Dear Pilots, As the 2013-2014 Pilot Year enters it final quarter, we are proud to look back at the many accomplishments of this outstanding year! It has been one to celebrate, and we are eager to celebrate it with you at this year’s 2014 Pilot International Annual Convention & Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL, July 2-6 and our Council of Leaders event June 30 - July 2. At this year’s international convention we will “Celebrate the Gift of Pilot,” and I invite you to take a look at the wealth of information provided about this exciting event and COL on page 3-11 of this publication. Please take special note of the new mentoring program for First Time International Convention Attendees and also of the Gift Exchange planned for the “Celebrating You” Luncheon on Friday. These events and the presentation of the new Pilot International Awards are just a few of the new and exciting programs planned for this year’s international convention. I am eager to share this wonderful week with all of you. I truly hope to see each and every one of you there! It has been a transformational year for our beloved organization, and in addition to celebrating the amazing work and outstanding gifts of our clubs and districts, Pilot International wishes to thank our gifted staff directors Megan Milton (Director of Programs/Events and Office Manager), Bonnie Millirans (Director of Club Services) and Alison Coons (Director of Communications) for their continued hard work and dedication.

Under their guidance and mentorship, Pilot International is pleased to welcome four new temporary staff members including Stephanie Morgan (Membership Records Specialist), Kelley Rice (Founders Fund Specialist), Lia Smith (Bookkeeper) and our new Anchor Specialist, Jennifer Whitehead. These exceptional ladies have recently been welcomed into the Pilot International Headquarters Family and are already coming to know our members and joining in our mission to serve. With their help - and their unique gifts our new Portalbuzz database system is in line to go live by 2014 international convention and more exciting plans are in store for our amazing Anchor program! In addition to the new staff at Pilot International Headquarters, the Pilot International Search Committee is diligently working to identify viable candidates for the position of Executive Director. We hope to have an Executive Director in place and to introduce him or her to the membership at international convention this summer in Chicago. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all again for your superior work in the name of Pilot International and for your continued support and dedication to our mission of Friendship & Service. I am honored to serve alongside you as we endeavor to Do More, Care More and Be More - together! In Pilot Friendship,

P

Pilot International News • Spring 2014 Every Pilot Club Should be a 250 Club! Don’t Miss YOUR Chance!

Set the Pace for Pilot to DO MORE around the globe!

Every District, Every Club and Every Pilot Member is encouraged to contribute $250 to the Pilot International Founders Fund for the GOALS FOR GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS initiative. Future leaders are counting on YOU!

To be recognized as a Pacesetter Club, All Pilot Clubs should remind EACH MEMBER to contribute $10 EACH to Pilot International for the PACESETTERS initiative.

Contributions to the Goals for Grants & Scholarships initiative help fund grants in local communities and scholarships to deserving students.

Contributions to the Pacesetters initiative fund numerous Pilot programs and endeavors each year.

The contribution deadline is MAY 15, 2014 for recognition in the 2014 international convention program and in the Pilot Log.

Pilot International sincerly appreciates ALL of our generous donors. PI Donors will also be recognized according to their giving level (as of May 31, 2014) in the 2014 Pilot International Annual Convention & Leadership Conference program guidebook, during 2014 international convention events and also in the Pilot Log. To inquire about your current level of giving, please contact Kelley Rice, Founders Fund Specialist, at kelley@pilothq.org. Contribution forms and additional information can be found on our website at www.pilotinternational.org/imapilot/pifoundersfund.

As of May 1, 2014, Pilot International Headquarters is pleased to welcome our Macon, Georgia headquarters building’s first tenants - our new neighbors and friends - United in Pink. We are excited to share our beautiful space with this amazing organization that shares our commitment to Service & Friendship and Caring for Families in Times of Need. About United in Pink United in Pink was originally founded as Bunko for Breast Cancer in Macon, GA in May 2005. The organization began as a fundraiser hosted by a local survivor as an outreach and token of appreciation to the caregivers and community that supported her during her battle with breast cancer. In 2007, Bunko for Breast Cancer incorporated and became a 501c3 non-profit organization. Its mission was to support the entire family affected by a breast cancer diagnosis. In 2011, the organization changed its name to United in Pink. United in Pink’s mission continues to focus on survivorship and quality of life for families affected by a breast cancer diagnosis. The organization’s programs, services and resources continue to expand and adapt to the needs of the families we serve. United in Pink is committed to enhancing the quality of life for the survivor and their families by addressing their unique physical, psychological, relational and educational needs. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among Georgia females. Family members are also greatly affected by a cancer diagnosis. For example, children who have a parent diagnosed with cancer are more likely to develop emotional, social, cognitive, behavioral and physical problems. United in Pink strives to work with each family member to reduce their fears and increase their ability to cope with the changes in their home and in their lives. United in Pink is funded by individual and corporate donors and through our annual fundraisers. All of the organizations’ programs and services are offered at no charge to the families it serves. Most likely someone you know, and maybe someone you love, has been touched by breast cancer. It is United in Pink’s goal to enrich the lives of these loved ones and to strengthen their families through their programs and services.

Outstanding

Pilots and Anchors are Amazing People!

Our club members give of themselves each and every day and joyfully answer the call to serve, whenever or wherever it comes. In all four corners of the globe, Pilots are hard at work not only doing the good deeds of Pilot and Anchor Clubs but also leading outstanding individual lives.

Pilots and Anchors are Unique Individuals!

Each member brings his or her own set of skills and experiences and offers their special talents to the benefit of their club and their community at large. Without a doubt, our club members are out in the world right now making outstanding and lasting contributions, leading lives of distinction that deserve recognition. Every Pilot is special. Every Anchor is special. And every one of you is vital to our organization.

We want to share their stories!

Outstanding Pilots and Outstanding Anchors from around the globe will be honored quarterly in upcoming editions of The Pilot Log or online monthly on the Pilot International Website. What makes a member “Outstanding?” That is for YOU to decide! Do you have a special member in your club who leads the kind of life you believe would inspire others? Does that person contribute to his or her society outside of the club in a way you feel is especially important? Do you have a member in your club with a unique career or someone who has made a name for themselves in a singular and positive way outside of their work with Pilot or Anchor? Then tell us!

Outstanding
