Design Statement Modcloth is a fashion retail company that focuses on women’s clothing, where the main concept is to be more inclusive and provide clothing for women of all sizes. The company also aims to raise awareness and reduce body shaming as body shaming has become a common issue in today’s society. This is especially true when it comes to social media, as the majority of body shaming issues arise from comments on social media. In this office, various curved shapes are used to represent the various figures and curves on women’s body. Besides that, a more pastel and feminine colour scheme is used throughout the office to give the place a warm, gentle feel, while materials like wood gives the space a neutral look to prevent too many colours overwhelming the space. Different types of cloth are also applied throughout the space to allow visitors to know more about materials used to create clothing. The office includes various spaces to accommodate the various activities in the office. The various spaces in the office are divided into public, semi-public and private spaces for better circulation and privacy. In order to adapt to the new norm of the pandemic, the seats in the office are further part for social distancing. Moreover, walls or partitions are also used to separate some of the spaces. Various activities can be conducted in the office such as collaboration and discussion in the collaboration space, product introduction and presentation in the product presentation area and fashion design works in the design studio workspace. Moreover, Modcloth also collaborates with the Breast Cancer Society to provide job opportunities for breast cancer patients. The breast cancer patients can enter through the entrance at the linked bridge connecting Modcloth and the Breast Cancer Society. Thus, the breast cancer patients are given the chance to go to the photoshoot area and work as models

Reflection Throughout this module, I would describe this Multidisciplinary Learning Experience (MLE) as challenging yet interesting. Although the module was conducted online, I've still learnt more about the design process as we collaborate with the architecture and quantity surveying students, which I think will be useful for my upcoming internship experience. During our collaboration process, there were various ups and downs. Personally, I found it hard at times when it came to communication as we could not have discussions face to face with our peers. It was hard to have a more thorough discussion as not everyone would voice out their opinions sometimes. Nonetheless, we still worked our way together through it by constantly making sure that everyone is on the right track and creating own our timelines for our work. I believe that the MLE process can be improved further to provide a more holistic experience. For example, face to face sessions should be scheduled if the covid-19 situation allows so everyone can be more involved in the whole experience. Moreover, site visits can also be done so everyone can visualize the spaces better . Overall, I'm satisfied with the collaboration with other schools as it provided me a platform to get to learn more from my peers. Throughout this process, we have shared our ideas and opinions to our groupmates, which I find it to be inspiring as my peers may ideas that I did not think of. Besides that, the MLE process also allowed me to further understand how architects, interior designers and quantity surveyors may work together in the industry. Each of us have own our roles, yet we still have to keep each other updated on our progress and make sure there are no miscommunications in order to make the project a success. Last but not least, I would really recommend the collaboration with other schools to other students. I think that an experience like this would make the project more interesting and also allow students of different schools to interact with each other more often.
