earth for various reasons and came to be called the “Perishing Arabs” (Al-Arab al-Ba’ida). (Sirat Khatam an-Nabiyyinsa by Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmadra, under ‘[Arabia and its] Inhabitants’)
(4e-ii) Noahas and his sons in Arabia
Some of the surviving tribes of Adam’sas progeny multiplied further and spread in the southwestern part of Arabia till the area became overpopulated. They, therefore, had to move gradually northward along the coast of the Red Sea, and entering the Fertile Crescent, they populated Mesopotamia and the areas around it.
More than a thousand years later, when
Noah’sas flood occurred in that area, Noahas, the ‘second Adam’, too migrated with his family and followers down to the same southwestern area of Arabia of the Hijaz where the Ka‘bah was. According to South Arabian tradition, Shem, the son of Noah, founded Ma‘rib, the capital of Yemen which was located near Sana‘a which is now the modern capital of Yemen. (Five Volume Commentary of the Holy Quran, Surah alBaqarah, Ch. 2, V. 128 and Surah al-Hajj, Ch.22: V.30)
How, after the Flood, the tribes springing from Shem and Ham (the sons of Noah) migrated to, and spread over all the Arabian Peninsula, is described by a Biblical dictionary/commentary as follows:
“[...] Arabia eventually became the home of many of the post-Flood families listed in Genesis chapter ten. In the Semitic branch, Joktan (Arabic ‘Qahtan’) fathered the heads of some thirteen different Arabian tribes; while three of Aram’s descendants, Uz, Gether and Mash appear to have settled in the North of Arabia and Syrian desert [...] From the Hamitic branch several descendants of Cush, including Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and his sons Sheba, Dedan and Sebteca seem to have occupied mainly the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula – Gen.10:7”. (Aid to Bible Understanding by Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, New York, USA, ed.1971, under ‘Arabia’)
Since most of these early Arabian tribes were descendants of Joktan (Qahtan), the 3rd grandson of Shem (the son of Noah), these Arabian tribes have been termed as ‘Qahtanite’ (or ‘Qahtani Arabs’). Historically they are now regarded as the ‘Original inhabitants of Arabia’ (Arab-e-arba). (Sirat Khatam an-Nabiyyinsa by Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmadra, under ‘[Arabia and its] Inhabitants’)
(4e-iii) Abraham’sas son and grandsons in Arabia
To complete the genealogy of the Arabs, it may be mentioned here that almost a thousand years after Noah’sas progeny had populated the Arabian Peninsula, a similar repopulation of the Peninsula took place through the progeny of Abrahamas, another Prophet of God. Abrahamas took his family and traveled all the way from the land of Canaan to the land of Hijaz in western Arabia and settled there near the Ka‘bah, the Sacred House of Allah (Surah Ibrahim, Ch.14: V.38). This time the family consisted of only two persons: Hagar, the wife of Abrahamas, and Ishmaelas, his firstborn.
Ishmaelas grew up, married, and had twelve sons who fathered twelve tribes that spread over most of the Arabian Peninsula and came to be called ‘Al-Arab Al-Musta‘rabah’ (Immigrant Arabs or Arabicised Arabs). After the name of ‘Adnan’, a famous grandson of Ishmael, these Arabs are also called ‘Adnani Arabs’ or ‘Adnanites’ as against ‘Qahtani Arabs’ or ‘Qahtanites’ who are the descendants of Noahas through ‘Qahtan’ (Joktan) and are regarded as the ‘original Arabs’ as already mentioned. (Ibid.)
The same Biblical dictionary/ commentary mentions the spread of the descendants of Ishmaelas in Arabia as follows:
“ISHMAELITE: A descendant of Ishmael, the firstborn of Abraham by
Hagar, the Egyptian handmaid of Sarah (Gen.16: 1-4, 11). Ishmael, in turn, married an Egyptian by whom he had twelve sons (Nebaioth, Kedar, Abdeel, Mibsam, Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah), the chieftains of various Ishmaelite clans. (Gen. 21:21; 25:13-16) [...] As God had promised, the Ishmaelites grew to become ‘a great nation’ that ‘could not be numbered for multitude’. (Gen.17:20; 16:10).
But instead of settling down (they built only a few cities), they preferred the nomadic way of life. Ishmaelas himself was “a Zebra of a man”, that is, a restless wanderer who roamed the Wilderness of Paran and lived by his bow and arrows. His descendants were likewise tent dwelling bedouins for the most part, a people who ranged over the Sinai Peninsula from ‘in front of Egypt’, that is to the East of Egypt and across North Arabia as far as Assyria”. (Aid to Bible Understanding by Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, New York, USA, ed.1971, under ‘Ishmaelite’)
(4f) Arabia, a ‘reservoir’ for the human population
How from the very early times the Arabian Peninsula has been instrumental in populating our earth at large, is summed up by a well known historian as follows:
“The surface of Arabia is mostly desert with a narrow margin of habitable land around the periphery. The sea encircles this periphery. When the population increases beyond the capacity of the land to support it, the surplus must seek elbow room. But this surplus cannot expand inwards because of the desert, nor outward on account of the sea, a barrier which in those days was well-nigh impassable. The overpopulation would then find one route open before it on the western coast of the peninsula leading northward and forking at the Sinaitic peninsula to the fertile valley of Nile”. (History of the Arabs From the Earliest Times to the Present by Philip K. Hitti, ed.7, 1960, Ch.1, p. 10)
It has been mentioned already that the Prophets Adamas, Noahas and Abrahamas had appeared more or less a thousand years apart from each other; and that their generations having populated the Arabian Peninsula, migrated northwards along the coast of the Red Sea, into the Fertile Crescent and spread over the surrounding areas. Referring to this cycle of human influx, the same historian writes:
“A comparative examination of the dates quoted above, suggested to certain Semitists the notion that in recurrent cycles of approximately one thousand years Arabia, like a mighty reservoir, became populated to the point where overflow was inevitable. These same scholars would speak of the migrations in the terms of “waves” Accepting Arabia – Najad or Al-Yaman – as the homeland and the distributing centre of the Semitic peoples does not preclude the possibility of their having once before at a very early date, constituted with another member of the white race, the Hamites, one community somewhere in eastern Africa. It was from this community that those who were later termed ‘Semites’ crossed over into the Arabian peninsula, possibly at Ba’b-al-Mandab. This would make Africa the probable Semito-Hamitic home; and Arabia the cradle of the Semitic people and
the centre of their distribution. The Fertile Crescent was the scene of their civilization”. (Ibid., Ch. 1, p. 13)
(4f-i) The Arabs and the science of genealogy
One of many peculiarities of Arabs, has been their keen interest and pride in their ancestry and genealogy; and it would be interesting and useful to read some details in this respect from the same renowned historian. He writes:
“In the purity of his blood, his eloquence and poetry, his sword and horse, and above all in his noble ancestry (nasab), the Arabian take infinite pride. He is excessively fond of prodigious genealogies and often traces his lineage back to Adam. No people other than the Arabians, have ever raised genealogy to the dignity of science. [...]
“The memory and consciousness of this national distinction among the Arabs is reflected in their own traditional genealogies. They divide themselves first into two groups: extinct (ba’idah) including Thamud, ‘Ad – both of koranic fame – Tasim and Jadi’s; and surviving (baqiyah) [...]
“Next, the genealogists proceed to subdivide the surviving Arabians into two ethnic stocks: Arabian Arabs (Aribah) and Arabicized Arabs (Mustaribah). The ‘Aribah’, according to them are ‘Yamanites’, descended from Qahtan (the Joktan of the Old Testament) and constitute the aboriginal stock; the ‘musta‘ribah’ are the Hijazis, Najdis, Nabataeans and Palmyrenes, all descended from ‘Adnan’, an offspring of Ishmael and ‘naturalised’ in the land”. (Ibid. Ch. 3 and 4, p. 28, 30-32)
(4f-ii) The Arabian peninsula, once a green and grassy land
The Arabian Peninsula is largely a dry, barren desert land but it was not so in earlier times. We are told that:
“In earlier times the Atlantic westerlies, which now water the highlands of Syria – Palestine, must have reached Arabia undrained, and during a part of the Ice Age, these same desert lands must have been pre-eminently habitable grasslands. Since the ice sheet never extended south of the great mountains in Asia Minor, Arabia was never made uninhabitable by glaciation. Its deep, dry wadi beds still bear witness to the erosive power of the rain-water that once flowed through them”. (Ibid., Ch. 2, p. 14)
So we see that in early times Arabia was a green and grassy land; and was capable of sustaining primitive humans. Adamas and his progeny could have lived and flourished here before some of their tribes migrated North and spread far and wide in Mesopotamia where centuries later Noahas was sent to guide and reform them.
In the light of historical, Biblical, as well as Islamic traditions, we have discovered a very important ‘Arabian background’ to the story of Adamas; and have also found out that Arabia in fact has been “a reservoir and the distribution centre” of the ancient people which we shall be dealing with, in our study of Genesis.
Next, we will go further to examine the story of “Adam and his sin” as narrated in Genesis and preached in Judeo-Christian theology.
100 Years Ago... Accounts of 1924: Venturing into the nations of Europe – Part II
Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Irfanira (1875-1957)
Impact of Huzoor’s interview on La Tribuna’s editor
The impact of [Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II’sra] interview on the editor of La Tribuna can be gauged from the article he published in the 20 August [1924] issue of his newspaper, which included a group photograph of Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud[ra] and his travel companions.
I present here the title, some headings, and excerpts from this article. The complete article, along with its translation, will be published in my travelogue, insha-Allah
The first title reads, “We are all soon to become Muslims,” under which he writes:
“In a short span of time, all of Europe, America, and other countries that do not yet accept Muhammad[sa] as a Prophet will become Muslim, including Italy.”
The above statement, conveying the message of Islam to the people of Italy, was derived from the interview with Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra]. He also titled another section, “The greatest saviour has arrived,” and yet another, “The Catholic pope.” Under this last title, he mentioned some prophecies of the Promised Messiahas, particularly regarding the Great War, and then reiterated the words of invitation to Islam, as I have mentioned before while discussing the pope.
The publication of this article in La Tribuna created a stir in the city, and wherever a companion of Huzoor[ra] ventured, hundreds of men, and women, young and old, would gather around them with enthusiasm and interest. Crowds would especially gather around the Imam[ra], their faces revealing the difficulty they had with the language, yet unable to suppress their emotions, they would express their personal feelings in their mother tongue.
Another newspaper
Following this, another article was published on the same date [20 August 1924] in the local newspaper “Il Giornale d’Italia.” Its correspondent had met with Huzoor[ra] at 2:30 pm. The title of his article was “Muslim Revival: Ahmadiyya.” We are certain that articles were published in other newspapers as well, but due to our unfamiliarity with the Italian language and our prompt departure, we could not ascertain further details.
My purpose in presenting these events is twofold: firstly, to convey that the sole objective of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] during this entire journey was to find ways to how rapidly we can spread the Ahmadiyya Jamaat across the world.
Secondly, to assess what obstacles exist in the propagation of Islam in these Western countries. Nevertheless, there is evident interest [in Islam] among the Italian people.
Meeting with Prime Minister Mussolini
On 19 August 1924, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II[ra] had a meeting with Italy’s Prime Minister [Benito] Mussolini. The main purpose of this meeting was to present the objectives and mission of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat to ensure that sending future missionaries to Italy would be facilitated without any misunderstandings. During the meeting, Huzoor[ra] utilised the time effectively to convey the Jamaat’s aims and objectives in appropriate terms. The Prime Minister received him with great respect and dedicated more than an hour of his time to the discussion.
One of the attributes of Huzoor’s character
I have previously written that Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] took particular care of the comfort and well-being of his associates during this journey. In Italy, we had to stay in two different hotels because one hotel had difficulties with food preparation, necessitating the use of another hotel for some friends so that food could be prepared there. Because of this, food was consumed in two different locations, and it became a regular practice for Huzoor[ra] to enquire before eating if everyone had eaten. One day, he was informed that there was not enough curry for some friends. Although this may seem trivial, it had such an impact on your temperament that the next morning, when food was presented before him, Huzoor[ra] gave specific instructions and cautioned us that such an error should never happen again. He would not tolerate a situation where something was on his table but not on the other’s. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] practically demonstrated how to fulfil the rights of hospitality and brotherhood in Islam.
Health challenges in Italy
Due to excessive discourse, continuous sleepless nights, and irregular meals in Damascus, Huzoor[ra] had a fever and [other health issues]. By the time we reached Beirut, his condition had worsened to the point that we had to find a capable doctor immediately, and thus, the departure from Beirut also took place while he was unwell.
In Rome, we made a mistake on 19 August 1924: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] had been busy since morning and had neither breakfast nor lunch. In the evening,
some photos were to be taken, and we took along Rahim Din, who was responsible for cooking, which resulted in the evening meal being hastily prepared. As was his habit, Huzoor[ra] did not comment on the quality of the food and ate it due to appetite. That night, Huzoor[ra] [became unwell] and had a fever as well. The next morning, he pointed out our mistake and expressed disappointment, but Hazrat Khalifatul Masih’s[ra] displeasure was marked by affection and forbearance. When I apologised, he said that it was not a matter of punishment or forgiveness but that we knew he had not eaten since morning and yet took Rahim Din along, resulting in the recurrence of fever, and liver issues […]. Huzoor[ra] remarked that this was akin to poisoning. He expressed that we were expected to be more sensible and that such an error was not anticipated from us.
We were very regretful of our mistake. However, our kind leader, still being unwell, soon after gathered everyone together with love and affection. Thereafter, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] attended to the arrangements for tickets, and I, along with Chaudhry Sahib[ra] and Maulvi Rahim Bakhsh Sahib[ra], went for the translation of newspapers.
I present these accounts so that our friends may see that there is nothing artificial or pretentious about this great man. Instead, his every word and deed genuinely reflects his natural feelings, through which he seeks to instil exemplary conduct in his companions.
Departure from Italy
On the evening of 19 August 1924, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] personally arranged tickets to London through Thomas Cook. I must also mention that in our country, prominent individuals often consider manual work beneath them and see attending to financial matters as beneath their dignity. However, I observed during
this journey, as well as before, since God appointed him as Khalifa, that Huzoor[ra] was very strict in financial matters and thoroughly scrutinised everything. During this trip, he handled all the financial accounts with Cook himself.
In Rome, when Huzoor[ra] went for the tickets, Cook had arranged them so that the Caliph would arrive first, with his travel companions arriving later. He recognised this flaw and said that such an arrangement was not suitable. The agent explained that there was no harm in the rest of the group arriving a few hours later, but Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] insisted that this would not do; this was a single journey under a single administration, and it could not be divided. The tickets were then prepared accordingly, and on the evening of 20 August [1924], Huzoor[ra] departed from Rome with his associates.
Many Americans were in Rome at the time, most of whom were heading to London. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] completed this journey while continuing to propagate the message of Islam. When we boarded the train in Turin, he personally managed the seating arrangements, making sure every single one of his companions was seated before retiring to his own compartment.
French Territory
At various stations, a large crowd would gather behind Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] As we crossed the lush, green, and populated regions of Italy, we entered Milan, which was once part of the French territory. Here, customs officials came on board the train and enquired whether we had any restricted items like cigars, cigarettes, etc. After we assured them, we had none, they trusted our word, and we arrived in Paris in the morning.
Waqf-e-Arzi: UK khuddam spread Islam’s message in Chile
Day 1 and 2
In 2022, under the instruction of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa, Majlis Khuddam-ulAhmadiyya UK undertook its first Waqf-eArzi journey to Argentina. In the following year, another Khuddam delegation visited Guatemala and were able to distribute a total of 20,500 leaflets to the native population. This year, Huzooraa took a historic pledge from Ahmadis across the globe at the Ijtema of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya UK, that they would “endeavour to convey and propagate the teachings of Islam Ahmadiyyat and the blessed name of the Holy Prophetsa to the corners of the earth until my dying breath.”
Whilst travelling to Chile, six khuddam from the UK had the opportunity to convey the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat to the local population. Chile, a country in western South America, shares its borders with Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Spanish is the national language with 78% of the 19 million plus population identifying themselves as Christians. The delegation was joined by members from Argentina and Bolivia in Chile. Below is a brief report of our daily tabligh activities in Chile.

The train was scheduled to depart from Paris at 10 am, but we had to catch it from another station in Paris. Due to the time required for the transportation of luggage and other formalities, we were often delayed at each station. Nevertheless, we all boarded a car and headed to the station. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra], Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif Sahib[ra], Mirza Sharif Ahmad Sahib[ra], and Chaudhry Ali Muhammad Sahib[ra] boarded another car and, passing through some major roads, arrived on time.
From Paris to London
We departed from Paris at 10 am and boarded a ship near Calais around 3 pm to cross the English Channel. Although the crossing usually takes about an hour, the channel was turbulent due to strong winds, causing many men and women to become seasick.
After crossing the channel by 4 pm, we boarded the train again and arrived at London’s Victoria Station by 6 pm. A telegram had already been sent to London, indicating our arrival at 3:20 pm. At that time, a crowd of nearly 300 people had gathered at Victoria Station to receive the Caliph, including editors, photographers from major London newspapers, and other
All members had an audience with Huzooraa Huzooraa graciously led all members in a silent prayer and bid them farewell with the words of “Allah hafiz ho” (May Allah be your Protector).
Thereafter, Sadr Sahib MKA UK gave some standing instructions in relation to travelling.
We then boarded our flight which arrived in São Paulo Airport in Brazil. We had a two and a half hour stay in Brazil. We boarded our flight destined for Santiago, Chile. We were received by the missionary Ata-ul-Mannan Sahib, and were taken to our accommodation for the duration of our stay in Chile, located in Las Condes, which is a 20 minute drive from the airport.
Day 3
In spite of being jet-lagged khuddam began the day with the Tahajjud prayer. Within walking distance, we used the Metro to make our way to our first destination for leafleting in Chile. From the Alcantara station we travelled for over 30 minutes to Universidad De Chile.

dignitaries. However, after waiting until 5 pm, some of them left, but a significant number still remained and waited. Upon disembarking at the station, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] led a prayer with the community, and this scene was captured by photographers, with the images later published in London newspapers.
Prayer at Ludgate
From there, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih[ra] led his group to Ludgate, where he prayed for the success of Islam and the breaking of the cross in the courtyard near the famous St. Paul’s Cathedral. This sight was never witnessed before by the people of London, so it attracted a large crowd from all sides. After offering a long prayer, Huzoor[ra], along with his attendants, proceeded to 6 Chesham Place. Before entering the residence, he offered another silent prayer. Newspaper correspondents and photographers continue to visit, and pictures of the Caliph in prayer and supplication are being published in the newspapers. – Yaqub Ali Irfani.

pm we covered the area of Plaza de Armas. A local Argentinian Ahmadi who was staying with us for the duration of the trip also accompanied us. A total of 3800 leaflets were distributed and 2 banners, including “I’m a Muslim ask me anything,” were also used to draw the attention of the public.
Misconceptions regarding women in Islam, polygamy and Jihad, etc. were removed. Discussions about the current geopolitical situation were also held and the Jamaat’s perspective was also given. The majority of the responses received were very positive. We did receive some negative responses to the extent that someone remarked “Terrorists” whilst another person said “Go back home,” but overall, the Chilean nation seems intrigued and eager to learn about Islam.
We returned to our accommodation at 4:30 pm to offer the Zuhr and Asr prayers in the congregation. At 5:50 pm, we made our way to the residence of the British Ambassador to Chile Mrs. Louise De Sousa which was located at a walking distance of 3 minutes. During this meeting, Marwan Gill Sahib spoke about the need for peace, to which she remarked:
“I could not have agreed with you more with your message for global peace especially in the Middle East. I don’t think there is anybody in my government that would disagree with this message. We need more organisations like you to come and meet us and remind us of our responsibilities as politicians.”
Hibat ul Mohsin Sahib introduced the Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya and the “Voices for Peace” campaign. A gift bag was prepared for her, which included a certificate of appreciation, the English
translation of the Holy Quran and the book The Great Western Revival, and also a folder containing Huzoor’saa address at Peace Symposium 2024.
We then made our way back to our accommodation to offer the Maghrib and Isha prayers in the congregation at 7:30 pm. After dinner, we also had the chance to meet an Ahmadi husband and wife who had converted to Islam Ahmadiyyat in 2011 and in this way, they are the first Chilean converts to Islam Ahmadiyyat.
Day 4
We left to distribute leaflets at 9:4 5 am. From Alcantara Station, we travelled to Universidad Catolica. We finished the leafletting by 4:15 pm where we distributed 5600 leaflets. Apart from this, during the day between 2 and 2:50 pm Marwan Sahib and Mohsin Sahib met with the Deputy Ambassador of UK and the same message regarding “Voices for Peace” was conveyed. Many people were receptive and expressed their solidarity with the Palestinians. They also expressed their anxieties and worries in relation to the current tensions between Iran and Israel.
We then retired to our accommodation, where we offered the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayers on their appointed times and in congregation.
Day 5
We left to distribute leaflets at 9:45 am. From Alcantara Station, we travelled to Los

Once heralded with great fanfare, the Paris Olympics of 2024, ended up shrouded in controversy and confusion. What was meant to be a grand celebration of athleticism turned into a spectacle marred by questionable displays of religious mockery, obscure additions of ‘sports’ like the “breaking,” and confusion around gender issues, leaving audiences perplexed. Looking forward, though, our attention shifts to the Paralympics, an event that embodies the true essence of triumph in the face of adversity.
Unlike the conventional Summer Olympics, where the focus often lies on record-breaking feats, the Paralympics tell a completely different story. It is a wondrous tale of overcoming physical limitations and transforming them into capabilities. In the Paralympics, people who might once have

Heroes station. We distributed 4000 leaflets.
As the Los Heroes station was situated near an Arts University, many students were asking about the message we were delivering and our view on the current political situation. At around 12:30 pm, we retired back to our accommodation and took a break for salat and lunch.
Alongside this, Marwan Sahib, Mohsin Sahib and Nassar Sahib met with a few dignitaries during this period. One of the meetings included an audience with the President of the Senate in Chile, Senator Jose Garcia Ruminot. During the meeting, the importance of the “Voices for Peace” campaign was highlighted and how the political leaders of the world should play their roles in actively ensuring peace and justice in the world. At 3:30 pm, we left for the Human Rights event that took place. After the event. we were able to engage with some of the individuals at the event, including the Chilean Ambassador to the UK, a Moroccan businessman, some Colombian people, etc.
The Palestinian Ambassador to Chile and the President of DHSF (Fundacion Derechos Humanos Sin Fronteras) were given gift bags that included a certificate of appreciation, the booklet Israel-Palestine Conflict published by the UK Jamaat, and our “Muslims for Peace” leaflet. The book World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace in Arabic was also gifted to the Palestinian Ambassador. After this event, we distributed some more leaflets in the local area. We then retired to our accommodation, where

been sidelined by society are now celebrated athletes, known for their strength, skill, and determination. It is a display that demands awe and inspires those of us who find ourselves confined by our minds!
Societies have not always been kind to those with disabilities. In earlier times, people with disabilities were often ignored, marginalised, or left to fend for themselves. Today, however, enlightened nations have recognised the importance of inclusion, enacting legislation to protect the rights of disabled individuals and ensure they are an integral part of society. Canada’s Disabilities Act is a prime example of such forward-thinking legislation, fostering an inclusive culture that celebrates the dignity of life, regardless of physical capabilities.
The Paralympics are a perfect example of this shift in societal attitudes. In events like blind football, teams consist of four blind outfield players and one sighted or partially sighted goalkeeper. Outfield players wear eyeshades for fairness and rely on a sound-emitting ball for orientation,
we offered the Maghrib and Isha prayers in congregation.
Day 6
At 8 am, we congregated in one of the apartments to watch the live Friday sermon, delivered by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa
Before the Jumuah prayer, Marwan Sahib and Nassar Sahib met with Omar Cortes, who is the Director of Faith. Marwan Sahib introduced the Jamaat to him.
Jumuah prayer was offered at 2:15 pm. Thereafter, we retired back to our accommodation for lunch. At 4:40 pm we left for Estacion Pio Nona Funicular Santiago which was situated at a distance of 20 minutes. This is a touristic place and the khuddam travelled to one of the highest points in Santiago known as Cerro San Cristobal via cable car. We left the area at 6:30 pm as we had to reach another engagement.
At 7 pm we headed to the house of the leader of the Enoc Foundation, Mr Nestor J. Soto Godoy. One of their members picked us up from the accommodation. The Enoc Foundation is a sect within Christianity here. Their beliefs tally to Roman Catholicism more so; however, they term themselves as a different sect. Mr Godoy had kindly invited us for dinner. We were able to engage with their members during this period of time. This dinner was in honour of the Sabbath Day as Mr Godoy explained that according to his understanding, this particular sacred day was not exclusive to the Jews; rather, it was a means for all the family to come together and learn about their faith. After
guided by off-field assistants who provide verbal instructions. This remarkable demonstration of trust and coordination is proof that physical limitations do not define a person’s ability to participate fully in society. These athletes do not see their disabilities as hindrances; rather, they embrace them as part of their journey towards excellence.
What began as a modest archery event in 1948 has grown into a global platform for athletes with disabilities to demonstrate tenacity and inspire others. However, these games should also serve as a reminder to all humans, that resilience is not limited to the physical realm. Just as Paralympic athletes demonstrate incredible strength in overcoming physical challenges, we must also cultivate resilience in mental health.
Mental health, like physical health, requires support and understanding. As we pray for and cheer on the athletes in the Paralympics, we should also look around us and recognise those who are struggling with mental health challenges, be they
food, both Mr Godoy and Marwan Sahib thanked each other for their friendship. Mr Godoy expressed gratitude for being hosted at the Jalsa Salana UK and remarked that Huzooraa is “a simple man with a special heart.” Marwan Sahib thereafter presented the Islamic teachings in relation to how Allah has enjoined the Muslims in the Holy Quran to invite the people of the book to come to a common ground. Hibbatul Muhsin Sahib also gifted Mr Godoy with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of MKA UK. After dinner, Mr Godoy gave us a tour of his home.
Day 7
We left at 10:15 am for Vina Del Mar situated 130 km from our accommodation. We had hired a van to take us. We reached around midday. Here we distributed a few leaflets.
Thereafter at around 5:15 pm, we travelled to the city of Valparaiso which was at a distance of 8km from Vina Del Mar. Historically speaking this city has a connection with Ahmadiyyat in the sense that the earthquake of 16 August 1906 that occurred here was cited by the Promised Messiahas as a sign of his truthfulness in Haqiqatul Wahi. Although Chile is a country that falls under the “ring of fire” in other words, it is hit by an abundance of seismic activity yet what is interesting to note is that after the birth of the Promised Messiahas more earthquakes have been recorded to have occurred in the last century alone in comparison to the period of 1420 to 1835 where only 19 earthquakes,
our colleagues, friends, or family. It is our responsibility to support them in their journey, offering compassion and assistance as they strive to lead fulfilling lives. As the Holy Quran reminds us, “You are the best people raised for the good of mankind” (Surah Aal-e-Imran, Ch.3: V.111), it is our duty to uplift and support those in need, embodying the highest virtues in service to others.
As the world turns its eyes from the grand, sometimes misguided, spectacle of the Olympics to the profound and inspiring stories of the Paralympics, we are reminded of what true triumph looks like. It is not found in the pursuit of glory, but in the courage to overcome adversity, the strength to support one another, and the resilience to keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles. As the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa said, “The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.” (al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat, 6/139)
including tsunamis struck Chile. Whereas up till now 110 earthquakes have struck Chile with a majority of them being over 7 on the seismic magnitude scales. (https:// en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes_ in_Chile) The earthquake of 1906 which the Promised Messiahas quoted was recorded as having an intensity of an estimated 8.2 magnitude on the Richter scale.
118 years later, we had the opportunity to spread the message of the Promised Messiahas in a city that manifested a sign in support of his truthfulness. We distributed a few hundred leaflets here.
At 7:30 pm we left Valparaiso and returned back to Santiago. We reached our residency at 9 pm and offered our Maghrib and Isha prayers at 9:30 pm.
Day
8 and 9
After winding up in both apartments, all of us left for the airport as our flight and the flight to Argentina were close in timing. At 12:15 pm we departed for the airport with a silent prayer. We then bid an emotional farewell to brother Alejandro. We arrived at the airport at 12:40 pm. After lunch, we bid farewell to Marwan Sahib, Mannan Sahib and Abdullah Sahib. After boarding, our flight departed on schedule for 3 pm local time. Alhamdulillah, we landed at Heathrow Airport at 9:45 am. After collecting our baggage, we then parted ways. This was indeed a most blessed and soul-cleansing journey for us all.

Jalsa Salana UK 2024: A Review
After reciting the tashahhud, ta‘awwuz, and Surah al-Fatihah, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa stated:
Alhamdulillah [all praise belongs to Allah], having manifested the blessings and favours of Allah the Almighty, Jalsa Salana UK came to a conclusion last week. These three days were filled with many blessings which left a positive impact on Ahmadis and nonAhmadis alike. I will present the sentiments of some of the external guests, but before I do so, I would like to thank the workers, who played a role in the organisation prior to, during and after the Jalsa, and are even working until now. By the grace of Allah the Almighty, the members of the Jamaat: men, women and children, all have a special quality which is commended by even the guests who attend, and this is a form of silent tabligh [propagation] which is carried out by the workers who fulfil their responsibilities. The workers of all departments of Jalsa play a crucial role in it; whether they are on the entry routes, at the gates, at the [security] check, in the car park, serving food, cooking food, cleaning or whether it is the children doing duties such as giving water as well as other duties that the children perform. Every department that operates during the Jalsa Salana appears to be operating extremely diligently and deserves to be thanked. There are small shortcomings, which some may even observe. However, these shortcomings should be overlooked when arrangements are being made on such a large scale.
Nevertheless, all those performing duties, in addition to serving the guests, are carrying out a form of silent tabligh and many people, including the external guests, express their sentiments of praise and also send them in writing as well. Similarly, through MTA, people residing in various countries of the world are also grateful for the excellent transmission of the Jalsa programme.
Thus, I would like to thank all the workers. This year, alongside the workers from the UK, for the first time a large delegation consisting of khuddam and volunteers from Mauritius came and they worked very well. Similarly, khuddam from Canada came and are helping with the wind-up. May Allah the Almighty reward all of them.
The coverage by the press and media this year was very good as well. Similarly,
the traffic was managed excellently and the neighbours were happy as well. Every year, we receive complaints from them, however, this year, we did not receive any complaints. As a matter of fact, they thought that the attendance was less than last year and that this was because the flow of traffic was very smooth. In fact, the attendance was 2,000 more than the previous year and when they were informed of this, they were astonished. Masha-Allah, this was managed excellently. One of the councillors in this area is an Ahmadi and a missionary. He worked in an excellent manner to establish relationships with the neighbours and came up with a plan for the traffic. May Allah the Almighty reward him as well.
In any case, I will now present some impressions [about the Jalsa]. May Allah the Almighty open the hearts of those who expressed these impressions and enable them to understand the true meaning of the message of Ahmadiyyat, and may we also fulfil and acquire the purpose with which the Promised Messiahas was sent. This should not be limited to these three days, rather, we should make this a part of our lives.
Ismail Belin Sahib of French Guiana participated in the Jalsa. He had a longstanding connection with the Jamaat but had not yet done the bai‘at, but had the opportunity of doing so during the Jalsa. He says, “I have never in my entire life seen such an event where people of all major languages and ethnicities of the world gathered. After attending this Jalsa, my faith has changed into a conviction that this is the true Jamaat and the Jamaat of Prophet Muhammadsa. If we do not answer the call of the Holy Prophetsa by accepting the Promised Messiahas as the Imam of the Age, then we shall remain in misguidance.”
He then says, “I am certain that Allah the Almighty has guided me to this path, and today, if Muslims wish to unite, they must do so by entering the fold of Ahmadiyyat and joining this blessed Jamaat at the hand of the Caliphate.”
Then, he says, “The preparations of Jalsa Salana were unparalleled. Every single worker was seen smiling, and there were no expressions of hypocrisy on their faces. Every single worker was serving the guests
with heartfelt joy. I did not know anyone, yet everyone would meet me as though we had known each other for years.” He continues, “I became a Muslim and was a Muslim for many years prior to attending the Jalsa, and strove to follow the teachings of Islam, but I always felt as though something was missing. However, after participating in the Jalsa, I felt as though that shortcoming was fulfilled.”
Yoshida Sahib, a chief Buddhist priest from Japan, was also in attendance. He says, “We attended all the sessions of the Jalsa.
My wife also went to the ladies’ marquee. We saw the exhibitions and spent some time at the bazaar. One of the exemplary aspects was that everywhere we went the volunteers were all seen to be ever-ready and alert. From the first day to the last moments, the fervour and passion of the workers were unchanged. The Ahmadis attending were all extremely hospitable and friendly. When people from over a hundred countries gather in one place, you are bound to find some differences and a number of issues may arise. However, the morals and
behaviour here all seemed to be the same. Whenever someone was stopped, they would stop there and then, and whenever the people were called to prayer or to the Jalsa [proceedings], they would reach there without delay.”
He says, “For us, experiencing the Jalsa was unforgettable.” They also met me, and I told them that believing in One God is necessary, and that they should ponder over and contemplate this. Likewise, I advised them to have love for mankind. He says, “Being a Buddhist, I am not accustomed to the belief in One God, however, my heart says that there must be a Creator and Master of this universe and that we are all His creation, and that we can all attain nearness to this Creator and Master.” As it were, they have begun to consider taking steps towards Allah the Almighty.
Aziz Neziri Sahib, a guest from Kosovo, was also in attendance. He says, “This was my first opportunity to attend the Jalsa. I am very happy. Everything was running in an orderly fashion. The speeches were especially beneficial. After listening to the addresses of the Khalifa, I felt a spiritual transformation in myself, and I shall take that back with me. Praying here brought peace to my heart.” He then says, “I am an old man, so I pray that I am able to participate in such a spiritual environment next year. Such a spiritual atmosphere has filled my heart with love for Islam Ahmadiyyat.
Wherever I go, I will definitely mention it. I will also draw other people’s attention towards studying the true teachings of Ahmadiyyat. I will definitely mention the concluding address of the Khalifa of the time, which was filled with countless proofs, because I myself am a witness to this. Before taking the bai‘at, sometimes I would visit a shop near the mission house in Pristina, and whenever the owner found out that I had gone to the mission house to pray (the owner of the shop was a Muslim), he told me not to go to this mosque because these are Qadianis who have created a new prophet. This prophet of theirs, God forbid, curses the Holy Prophetsa and has introduced innovations in Islam and changed Islamic teachings. But I continued attending prayers regularly and kept seeking answers to my questions, and Allah the Almighty enlightened my heart to accept Ahmadiyyat. Now, after listening to this address, I once again realised how non-Ahmadi opponents try to distance people from the Jamaat. Nevertheless, I will go back, and presenting this address before people, will respond to them based on the writings of the Promised Messiahas.”
Omar Gaibur Sahib, who is from Chile and works as the Director of Worship in the National Government of Chile, says:
“It is part of my duties to guide the Chilean government on the registration and other matters of all religious organisations established in the country.” He says, “I sought opinions about the Ahmadiyya Community from the Muslim organisations established in the country, and all expressed negative views, the essence of which was that they are not Muslims.” He says, “I met your Khalifa at the Jalsa, and after that, I vow to the people of your Community that I will do my utmost to fulfil my own responsibilities, and share my personal experiences with
the people in my circle of influence, telling them that Ahmadis are not only Muslims but the best and exemplary Muslims.” He says, “I will also make every effort to establish your Community in Chile.” He said that he particularly liked the first day’s address of the Khalifa, in which he gave a sermon on discipline and administrative matters himself. He says, “I have attended many religious gatherings, but I have never seen any religious leader himself providing guidance on administrative matters. I was very surprised and happy to hear this sermon because this action shows that your Khalifa makes efforts for the spiritual, moral, and administrative improvement of the Community.”
A lady from Holland, Mrs Patricia, says, “First of all, I would like to thank you for your hospitality during Jalsa UK 2024. Many people from different parts of the world were present, and it was a profound display of brotherhood. There were people from countries like Indonesia all the way to America.” She says, “I participate in your events like the Peace Walks and Peace Symposiums. Now, coming to this Jalsa was my next step.” She says, “Here I saw that handling thousands of participants on a daily basis, and that a village, from its construction to all logistics and all facilities, was very well managed. A large number of people were seen cooperating with each other. There were no lines. People were cleaning as they went along.
I would like to congratulate all the workers and the volunteers of the Jalsa. Witnessing youngsters, students and everyone partaking in every little task and working together for a greater purpose is always uplifting.” She says, “Having participated in the various sessions, I felt a sense of peaceful togetherness. I will especially remember the International Bai’at ceremony for the rest of my life.” She adds, “If every human being in the world increases their empathy for humankind and raises their own consciousness for humanity, just as the Community is doing, then international problems can certainly be resolved.”
A guest named Tomas Randle Sahib from Argentina, representing Argentina’s National Secretary of Worship, says, “I watched this annual convention with wonder and amazement; the excellence and pristine organisation with which you all have managed this huge gathering.” He explains, “In our country, it is impossible to have such an event. Even in the presence of the police, such discipline is unimaginable. With regards to the address of the Khalifa to the women, I was very impressed by the fact that you are not moved by societal pressures and instead stand firm on your principles.” He goes on, “Although as a Christian I do not agree with all of your doctrines, with particular regard to the points on family life, I’ve benefited greatly despite not being Muslim.”
A guest named Dr. Christie Chang Sahiba from Taiwan observed, “When we were received at the airport, it was with a deep spirit of hospitality. Then we had the opportunity to partake in the Jalsa where we witnessed thousands of volunteers serving in their duties. I was left in total amazement. I have attended many huge conferences all over the world but have never witnessed such a huge gathering being organised
through volunteers. The Khalifa of the time imparted many beautiful pieces of wisdom during the address to the ladies on how young women should conduct themselves in life. During the address, I observed the expressions on the faces of the young girls and the concentration with which they were listening to this advice, it showed that the Ahmadi girls and youth have great love for their Khalifa.
As I was meeting the Head of the Ahmadiyya Community for the first time, I expected that it would be done in a very formal manner and with a great deal of protocol. But I was surprised to see that it was a comfortable and informal setting where His Holiness asked how we were doing and also inquired about Taiwan.” She goes on, “We had many questions for him, but the time passed so quickly in us answering his questions about Taiwan that we didn’t get the opportunity to ask anything.”
In any case, the Jalsa left a positive impact on them.
There was also another guest from Taiwan named Dr. Frank Sahib. He says, “I travelled a long distance to be part of this Jalsa. After leaving Taiwan, I had only just reached Beijing when a storm hit Taiwan and so the flight was cancelled. Yet I was still successful in my journey and reached safely, and I could feel that our trip on this occasion is miraculous. When we reached the Jalsa, we felt that this was the decree of God that we should partake in this Jalsa.
When the Head of Ahmadiyya Community explained in the inaugural address of the convention that this is not a materialistic or worldly gathering, but a spiritual one, I was only further convinced that it is certainly God’s special and miraculous decree that has brought us here despite difficult circumstances.” He explains that “My wife and I are amongst the very first people from Taiwan to participate in the Jalsa Salana.” “We are returning back to Taiwan with a firm resolve to inform the people of our country that the Ahmadiyya Community is an extremely peace-loving, highly organised, and truly moral community. And we intend on encouraging more guests to come here in future years from Taiwan to attend the annual convention.”
There was a guest from Canada who seemed to be of Iranian origin, Yasin Ahmadi Sahib, who has a PhD in Philosophy and is also a journalist. He says:
“I found the Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Community to be a remarkable display of wisdom and reasoning in the form of a religious gathering. The spirit of Jalsa Salana was full of signs of equality among Muslims. From the first moment I attended this gathering, I felt that Muslims had moved away from dry and rigid religious interpretations towards an open horizon of compassion for all human beings living on earth. This is what I noticed having observed the Jamaat. The dignity, patience, tolerance and a balanced interpretation of Islamic teachings demonstrate a peaceful and serene life, practised under the shade of divine guidance, which is pleasing to see after centuries of violence and bloodshed in the name of religion. One of the beautiful aspects that was clearly visible was the harmony between Ahmadiyya teachings and modern civilisations. I hope that the Ahmadiyya teachings spread rapidly with
all its grandeur and glory amongst the Muslims and all those living on this earth so that everyone can experience a successful and prosperous life and attain salvation.”
A guest from Belize, Ronald Hyde Sahib says that he cannot put the sentiments he felt during the bai‘at ceremony into words. He could feel the presence of God. He further says that many of the men were crying profusely seeking forgiveness from Allah the Almighty and without fear of any worldly judgement. The bai‘at ceremony experience has left a lasting impression on his life. To see such a vast number of people gather together without any alcohol or music was extraordinary. Each person was trying to increase in their spirituality and this is something truly praiseworthy. It was a truly life-changing experience. It was not only those on duty, but seeing the participants of Jalsa Salana is also a form of silent tabligh
A missionary from Bolivia writes, “Carlos Hugo Sahib attended the Jalsa this year and this was his third time. He had been studying Islam for some time and did the bai‘at a month ago. He had the opportunity to attend the International Bai‘at Ceremony at the Jalsa. He says: ‘Jalsa Salana UK is the most important spiritual experience of my life. Having participated in the International bai‘at ceremony, I feel as though my heart and my soul are filled with spirituality and that I have become a true Ahmadi.’ He further writes, ‘As a new convert, the Khalifa of the time has advised me that I should pray with full concentration and to forge a strong connection with God. Also I should direct the attention of the Ahmadi Jamaat members in Bolivia towards reading the Holy Quran.’ He says he will act on this himself and also tell others.”
Maria Sol Caballero Franco Sahiba, a non-Ahmadi guest from Uruguay says, “The Jalsa Salana far exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the accommodation for guests was exemplary and the speeches were mesmerising. The inaugural session was my favourite. It is very important that we spread the message of ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’. Overall I found a pleasant atmosphere of brotherhood. The administration played an outstanding role in this. Despite being such a large gathering I never saw a congestion of people nor did it ever seem like it was out of control. There was good planning and clearly marked signs for cars which demonstrated excellent logistics. Undoubtedly this has impressed countless of those in attendance. Attending the Jalsa had a positive impact on my spirituality. The most memorable moment was on Sunday when Ahmadis recite the pledge (i.e. the bai‘at) where everyone prayed together and cried profusely. I have never seen such a firm resolve in one’s faith before this. If I was to suggest something for the guests then it would be that there should be more activities for guests during the convention. Furthermore, female guests should not be compelled to wear the hijab.” They are not compelled to wear it. Either she is under a misconception or perhaps a worker said this of their own accord. It is my belief that usually, we do not tell them to wear it. Nonetheless, she says: “The hijab should certainly be present and those who wish to wear it can do so.”
But nevertheless, what we do say is that one should wear modest clothes.
Lorena Villa Lobos, a guest from Costa Rica writes, “I am in regular contact with Muslim organisations in Costa Rica, but, I do not see any participation from women whatsoever. In fact, only men represent their faith, all of whom are designated to some office or position or another. However, having attended the Jalsa of the Ahmadiyya Community, I was astonished and pleased to see that in the Ahmadiyya Community, women and men are equal.” On the second day, when she went to the ladies’ side, she said that the discipline and cleanliness were far better. She says, “I was informed that the Ahmadiyya Community is working to establish peace, harmony and interfaith dialogue throughout the world. Initially, I thought that all this was limited to mere statements. However, after attending the Jalsa I have experienced this first-hand and can attest that whatever the Ahmadiyya Community instructs others to do, they act upon it themselves as well. The actions and words of the Community members are the same.”
A guest from Burundi, Hatungimana Pontien Sahib is the Secretary for The Ministry of National Solidarity, Social Affairs & Human Rights, Burundi. Whilst mentioning his sentiments, he says, “I was warmly received from the airport up to the accommodation. The young volunteers greeted me and were very consistently very hospitable. I will never forget the three days of selfless love and affection shown in the hospitality which was without discrimination of race, background or religion. Even though my beliefs are slightly different, we are all the creation of Allah, Who loves everyone and we share the same blood. The speeches at Jalsa were filled with the teachings of Islam and shed light on the erroneous interpretations done by others regarding the Ahmadiyya Communtiy’s teachings and answered their questions. The report on your success throughout the world indicates that you assist people who have special requirements and through relevant planning, do your part in helping them. I am a witness to those services in my country of Burundi.” He further says: “It is not the work of a human being to organise such a large conference. It is only the work of Allah the Almighty. This is a clear and mighty sign that whatever you do, it is always supported by the hand of Allah the Almighty.” He then offered prayers that may Allah the Almighty always protect you.
A non-Ahmadi guest from Iceland Suleman Ba Sahib, who is originally from The Gambia, says, “Participating in the Jalsa Salana increased my knowledge about the Community. After visiting the various exhibitions, I saw the work the Community is doing around the world. I am deeply impacted by the manner in which the Jamaat strives to attain knowledge and to disseminate it.
I was also deeply impressed by the fact that despite an attendance of 43,000 people, the segregation between men and women was maintained and they were both working in their respective areas.”
He further says, “I have attended many Islamic gatherings and programmes and even though their attendance consists of a few thousand people, there is still interaction taking place between men and women. However, despite such a large gathering in the Jalsa, segregation was
maintained which is no ordinary matter. (This is also a form of silent tabligh for these people which is done through our conduct.)
“The Community should be commended for this. The arrangements and organisation of the Jalsa were extremely excellent. Everyone was treating one another with great respect and the workers were cheerfully carrying out their duties. The entire organisation of the event was running in a smooth fashion. This was not merely the result of a few days of preparation, rather these preparations were being carried out for a long time.”
He further says, “At the accommodation I was in (which was in Jamia), the mattresses had been laid out and everyone slept there; there was no distinction between anyone. All of the guests were being treated equally.”
He then gave a suggestion for further improvement, saying “Although there was air conditioning in the jalsa gah, however, it was still hot and it seemed there was a lack of air ventilation as a result of which I began to feel sleepy. I initially thought perhaps it was just me but when I looked to my right and left at other people, they would also sometimes doze off. Therefore, there should be some arrangements for air circulation in order to keep everyone fresh.”
The missionary from Argentina writes, “Mariana Plaza Sahiba is the Ambassador of Argentina to the United Kingdom. She attended the Jalsa for the first time. She was so impressed by the atmosphere of the Jalsa and the event that she held an official reception at the embassy and invited all the non-Ahmadi guests who attended the Jalsa from Latin America. During this reception, the Ambassador of Argentina particularly expressed her thanks to the non-Ahmadi government officials who attended the Jalsa of the Ahmadiyya Community and played their role in promoting the message of the Community. She stated, ‘Generally, religious organisations only invite diplomats and politicians for the special external events and after inviting them for a particular session then bid them farewell. In contrast, it is a rather extraordinary and commendable fact that your community did not hide anything from us non-Ahmadi guests. This shows that you do not have any hidden agenda, in fact, your teachings are clear and whatever teaching you present before those who are not members of your community is in complete harmony with your inner beliefs and agendas.”
Jaqueline Sahiba, an editor of a Brazilian newspaper attended the Jalsa, and says:
“I was extremely impressed in every respect by this extraordinary gathering, particularly by its structure; the fact that despite such a large attendance, people were interacting with one another with such great love and harmony and also by the sheer arrangements of it all which made it possible for this to be a successful Jalsa in every aspect. I was very delighted by the atmosphere of peace, unity and love. The wise words of the Head of the Community touched my heart and opened my mind towards goodness. The words of the Khalifa of the time were not just mere words, rather it seemed as if they were emanating sincerely from his heart. I experienced love and respect in every moment during the Jalsa. The cheerful manner in which the volunteers carried out their duties
most certainly impacted my heart and is commendable.”
A newspaper journalist from Brazil says, “This was an extraordinary Jalsa. My respect and admiration for the Ahmadiyya Community has further increased after the Jalsa. The selfless service rendered by the volunteers attracted my attention as to how they devoted their time, cars and services for the guests. This was an excellent thing.”
Roberto Catalano is a professor of interfaith dialogue at the University of Florence in Italy. He attended the Jalsa and said, “I was left astounded by this event. This Jalsa brings together many thousands of people from different nations of the world. This demonstrated the commendable unity of the Ahmadiyya Community. A spiritual atmosphere could be felt in this Jalsa and it was amazing to see how people were completely silent and giving their full attention when the Head of the Community was speaking and this created a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The passion of the volunteers was very impressive and these volunteers, which included children, worked with great effort. One of the most memorable moments of the Jalsa was the International Bai‘at ceremony in which the bai‘at was done at the hand of the Khalifa of the time. This holy and extraordinary event united 40,000 people which is a powerful proof of their collective faith and devotion. I have particularly learnt a lot more about the persecution against the Community in Pakistan and the challenges it faces. Despite these struggles and afflictions, for them to not express any kind of hatred greatly impressed me and is a true testament of your faith.”
The Women’s Affairs and Family Welfare commissioner from Rodrigues Island, Agathe Marie Sahiba also attended. She said:
“This was the first time I attended such a large event where people from more than a hundred countries were in attendance belonging to different ethnicities. For me to take part in an event along with almost 44,000 people is almost equal to the total population of Rodrigues Island. What completely melted my heart was the manner in which the people attending the Jalsa Salana sat with such discipline. Everyone was smiling and greeting one another and this is very commendable. The Head of the Community’s address to the Lajna was also very profound. I learnt that the women in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community play an important role. I am certain that this address will bring about a positive impact on my policies. I have learnt a great deal at this Jalsa which shall bring about a positive change in me and those around me. I have attended many religious events in the past and I knew deep in my heart that there were some spiritual aspects in them, which were lacking. However, the Jalsa was such an event that fulfilled all my shortcomings.”
Such sentiments were expressed by many people that they were lacking in certain aspects of their spirituality and that they were able to find a better atmosphere here.
Temu Anderson Hoyce Sahiba from Tanzania is serving as an Ambassador of Tanzania at the United Nations in Geneva. She said:
“After coming here, I witnessed love and smiles and did not see any kind of
hatred during these days. The ladies’ session was extremely insightful and impressive. The exhibitions I visited during the Jalsa were very beautiful in which the founder of the Community and the elders of the Community were introduced in an excellent manner. The history of the founder of this strong Community and its heroes was presented in a beautiful manner. The Ahmadiyya Community has made a significant change in the lives of people, which includes my beautiful country Tanzania. This Jalsa gave the opportunity to value human sympathy and to live with one another with love and without any kind of hatred.”
Justice Ivan Sesay, a guest from Sierra Leone, states, “The three days of the Jalsa Salana were days of peace, spiritual growth, and global unity. The organisation of the event was exceptional. There was no distinction of race or colour. Everyone was working side by side. Each person, whether a child or an adult, was performing their assigned duties remarkably well, which astonished me. The speakers, including distinguished dignitaries and scholars, delivered deep insights and inspiring messages that touched everyone’s hearts. I was particularly impressed by the emphasis on peace, unity, and understanding. There were numerous activities and exhibitions that made the Jalsa lively. The educational exhibitions were well-presented, offering historical and cultural insights.”
He continues, “I had many opportunities to meet and converse with people from diverse backgrounds, which fostered feelings of unity and brotherhood. A significant moment for me was the keynote address where the Head of the Community highlighted the importance of compassion and service to humanity. His emphasis on the role of parents and the negative impacts on children in the absence of parental guidance due to social media or electronic networks was enlightening and serves as a guideline for our parents. The arrangements, speeches, and service of the community members at the Jalsa Salana greatly exceeded my expectations.”
Gul Sairan Bngali Sahiba, a guest from Kazakhstan, says, “I attended such a grand, religious convention for the first time. As a former politician, I am aware of the costs and extensive planning required for such large-scale arrangements and the tireless efforts of many people involved. I was deeply impressed by the enthusiasm and joy with which all the volunteers were performing their duties in every department. Despite their hard work, each volunteer treated the guests with love, respect, and affection. However, what impressed me the most were the addresses of the Khalifa of the time. Though the addresses seemed to discuss everyday ethics, they had a profound and broad subject matter behind them. I particularly appreciated his clear and direct comments on the negative effects of social media on children’s upbringing. I learned a lot and now intend to apply these lessons in my life. When speaking to my grandchildren, I will explain that we should not forget our morals in our pursuit of success in life.” She was so impressed that she said, “Although I came as a guest this time, I am confident that I will soon join this Community because I resonate with what I heard at this Jalsa.”
Kash Sankofa Sahib, a guest from Belize, remarks, “How can one deny that Ahmadiyyat is the true Islam? All my doubts and questions have been answered. When I see how much love the Ahmadiyya Community has for the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa, I realise that Ahmadiyyat is a great, strong tree with many fruitful branches.”
Amalia, a guest from Spain and a professor of psychology at the University of Cordoba, writes, “As a psychology professor, I was very interested in learning about your experiences. I took the opportunity to observe these moments, which have become preserved as cherished memories that I will fondly remember. The diversity and vastness of the Jalsa, and the peace and harmony felt in every corner, deeply impressed me.”
Arber Zeqira, a physics professor from the University of Kosovo, says, “It was my first time attending the Jalsa in the UK. After listening to the Friday Sermon of the Khalifa of the time, I noticed an immediate improvement in the overall atmosphere. There was a visible display of love and affection between the volunteers and guests. Smiling faces and the greetings of ‘Assalamu alaikum’ (i.e. peace be upon you) were heard everywhere. Such an environment can be likened to paradise. If such an atmosphere can be created in such a large gathering, it is not far-fetched to believe that it can be established worldwide, but only the Ahmadiyya Community can accomplish this. What impressed me the most was how, even if a volunteer was forced to deny a guest out of necessity, a solution was immediately provided to ensure the guests were well taken care of. I was astonished by the sight of different nations coming together as one during the bai’at ceremony, as if they were pearls strung together in a single thread.”
A non-Ahmadi journalist from Uruguay says, “Before attending the Jalsa, I had many expectations and prejudices. To understand Islam closely and specifically, the work your Community is doing was essential for my project in Uruguay. The first day’s speech, where the Khalifa spoke about hospitality, was particularly inspiring. As a guest, I believed we might expect an interfaith message, but these messages were directed towards the Community. I felt very comfortable in the atmosphere of constant praise and glorification of God.”
She further said, “I learned a lot about different cultures within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, which dispelled many of my prejudices. I was not allowed to record anything from the women’s side, however I feel there was no danger or harm in this.” If by this she meant taking pictures, then it is good that she did not take any. Otherwise, it was fine for her to record anything else, or to acquire the recordings later. The missionary from there can explain it to her further. She then said, “Nonetheless, there was no harm in granting permission, as it would have allowed us to create better material to publish in our country. Participating in the Jalsa Salana has significantly impacted my spiritual life. The most memorable
Editor-in-Chief:
moment for me was seeing men cry in prayer to Allah the Almighty. I believe that the participation of journalists can be better organised to improve the coverage of the event. My suggestion is to spread the work and working methods of the community more widely to the world.”
Anna Petrovska Sahiba, a guest from Poland who works in a customer support department, attended. She says, “I believe in God but do not consider myself part of any religion.
“I was introduced to the Community by an Ahmadi who used to work with me. I got the sense that he felt a great deal of pride about his Community and he would often tell others about it. Hence, I too had some information about the Ahmadiyya Community as well as some links to certain websites.” She says, “After doing some research, I decided to attend the Jalsa Salana UK, and I even bought my clothes and a scarf for the Jalsa. When I began my journey towards the Jalsa, I had mixed feelings, and I was also a bit scared.” Then she says, “On the first day of Jalsa I did not know which way to go on the Jalsa site. Meanwhile, without my asking, a girl asked me if I needed help which was very surprising for me. Upon arriving at the Jalsa site, I immediately began feeling safe. Even though there were so many people, I did not feel alienated in any way. During the Jalsa, the various speeches, especially the addresses by the Head of the Community strengthened my bond with the Community. For me, the most memorable part was the address delivered to the ladies in which guidance was given as to how children should be raised. During the address, I kept thinking about my own children and the fact that I completely agree with the boundaries which the Head of the Community mentioned in his speech, and I consider all of them to be very important and think that they were worth mentioning.”
A professor from the University of Pristina in Kosovo said whilst mentioning his impressions, “I attended the Jalsa Salana for the first time and I witnessed love and affection everywhere. In my view, this Jalsa was very successful, especially the exhibitions.” He is from Kosovo and he says, “I was very troubled to hear about the persecution faced by the Community throughout the world. The concluding address delivered by the Head of the Community drew my attention towards the fact that Islam Ahmadiyya is the true teaching, and I received the answers to my questions. When I return to Kosovo, I will respond to those who speak out against the beliefs of the Community.”
Mr Churk Van, a guest from Holland says, “The hospitality of the Ahmadiyya Community and the volunteer efforts made by thousands impacted me a great deal. There was an atmosphere of respect, love and peace for all.” He says, “I also met the Head of the Community which was a very good experience. Not only did he meet us, but he also took the time to answer questions about Islam from both Ahmadis and nonAhmadis alike and I greatly benefitted from this.” He says, “These things have been
engrained in my heart and without growing weary he carefully listed to what we had to say and gave us answers.”
These are just some impressions which I have mentioned. The report of bai‘ats which took place as a result of the Jalsa Salana is as follows; the chief of a village in Guinea-Bissau along with 85 people accepted Ahmadiyyat after watching the Jalsa proceedings. The Imam of a mosque in a village of Tanzania accepted Ahmadiyyat. A school teacher from Niger accepted Ahmadiyyat. During the Jalsa, 12 people from Congo-Brazzaville accepted Ahmadiyyat.
A missionary from Guinea-Bissau writes that Sare Kucha is a place in GuineaBissau where the chief was severely opposed to the Community. During the Jalsa Salana, he watched the Jalsa proceedings and listened to my addresses as he had been invited to do so. He says that after listening to these addresses he said, “Your Khalifa and the founder of your community are true lovers of the Holy Prophetsa. We had always been told that the Ahmadiyya Community does not accept the Holy Prophetsa to be a prophet and have instead taken their own prophet. But after listening to the address delivered by your Imam, I have become certain that your Community alone is the true community of the Holy Prophetsa.” At that very instance, along with 85 people, he announced that he had accepted Ahmadiyyat and he who was once an opponent entered the fold of the Jamaat. May Allah also grant sense to the Pakistani clerics as well.
The Imam of a mosque in the Abuja village of Tanzania says, “I was left astonished upon watching the proceedings of Jalsa Salana on MTA. These scenes were very impactful. During the bai‘at there were some very emotional moments and I was astonished that everyone was repeating the words of a single leader and then prayed as well. These scenes have entirely changed me and have left a deep impact on me. God willing, I shall always remain a part of this Community. I was the Imam in a Sunni mosque, but now I am a heartfelt Ahmadi and have completely changed.”
The report from the Tabligh Department in the UK is that during the Jalsa, 22 people from the UK were able to accept Ahmadiyyat. They comprised two British, two Nigerians, eleven Pakistanis, one Romanian, five Arabs and a Bengali. There were about 1,000 non-Ahmadi guests who attended the Jalsa. During the Jalsa, various tabligh sessions which also included question and answer sessions were organised in which various people expressed their impressions.
Under MTA Africa, there were more than 14 national television channels that relayed my addresses. They also transmitted the International Bai‘at ceremony live which was watched by several million people. The new African channels that joined in this were Malawi’s national television channel, Canal Plus TV in Benin, and the government channels of The Gambia, Ghana, Uganda, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. These channels are viewed by approximately more than 30 million
people.
There were 14 different television journalists who participated in the Jalsa and 57 reports were broadcasted. These reports reached more than 55 million people.
Arrangements were made in the Senegal mission house to listen to the Jalsa. An Imam who teaches the Holy Quran Hadith and Jurisprudence at a college said after the Jalsa concluded, “I consider myself lucky because today I had the opportunity of seeing the Khalifa of the Imam Mahdi live and listening to his address. Before this, I had many doubts about the Ahmadiyya Community, such as that, God forbid, Ahmadis diminish the rank of the Holy Prophetsa. However, today, after listening to the address of Khalifatul Masih, all of my doubts in this regard have been dispelled and after listening to today’s speech, I can confidently say that the Ahmadiyya Community does not dishonour the Holy Prophetsa rather it has a great deal of sincerity and love for him and teaches the entire world to follow and obey the Holy Prophetsa.”
The report about online coverage is that last year this numbered 41, whereas this year there were 49 websites which are read by 15 million people according to reports. As for print coverage, there were 14 articles and the readership of those newspapers is five million according to reports. 19 reports were relayed via television and radio. It is reported that the viewership is ten million. The viewership of the television channels is ten million while there were a total of 24 reports broadcast on the radio and the number of listeners is also ten million. By the grace of Allah the Almighty, approximately more than 46 million people saw or heard the news of the Jalsa Salana and it is said that in the coming few days it is expected that there will be even more coverage and quite prominent radio channels such as LBC, Radio Solent, BBC, BBC South Today, and Daily Express and others have published reports. Similarly, as I had mentioned, many people visited the exhibitions, such as the Makhzane-Tasaweer exhibition, and upon seeing the history exhibition as well as other exhibitions people were greatly impacted. All of these exhibitions were also a form of tabligh
By the grace of Allah the Almighty, on the one hand, the Jalsa has been a means of increasing spirituality and moral training and on the other hand, it has been a means of informing external guests about the teachings of Islam and to better their understanding, as well as a means of bringing them closer to God. Thus, owing to this, while we must bow down and be thankful to God Almighty more than before, at the same time we must follow the pledge that we will always strive to spread the message of Allah the Almighty and the Promised Messiahas even more than before. May Allah the Almighty enable us to do so.
