Message from the Editor

It has been said we have at least 3 ideas a year that would make us millionaires if we just followed through with them. One of my 3 is to find young people who will teach a foreign language course....Electronic World! I believe there is an entire generation that would be willing to pay for the valuable skills of speaking and understanding this language. Twitter, facebook, the cloud, megabites, gigabites, domains, websites, key stroke, hosts, hashtag, those letters that stand for prhases (OMG, TKS, LMAF,LOL, are just a few). first through every how many generations new devices....goodness the list is never ending. During the past few months I encountered a series of electronic malfunctions that made me realize that I am not fluent in Electronic World, First my Focus email account was hijacked. A man who was proficient in Electronic World, but not English, offered to try to restore it for $250. However. horror stories from others who had this experience warned me that was just the initial deposit and there was no way to determine what I might actually pay. So I created a new email address. So far I have been able to reestablish most of my contacts. Then my cell phone died and it was impossible to retrieve my stored contacts. I bought a new phone and selected a new provider. Fortunately, the contract with my current carrier had expired and I called and canceled my service about 10 days before a new billing period. Unfortunately, the person who took my call failed to cancel the service. About 5 months later I received a cut off notice and bill from them. I have made numerous calls to them and to the agency they choose to try to collect from me. Twice I have been told it was all a mistake and taken care of, yet about 6 weeks ago, I received another statement from the collection agency. Just a few days ago in the process of getting Focus ready for press, a customer informed me that our flip page website edition was no longer on line. I had purchased that domain name 3 years ago when the first edition was published. I am sure they sent a message to the old Focus email address informing me it was time to renew, and of course I did not receive it. So I began a quest to try to get it restored. It seems that, like banks that sell mortgages to other providers, my domain contract had been sold to a company in Australia. After a full day on the phone with people that were fluent in Electronic World, but again not English, I gave up and just bought a new domain. You will now be able to read Focus on line at clickonfocusmt.com. If any young computer, electronic whizzes think they would like to teach a course in Electronic World, please contact me. I will help you put a business plan together and we will BOTH become millionaires.

Life Interrupted? ...Help Options Abound

www.lifeaidmedical.com

An accident or health issues can present challenges to day-to-day living. Fortunately there is an array of medical supply products to solve many problems these patients face. Mobility is assisted by wheelchairs, canes, walkers, rollators and crutches. Lift chairs recliners make the transition from sitting to standing easier. Hospital beds can be equipped with many aids not offered by a traditional one. Our bodies need oxygen to function properly and home and portable equipment furnishes that needed boost. Anyone who has experienced back, foot and leg issues knows the simple act of walking can cause unwanted pain. There is an array of innovative aids that can make a real difference. Personal response monitoring systems can provide the freedom to continue an independent lifestyle. Help is just the push of a button away with monitoring from services like those provided with Philips Lifeline Medical Alert. Recognizing the need for medical supply products is the first step. “The next step is making your physician aware of you or your loved ones needs,” explains Jeff Campora, General Manager of LifeAid in Tullahoma Tennessee. “Once the physician prescribes the needed supply, we can take it from there,” Campora said. We accept Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance. We bill on the patient’s behalf and work directly with physicans, case managers and insurance companies at no cost to you he continued. “It is important that people choose a provider that has experience and provides the support to assure excellence in service.” he emphasized. In business since May of 1993, LifeAid Medical Equipment is staffed by compassionate, highly trained individuals striving to remove the physical limitations of life by providing quality home medical equipment and friendly professional service to their customers. “We invite you to visit our showroom at 1241 S Jackson Street in Tullahoma. A member of our trained staff will assist you in making the choices that are right for you. We sincerely appreciate our customers’ support throughout the years and look forward to continuing to meet you medical supply product needs,” Campora concluded. Sterling Silver....

The Beautiful Affordable Precious Metal Did you ever wonder why sterling silver is marked as .925? “The answer is intersting,” states Silver Mine jewelry & gifts owner Tamela Hampton. Pure silver is a soft metal that can not be made into jewelry without adding other metals she explains. The most common additions are copper and nickel. Tamela Hampton “Some people are allergic to these additives, especially nickel,” she explains. Sterling Silver is softer than gold so it isn’t a good idea to set diamonds in sterling silver. My customers often express the idea that a silver ring can not be sized, but it can. When sizing a sterling silver ring you will have to use heat when soldering the ring back together. Therefore the stone in the ring must be able to take heat. “I have watched the process”. Sterling Silver can not be physically touched in any way during the process. It is so exacting that few jewelers make the attempt. However some have perfected the possible, but at times can be costly,” Tamela stated. Cleaning keeps your sterling silver bright and shiny. “I recommend Wieman’s silver cream,” Tamela advises. It can be found locally.

The most important piece of advise she gives is....NEVER expose your sterling silver to chlorine. DO NOT go to the pool and plunge in without first removing your jewelry. If you make this mistake she warns, “It will turn black and never come back.” Chlorine oxidizes the sterling silver. Even gold is effected by chlorine, though not immediately visable, if put under a microscope pitted areas will appear where the chlorine has weakend the surface. Always be careful not to expose your jewelry to household bleach. Exposure to air causes sterling silver to tarnish quicker. Storing your sterling silver in an air tight container will slow down the tarnishing process. Sterling Silver is a precious metal that most can afford. It can be fashioned into many unique beautiful designs in rings, necklaces braclets and earrings.

Animal Harbor is a limitedadmission animal shelter facility serving Franklin County, Tennessee. It is operated by members of The Franklin County Humane Society, a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our shelter opened in 2003 and since then we have found homes, most of them local, for more than 3,500 lost or abandoned cats and dogs. When our animals go to their homes, their adopters can be confident that they have received age-appropriate diet, immunizations, and health care, and that they have already been spayed or neutered. As one adopter says: “My experience with your family was wonderful. I usually find it very sad when visiting a shelter, but it is obvious the staff is truly concerned and loves the animal there. In addition to providing a loving temporary home for these precious cats and dogs, we promote humane education; and to combat the pet overpopulation problem, we provide a low-cost spay-neuter program for pets owned by low-income residents of the county. Our work receives no financial support from the county; we depend entirely on the generosity of our donors.
