New exhibition space at the “Museo del Cenacolo”
PROJECT: MUSEUM AND EXHIBITION DESIGN TYPE: ACADEMIC LOCATION: FLORENCE, ITALY
EXHIBITION & MUSEUM DESIGN
DATE: 2009
The extension of the current museum has been planned in the courtyard of Santa Croce Abbey in Florence following the historical structure as recovered in ancient documents. The new space for the exhibition recreates the typical spatial hierarchy of Florentine convents and it serves as a connection between the Museo del Cenacolo and the main abbey, bringing a continuity to the visitor experience and giving a different perception of the space, inspired by the maestro Carlo Scarpa.

The intervention for the musealization of “Villa Adriana” in Tivoli is designed to solve the functional organization of the possible paths in the archeological park and improve the visitor’s engagement. The new museum is perfectly fitted on the side of the Pecile; it combines harmoniously the primary functio n as a new entrance to the visitor path and the secondary function as an extraordinary display of the villa’s collections. It promotes the new visitor centre to a hub without diminishing its status but, on the contrary, improving it.
